Jim Ward: Warren Worthington II
Quotes
-
[Angel enters through the living room window. Warren Worthington II is waiting for him]
Warren Worthington II : This has to stop.
Warren Worthington III : I've grown really tired of this conversation.
Warren Worthington II : You've got the MRD hunting some phantom vigilante in the skies! You're gonna get yourself killed!
Warren Worthington III : Then that would solve all of your problems, wouldn't it, Father?
[Angel walks out]
Warren Worthington II : Warren!
-
[Warren II is in an elevator, still stressed from his meeting with Senator Kelly. The door opens to an angry Warren III]
Warren Worthington III : Now, you've gone too far!
[Warren II ushers Warren III into a boardroom]
Warren Worthington II : I'm sorry. I didn't want you to find out this way. Listen to me...
Warren Worthington III : It's not enough you use our money to help the MRD hunt down innocent mutants, now you want to wipe them out completely with this - this cure?
Warren Worthington II : Wipe them out? I'm helping them to become normal again. Don't you want to be normal, Warren?
Warren Worthington III : Not your definition of it!
Warren Worthington II : But all the money, the years of research, it was all for you.
Warren Worthington III : No, it wasn't! It has always been for you! I was your shame, your disgrace! Don't you dare put this on me!
Warren Worthington II : You don't understand, son, because you're sick. This cure
Warren Worthington III : [takes off his coat and spreads his wings] I don't need a cure, because this is not a disease! I won't let you do it, do you hear me?
[leaves the building to shocked onlookers]

[last lines]
Senator Robert Kelly : What do you mean you're out?
Warren Worthington II : The cure is wrong. The Sentinels are wrong. I was wrong.
Senator Robert Kelly : Yeah? Then, so was I, by trusting that you'd see this through to the end.
Warren Worthington II : The end of what, Robert? The world? Because that's where we're heading.
Senator Robert Kelly : You helped draw the line between us and them.
Warren Worthington II : And it's growing fainter every day. The damage we caused, the lives we ruined... Maybe we're the problem.
Senator Robert Kelly : You think you can just stop it? Then you're a fool. Powerful people are behind us. It's out of your hands. Sorry, Warren. In this war, humanity will win. Mutants will lose. And when the dust finally settles, we'll have you to thank.
-
Warren Worthington II : You leaked the news?
Senator Robert Kelly : Just take it easy, Warren.
Warren Worthington II : We are a long way from getting that cure on the market. We don't need this kind of public scrutiny yet.
Senator Robert Kelly : It's exactly what we need. To get FDA approval, people have to be clamoring for it.
Warren Worthington II : It's not the people I'm worried about.
Senator Robert Kelly : What? The mutants? Who cares? By the time this is over, they'll all be disarmed.
Warren Worthington II : I wasn't ready, Robert. You went behind my back.
Senator Robert Kelly : Don't make this so personal, Warren. Remember, it's all for the common good.
