Learn more- After a double elimination last week, the dance-off was back Tuesday night on "Dancing with the Stars" as the bottom two vote-getters would face off for a chance to stay alive in the competition. Who would be there?
The night began with a quick encore performance by LIl Kim & Derek Hough, who performed their Viennese waltz for the second time. After a quick rundown of the highlights from Monday night, we got to some results.
First, a look at the leaderboard from Monday night:
Gilles & Cheryl: 29
Lil Kim & Derek: 26
Melissa & Tony: 25
Chuck &Julianne: 23
Shawn & Mark: 23
David & Kym: 22
Ty & Chelsie: 21
Lawrence & Edyta: 20
Steve-O & Lacey: 18
To the results: In no particular order, the first two couples sent to safety were Shawn Johnson & Mark Ballas and Lil Kim & Derek Hough.
'At Last...' Etta James got a chance to show she's still got that voice by performing her classic, "At Last." Later, there was a special performance by the cast of the Las Vegas show "La Reve," and Disney star Demi Lovato sang her song, "La La Land."
More results: The next two couples sent to safety were Gilles Marini & Cheryl Burke and Steve-O & Lacey Schwimmer -- meaning the judges' bottom finisher was in the clear.
After a commercial break, another two couples were let off the hook: Chuck Wicks & Julianne Hough and Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani.
That left three couples waiting to see if they would be in the bottom two: Ty Murray & Chelsie Hightower, David Alan Grier & Kym Johnson, and Lawrence Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska.
Finally, host Tom Bergeron told Ty & Chelsie they were safe, leaving David & Kym and Lawrence & Edyta in the dance-off.
The Dance-Off: David & Kym first performed their Viennese waltz. Judge Len Goodman said he enjoyed it Monday night and again Tuesday night. Bruno Tonioli said David worked well under pressure and should maybe be in the dance-off every week. Carrie Ann Inaba said this time she felt the connection. Scores: 8, 8, and 8. Total: 24
Lawrence & Edyta did their paso doble next. Bruno said he thought he'd only seen the tip of the iceberg from Lawrence and encouraged him to trust himself from the start of each dance. Carrie Ann reiterated it was one of the most difficult piece of music to perform to and said she loved watching Lawrence's power. Len said he'd seen real improvement from Lawrence and was looking forward to seeing what he could do next week if he stuck around. Scores: 6, 7, and 7. Total: 20
With the new scores, David & Kym improved a couple of points while Lawrence & Edyta broke even. Would it make a difference?
Finally, the couple going home was ... David & Kym.
