And tonight IIIITTTTSSSS.........Orville
Sleepin_Dragon10 August 2015
So we've had Morph, Roland the Rat, Wogan, and this week we get Orville and Keith, who's next I wonder? Gordon the Gopher? Orville tells Alex she's gotten to hospital, but he's unhappy that she's going to die. The hangover of Mack's corruption hangs over the team, and what is Operation Rose? Alex gets caught up in a case of burglary, with Grandfather to be of Molly her daughter being attacked, there's a great scene when she hugs her mother in law to be, who has no idea who she is, her reaction to seeing Peter (Molly's dad) is great, he's 14 and stunned at how crazy she is. Following? Good, don't open the Rioja yet, it gets more confusing. Gaynor Mason is a great character, played by the eternally beautiful Sara Stewart, who is utterly brilliant. The humour is apparent again, Gene referring to Alex as Madam Fruitcake, Chris upsetting Millwall supporters. Finally an episode where we get a great story for Ray, Dean Andrews is truly fantastic in this one, his character clearly affected by Mack's demise. We finally get to meet the unknown menace who kidnapped her and has been sending her roses, in the face of Adrian Dunbar, he offers her a way back home to her life and Molly, but is he what he makes out? The ending is very dark and satisfying, the mystery continues, 8/10

A no show from Boris

Another quality episode which doesn't necessarily need the sci-fi element. A trip down memory lane for Drake and the team are closer to a missing villain than they might think. Guest appearance by Keith Harris who made number 4 in the charts with Orville's Song in 1982 and a mention of a future aUK prime minister even though the makers wouldn't have known that when this was filmed.

Dean Andrews gets a chance to shine

Warning: Spoilers
The mystery continues as Alex meets the person who claims he can help her get home, while also meeting the 14 year old version of Molly's Dad.

What's great about this episode is that it gives Dean Andrews a chance to flesh out the character of Ray, who is clearly still reeling from the death of Mac in the previous episode, and the corruption story that has run throughout this second series.

With lots of funny moments along the way too, this is a good episode of what has been a much more consistent second series of the 'Life on Mars' spin-off.
