The movie is a new experiment in Bollywood and executed well by Rajkumar Santoshi. Unlike Pathaan, this movie provides the viewers an opportunity to think and judge.

The movie debunks several myths about Gandhi and Godsey and some historical events. Deepak Antani and Chinmay have delivered impressive performances.

Santoshi, who has some path breaking and popular movies in his career as a director like Ghayal, Ghatak, Damini, Andaz Apna Apna, Khakee has come up with another winner.

Keeping in view of the current enviroment in the country, It can said it be a brave attempt by Rajkumar Santoshi.

Not Anti Gandhi !! Watch the film first then give opinion

Many users online have written that GG: Ek Yudh is an Anti Gandhi film trying to malign his ideologies and promote Godse's ideologies. To these users spreading fake news , watch the film first and then give opinion and do not misguide others .

The film fully supports Gandhi's ideologies. In fact , in the 2nd half, we see Gandhi taking several steps to curb oppression and violence in the society. In fact, i would say, this is a Gandhi class where Godse is the student understanding that Gandhi was not always wrong . However, the film gives Godse a chance to keep his opinions too and while mostly he's proven wrong , it is in the climax where Godse trumps Gandhi when a major flaw in Gandhi's character is exposed. This entire classroom sequence takes place in a prison and it was quite interesting to watch (for many it might not be and just become too preachy).

It is to be noted, the film is a fictional tale where Gandhi "survives" Godse's assassination attempt hence they are able to put forward their thoughts . Godse seemed a person dreaming only of a Hindu country but Gandhi wants all religions to be together living with peace and harmony.

The execution of this film is very average tbh barring the prison sequence which is a touch better. After 2nd half, the film shows Gandhi go in full badass mode popping up wherever there is oppression and violence. This part, the film moves at such break neck speed that you are never really allowed to settle down with whatever is going on. This is where the film faltered completely . It almost felt like I am watching one of those superhero films where a superhero would save the day from multiple sequences of oppresion shown in quick succession.

Performances of actors playing Gandhi Godse is too good. Gandhi's make-up is just top notch so much so that i mistook him often for the real Gandhi . Godse, well i am not sure how he looked but his performance was just out-standing!! There dialogue delivery and body language made sure a preachy prison sequence also became interesting.

Overall, a better execution would have made this film a terrific treat for Gandhi and Godse followers . It's unique up front and has terrific performances. Give it a chance , maybe you will like it or might not, i can't say that but i..i liked it quite.

Must watch this movie ....be honest and loyal while watching ...

I like this movie ....gandhi godse vichardhara ......it was tottaly different that we think and taught by the politicians in their speeches .....please see the reality of real akhand bharat in this movie ......i am disagree at some points in the movie ...when some conversation bw gandhi and godse r made by producer and director ...when gandhiji should have to keep their point but they speechless ...and don't shown by the movie makers ...this shows wronge neretive in the people.

E.g. When godse ask about subhash chandr bose ....and sardaar vallabh bhai patel ....i wants to listen gandhiji points at that time .....but movie makers made it speechless conversation ....this is totally wronge ..

Ending was epic.

Nice experiment done by Rajkumar Santoshi in Indian cinema. This what if- Alternate history experiment movie is very thought provoking. This clash of ideologies and the very basis of which idea of India is formed. It is also well balanced and has captured very well what emotions prevailed in our country during that time and the challenges it faced. Also that last scene is just jaw dropping.

The only complaint I have is that they chose to show flaws in Gandhi's ideology on social issues but didn't offer his point of view on his religious bias and appeasement as in he just ignored Godse's counter on that aspect.

The good thing about this movie is that Rajkumar Santoshi will receive flak from both left and right wing. This nuance was much needed in our political discourse which has become too extreme to even listen to the other side.

Outclass presentation

The movie is an absolute example of a brilliant presentation

The concept is one of its kind where veteran director mr Santoshi has made a tremendous presentation of this concept

The ideology of both the leaders was accurately defined and how both convinced each other on their perceptions and mistakes

The conversation is so highly pitched which clears all our doubts and gives a new prospective to rethink about living and humanity

The movie is so much potential of knowledge which was perfectly presented in dialogues and scenes

Both Chinmay and Deepak has played fabulous one can observe high levels of acts , expressions, emotions , rage , dialogues delivery which is seen only in these types of non commercial films

This was purely a OTT show where whole family can sit together and learn the ideologies.

A nicely put ideological debate(yuddha)

You get to hear both of them. Movie does a balanced job to put both ideology forward through their character and dialogues. More importantly movie does give Godse a space(broad and significant) to put forward his thoughts and reasonings which his supporters feel due in history.

It starts with one ideology domination but picks up nicely and smoothly. A love story in between make the movie dry for sometime but it proves to be a plot put to give an important message towards end.

Movie does justice with history may be because it hardly touches much historical events. Movie is not just another recreation of same already known historical events. Its the dialogue and practice of their(both) ideology which leaves the message.

An important and balanced watch to have in this much polarized era.

A Republic Day worth Movie

I normally don't write reviews but this movie made me do it absolute gem made to perfection without any bias treat to watch. A Republic Day worth Movie. The story might be fiction but viewpoint seems like the writer personally knew Gandhi and Godse. Very sad to see only few screens were given to this movie with most preferring Pathan over this. Had there been a big actor this movie would have been a blockbuster only word of mouth which I am sure will be great should save the film provided it gets enough screen space. Acting was top notch. I was feeling like I was amongst them when all this happened. Music was soothing and Screenplay was treat to eyes. Republic Day gift from Santoshi.

I would have given it a zero star if that was possible.

It's just a fictional story for the revival of Gandhi's image. In this film it looks like Gandhi ji is giving explanation for all the disastrous decisions he took before and after the Independence. This film has nothing to do with the history. I will suggest you not to waste your time on this film, and yes if you wanna watch it then just watch it as a fictional drama that has nothing to do with reality. This movie is similar to Tide(washing powder) advertisement , It just tries to clean the image of Gandhi ji. If we talk about Godse, he is just portrayed as a villain who realises his mistake at the end of the film and accepted Gandhi ji and his ideology . This film just tries to balance things that happened in our past which makes no sense.

Great presentation of different POVs

Wonderfully written drama with brilliant presentation of different frame of references.

Conversations between the lead characters Gandhi and Godse are very thoughtful. Movie highlights what Gandhi & Godse lacked in their thoughts. If they had worked together, we could have seen completely a different india altogether.

Only negative for the movie it has lot of scope to experiment. Instead of stating known facts director could have shown more about the ideological differences.

Lead actors were brilliant in performance. Though the side characters must improve a lot. Casting and costumes of the national leaders is exceptional.

Even though this movie shows alternate history of gandhi and godse, it do not show the real gandhi. There are many things which were altered to clean gandhi's image only. Actor performances were good but this doesn't change the fact that gandhi did many wrong things that our country is still facing and not yet recovered from.

Maestro is back

Raj Kumar Santoshi man behind movies like Ghayal,Damini,Andaz Apna Apna ,Barsaat,Ghatak,China Gate,Pukar,The legend of Bhagat Singh,Lajja and others is back with a bang after almost 10 yrs .

Set in an imaginary world where Gandhiji survives the assassination attempt and he comes face to face with Godse and they two share their vicharon ka yudh.

If facts are to believed are true that he didn't pressurised for 55 crore aid to Pakistan then he was made a scapegoat. That scene was the finest in the movie .

Performance wise story is the hero.

Dipak antani as Gandhiji is fab so is Chinmay .

Music cinematography is top notch .

Tanisha Santoshi gives a decent performance at the beginning but a little below average in the emotional part but she will improve in coming years .

Welcome Back Maestro ! RajKumar Santoshi.

Valorising gandhi is what this movie does.

While the director has claimed to be honest and unbiased, this movie doesn't show that. The overall impression which you get after watching is that godse was an immature guy who only believed in hindu rashtra ideology and out of sheer anger he tried to kill gandhi. But what about his speech which he gives in the court... What about the background and reasoning of him trying to kill gandhi... None of it has been shown. This is 2023 and there is a lot of information floating around.... I would definitely suggest the director that if this is the level of presentation u think people are expecting.,then you seriously need to work on your craft. Rather than this fictional tale where godse saves gandhi in the end and they both come out as a friend, had the director shown what actually happened, it would have gone far better. The movie may show the facts but the emotional impact which it creates is the valorisation of gandhi's ideology.....

An experimental movie that gives us something fresh and unique

My favorite things, among others, is to watch a healthy debate. And this film, an 'after-hours' dissection offers a fresh look at history that is mildly thought provoking yet surprisingly light-headed and entertaining. It does leave you with questions, answers, and some more things to reflect upon. As someone who comes from both the schools of thought through lineage, I chuckled at how accurate some depictions were- of believers, of naysayers and of followers who choose to follow for no particular or sound basis/reason. Rajkumar Santoshi and team have given us a film that feels fresh in its devices, the lightness of touching narratives set in stone through decades. AR Rahman's score gave me chills at many places. Goes without saying that man understand cinema, emotions, dialog and poignance of it all like a master. The use of silences and mellow instruments like a flute here a pipe there and the symphonic touches are just other-worldly and underline the film's honest storytelling. Vaishnav Jan To sequence, the opening credits, the end credits suite(Raghupati Raghav) and Godse theme are all Rahman gems from his endless vault of magic.

While the film is far from perfect, we do get flashes of command over scenes, over dialog and over techniques like camera angles and light that infuses life in what essentially is a four-walled play(given it is a play adaptation) within a film's periphery. I particularly liked the courage of the film to humanize these characters through addition of drama and side characters that give us a lens to peep into the ideologies and the ideological conflict at play. Gandhi Godse is definitely a worthy film to catch in the sea of noises. You will walk away with some good thought or the other, if nothing else, you will walk away with a few smiles.

After a lot of hesitations I decided to watch this movie as in past found most of Santoshi ji's movies satisfactory .

Pleased to convey my happiness and advice viewers to watch this leaving all prejudices behind. The best seen in this movie is Godse saving Gandhi ji from his killer.

Movie has done justice with both ideologies. Very well presented their ideology in story. Must watch for both camps those who love Gandhi ji and also folks who appreciate Godse thoughts. Brilliant scripts and powerfull acting by all characters. Kudos to Rajkumar Santoshi ji 🎉 for clearing many people's confusion. Wishing all the success to this beautiful movie.

Everyone Must Watch This Movie Just Like We watched The Kashmir Files... And Ending Is Superb.

Watching a film is perhaps one of the most straightforward tasks there is. You don't need to do much. Even so, it's one of the most exhilarating pastimes available. But what if you could heighten the experience even more?

Film creators put an excessive amount of detail in their movies. Unfortunately, the average viewer misses the majority of them. That's not a bad thing, but by learning to pick up on the details, you could enjoy films so much more.

Acting Is Just Superb. And After Kashmir Files Atleast Someone Came To Produce Such a Great Movie...

The title of movie can be misleading and people might think that the movie would be a propaganda piece of some ideology. But I assure you that this the most unbiased movie ever and no matter what party you support or whatever ideology you are aligned with, you will find the movie relevant and rational. Though its a fictional take that if gandhi would have survived the assassination by godse, the events shown ahead in the movie seem very realistic and appropriate. It beautifully shows the conflict of ideologies between gandhi and godse despite both of their ultimate aim being national service. It is a must watch movie.

So much potential gone waste

A brilliant concept

However, the folks behind the movie haven't really done justice to it

It is very "preachy" and sounds like a monologue many a times

The concept was a high potential one: to challenge some views of Gandhiji and really debate and thrash them out. The film makers have simply not done ANY justice to it at all. They could have done a lot more.

For example: there are many controversies surrounding Gandhi ji , and none of these have been done justice to in the move:

* That he appeased a certain community by bending over backwards,

* that he discouraged Netaji Subash Chandra Bose,

* that he wanted people to just surrender and sacrifice not just their lives, but also the lives of their children for the sake of non-violence

* that he got VVIP treatment in jail and was in cahoots with the British

* that he overruled the majority vote that Sardar Patel got and insisted on Nehru becoming the prime minister

* that he had wanted the Congress to be dismantled after India got independence... and a lot more!

Highly mediocre movie, given the points that it could have intelligently addressed. Sad loss of potential .

Excellent movie with correct and truthful historical facts

This movie is excellent movie which should be seen by everyone who loves history. Based on TRUE events. It reveals many historical facts in most presentable and fictional way.

Rajkumar santoshi has shown courage to put this movie in public.

The acting is very superb. The dialogue delivery is superb. Nathuram was TRUE nationalist and this movie is shown courage to keep these facts in public domain. Many historical facts has been presented in presentable manner. Nathuram was TRUE nationalist. Gandhi was killed by him because of ideological differences. Before seeing this movie I was worried on ever public will know TRUE incidents happen.

Wasted opportunity, pathetic research behind the movie.

There is no "yuddhh" in this movie.

Portraying Godse as modern day extreme RW troll.

While everyone who would go to watch this movie wants to hear both side and their perspective.

But damn that biased research, wasted the full point of dialogue between both.

So many missing points and clues, especially from the Godse's side.

There's an incident where someone asks Godse why didn't you hit Angrez when they were doing the hinsa and Godse walks back without answer. If you know even a little bit about "Mi Nathuram Godse boltoy" you'd know thats not how Godse's character was.

There are so many other points that shows little to no research on to put Godse's perspective.

Just watching YouTube podcasts on the incident might give you better perspective compared to this movie.

This is a great movie with great massage.

This is a very good movie in which the difference between two different ideologies has been shown and it has been shown that despite being different from each other, both the ideologies are necessary for a good and prosperous nation. Some goodness has also been shown in both the ideologies and some flaws too. This has also given a message to the public that if non-violence is necessary for the unity of a nation, then violence is also necessary to fight against external forces and to protect our nation and our culture. In this it has also been shown how a right demand of someone can be shown wrong in front of the people by the brokers of politics. In the end, I would say that according to me, if India wants to become a world guru, then India needs Godse along with Gandhi and if the thinking of both of them is used in the right direction, then definitely one day India and India's culture Will rule the world.

Disaster And Pathetic Movie Waste Of Time

I am forced to put one star because 0 stars is not an option.

Great acting by the actors of Gandhi and Godse and i applaud them for their performance.

However the movie itself lets you down.

Extremely disappointing potrayal of such a beautiful topic.

The use of fake news reports should not be allowed. They have used newspaper article formats to portray untrue things. While I understand it is a fictional movie news reports should not be used as it confuses people and I myself had to fact check them (they were all untrue). Eg: Gandhi opposes power plant.

They have tried to add a comedic element throughout the film which is not necessary nor is it apt. Eg: sushmas mother's character There's no continuity in the Film. Many scenes do not make sense.

Unhappy about the film. Hope someone makes a better film on this topic.

A worth watching movie by people of all age

This is a fictional movie but the writer and the director of the movie was very clear with the vision the movie holds, a wonderful performance by all the actors and especially the ones playing Gandhi and Godse, i will give it an 8.5 or 9 to be precise just because of some fake comedic elements which weren't required at all and just made the experience of the movie a bit lower, especially the sushma's mother's character, the movie would have been very smooth and clear without that but overall this movie was a great experience and these kind of movies should be promoted as it opens up the story in support of both the primary characters and people will understand all the things going on much better and the best part of the movie is that it makes you feel that you are actually present between them.

A pro-competition movie. Gandhi lovers did not expect this. Raj Kumar Santoshi is not expecting this movie Gandhi and his puppets. The name of this film should be Santoshi, Gandhi vs Gods. Gandhi must be good. Director Santoshi appears to be Gandhi's puppet as only good things are shown and if Gandhi survives after the shooting as per this film. Santoahi the name of this movie should not.be gandhi vs godse it should.be gandhi good.things as it only showed good things made by director Santoshi seems like he is also puppet of gandhi and also as per this movie if gandhi survived after shot by Godse then why the hell he.was hanged not sure if Santoshi has showed a single scene which shows Godse was right problem director was not in his senses for me it's a waste of time.
