Pivotal episode in the series has a revelation involving a possible accomplice working in concert with psychopath Wakefield who is on a rampage, killing off a number of cast members. Love doesn't conquer all as seen here when Wakefield uses his makeshift machete to impale one while the other decides to plummet to her doom instead of let him kill her.
Underground tunnels are how Wakefield travels, and the remaining survivors (two in the bar get the penetration of the blade) work up a plan to seal them off so it cuts away his method of moving around so freely. Abby makes it her mission to kill Wakefield while Henry attempts to calm her raging storm. Like many other frustrating slasher movies, this series does the same thing with people letting off shotgun rounds and rifle shots, completely and utterly missing Wakefield who stands still as if to dare to them to hit him! It gets so ridiculous, the show becomes almost a parody. Chloe's kidnapping (Wakefield does so pretty much right in front of them yet seemingly he carries her away without a hitch or sound inside of a chapel as the group are scattered and should see and hear him) motivates Cal to throw caution to the wind to find her as Wakefield has stored her in a locked drain as bait.
Wakefield brazenly just approaches all comers despite the fact that they have guns. He must have more than nine lives because with the shotgun blasts blowing holes in doors he is behind banging on, you'd think he was immortal. Maybe Wakefield is an X-Man. I don't know: the show should really land a punch in the gut but because it is so implausible with how no character can hit the broad side of a barn despite the fact that Wakefield stands out in the open a lot of times, this episode is laughable when it should be emotionally wrenching. As a body count episode, it gets rid of a lot of cast members so in that regard it clears away running victims. The boat needed to get them off the island is gone, with little Madison (who trusted Wakefield) and her mama reading up on material the sheriff had collected in studying the Wakefield murders...this is where they realize another person might be working with Wakefield. This cliffhangs the episode as Trish is in a car sitting right next to him! Wakefield, standing confidently on a bridge, teasing Abby regarding two people who die at his hands provides plenty of incentive for her to kill his ass.
I sure hate seeing Cameron Richardson's departure from the series as she was a major babe, certainly nice to look at and imagine naked. Also Adam Campbell's Brit she was involved with turned out to be quite a credible hero and stronger than he appeared to his peers on the island. With the fat trimmed significantly, the remaining characters left have a few possible candidates still left to bite the dust (like Matt Barr's spiky haired Sully and Brandon McLaren's Danny) but we are starting to get to the nitty gritty. The show gave a nice send off to Ben Cotton's Shane, often considered a source of annoyance and aggravation to the cast. He honorably faces off with Wakefield, providing time for the others to get out of the bar. When you have a small knife compared to a killer wielding a machete blade, the fight isn't going to bode well in your favor. Particularly if it is Wakefield who seems invincible (it's a slasher series, remember?).
