More often than not, people are encouraged not to do business with family or friends. For the Holmes family, however, being in business together has worked out quite nicely. Each member of the Holmes family has something special to bring to the table and they are hoping to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone they help. And just like that, “Holmes Family Effect” is over. At least the Fox import grew (a bit) in overall audience averages from its first week to its last. It helped that CBS aired all reruns last night. ABC kicked off primetime with the season finale of its “To Tell the Truth” game show. NBC finished first in the key demo’s ratings for Tuesday’s primetime period, led by “This Is Us.” CBS was still No. 1 in total viewers since its encores were “NCIS,” “FBI” and “FBI: Most Wanted” repeats. Also Read: 18 New Winter Shows Ranked by Premiere Viewers, From 'Debris' to 'Holmes Family Effect' (Photos) NBC was first in ratings with a 0.6 rating/4 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and second in total viewers with an average of 3.8 million, according to preliminary numbers. “Young Rock” at 8 p.m. put up a 0.6/4 and 2.9 million total viewers.

As if the Grammys ratings weren’t rough enough, CBS aired “Grammys Salute to the Sounds of Change” on Wednesday. The special settled for a weak 0.2 rating/2 share among adults 18-49 and had just 1.5 million total viewers. Those are not good numbers. Univision finished third in the key demo’s ratings, besting both CBS and ABC by that Nielsen metric. At least ABC aired mostly reruns. Mike Holmes’ “Holmes Family Effect” may have a positive effect on local communities, but it did not have the same impact on Fox’s Tuesday ratings. Airing two hours of the imported CTV (Canada) show, Fox finished fifth on broadcast in total viewers — behind Univision. It tied ABC and Telemundo for fourth place in the key ratings demo, adults 18-49. That trio ranked behind Univision in primetime demo ratings. CBS won the evening with “NCIS” and two other procedurals. It was a down night for many shows on Tuesday night.
The Flash Season 7 Episode 3 concluded its Mirrorverse arc at a series low in the demo.
The series drew 1 million total viewers and a 0.2 rating -- down a tenth week-to-week.
Meanwhile, Superman & Lois came down to 1.2 million viewers and a 0.2 rating -- posting series lows.
Fear not, both shows are already picked up for next season and are solid performers when delayed viewing is factored in.
Over on CBS, a shocking episode of NCIS (9.5 million/0.8 rating) was steady, leading the night in total viewers.
FBI (7.9 million/0.7 rating) and FBI: Most Wanted (6.2 million/0.6 rating) were identical to their week-ago numbers.
NBC's rotation of This Is Us (4.8 million/0.8 rating) and New Amsterdam (3.6 million/0.4 rating) each came down to lows.

Dan Harrison never wanted “Holmes Family Effect” for Fox, but here we are.
When the coronavirus pandemic halted all television production in the United States, the Fox Entertainment EVP of program planning and content strategy had to get creative — and get on the phone with suppliers. First, Harrison acquired “L.A.’s Finest” from Spectrum.
Then he went international.
Ok, so Canada, where the Holmes Family operates both its building and television business, isn’t that far. It’s also proven to be a pretty good place to import shows from. “Schitt’s Creek” found enormous success coming down from Canada, and NBC has plugged some scheduling holes with medical dramas “Transplant” and “Nurses.”
It just makes sense. For starters, setting aside French for a second, we share a language. And these days, it feels like half of our American productions are actually shot in Vancouver anyway.
