Quite liked this one, after a terrible episode 3. Empire period, a Jedi trying to hide her identity, sticking to her code, she mentions her "master". It gels well, unlike the dark twins episode, and hints and suggests of possibilities.

Now this was pretty solid!
I was worried, thought we wouldn't get much backstory or info about anything, but it gradually got better with each passing minute.
The cultural stuff on this planet was legitimately interesting and actually pretty believable. Ir felt like something we'd see in a canon Star Wars show, maybe one of Filoni's many shows. I didn't love some of the costume designs but that's merely a nitpick.
I legitimately want to see more from the Jedi protagonist, and the guy in the helmet as well. They were both quite likable in the end, and her story was particularly one I wanted more of. Loved her action moments as well.
The animation was pretty cool. Not my favorite style in this series but not bad, and the voice work was good.
Really solid episode. Canon or not, it felt pretty Star Wars-y.

I really loved this one. The tranquility and serenity underlying the episode, and it's smaller story about sacrifice and protection is one I really love. There are parts I don't get so much like this Jedi's code, and whether or not that guy was just the planet's memories, but I don't really care. Nice story, beautiful set, great music, pretty quotable. I hope to see more from whoever wrote this, and an expansion of extension of this story or similar.

I don't watch anime. This happens to be the first
anime I have ever watched. It has just never
appealed to me, but I love Star Wars, so I
decided to give it a try.
This was my favorite episode of the first four. Something about this episode appealed to me. Maybe it was the characters. I really loved the characters, all of them. Once again this show perfectly executes developing the story and characters in just under 20 minutes. You seriously feel a connection with some of the characters, then are sad when the episode ends because you won't see them again. I honestly wish some of these episodes were their own series. The visuals were also once again amazing, and the build up to the battle was great. This was one of the slower episodes, but it makes up for it at the end. First off, we get to see anime Seperatist Droids, that was amazing, secondly, the action and what the Jedi was able to do was very cool. I won't spoil it though.
I also got to give credit to Nichole Sakura who played Haru. I loved her in "Superstore" and I feel her voice fit perfectly for her role in this episode. The best of the series so far.

Episode 4 of "Star Wars Visions" was another episode that perhaps is not the visual treat that "The Duel" was but is perhaps the second-best story of the run so far. It again takes what seems like a classic narrative and pushes it through a Star Wars filter.
On a forest planet, where the locals share a special kinship with The Force, a Jedi master F, (Karen Fukuhara) on the run following the fall of the Jedi order, is hiding with her friend Valco (Car-Hiroyuki Tagawa). They observe a village that, though far from the influence of the Empire, is suffering under the hands of a local warlord, who has reprogrammed a droid army to act under his control. Tomorrow morning, the granddaughter of the chief will be taken as collateral to keep the remaining villagers in check. When Lord Izuma (Andrew Kishino) arrives to take her away, F must decide whether to take the risk of revealing herself, to defend the village.
Visually, we're nearer Tatooine Rhapsody, than The Duel - with the show resembling common animation from Japanese shows, although some of the background work is perhaps a class above. The vocal performances are a lot better though, and the story, once it gets going, is really good. The best element was the excellent soundtrack played on traditional musical instruments.
I still think that "The Duel" was the best episode so far, but there's plenty to recommend about this one.

Incredible, heartfelt and grounded.

Possibly the best from Visions, this is a beautiful episode that restrains it's action until it let's loose into a quick Samurai flurry.
Might not be for everyone but it mixes the best of Dave Filoni's exploration of other culture's view of the force and a post 66 universe and I love it all the more because it doesn't rush it's action or character moments.

Yikes, she has a two inch scar on her lower cheek, better mask up that hideous deformation. I opened with that snarky remark because after 'Mortal Engines', I am kind of tired of minor scratches being considered monstrous. (I myself have a very visible scar under my eye but have never thought of putting on a men-yoroi to disguise myself. Never mind, that's a minor gripe. To the actual episode.
This was... Star Wars? Not gonna lie, until the last few minutes, I wasn't sure if we were watching a space soap opera, or a Japanese 'Dragon Prince' fan film. The masked Jedi lady was a cool design, and her mentor?/father?/friend?/random acquaintance? Was interesting, though like most of these shorts, a lot of deeper lore and unexplained context made me feel lost more than intrigued largely. The art style was very nice (I just prefer the more realistic style (sorry, TO-B1)), and it made me wish we could have had some kind of duel, though this episode seemed more interested in talking about communing with nature than an action sequence :(. An expansion of this lore in the form of a limited series or something wouldn't be entirely unwelcome to me, but if it comes to this or The Ninth Jedi, I'm the latter all the way.

On a whim, I decided to check out one of these "Visions", even though I'm not necessarily an anime or Star Wars fan. However, I was left pleasantly surprised in some areas.
While the overall premise is surprisingly bland, I enjoyed how it unfolded. I'm glad it took its time to build its characters instead of the short entirely consisting of fighting (something that Marvel's "What If?", a show with a similar premise, seems to do), I wasn't necessarily invested in any of the characters.
I feel as though there was a very interesting backstory to this small town, and that it used the Star Wars elements of war really well. However, there just wasn't enough actual STORY to get me into it.
The visuals are STUNNING, which is why I'm giving this such a high rating. I'm just a sucker for beautiful animation. It definitely added to the whimsy of the story, even if the whimsy was short-lived, with only a classic "mysterious Jedi reveal" being the thing that kept my interest.
I'd like to see more of these, with hopefully a bit more substance. However, this was perfectly enjoyable, not to mention beautifully made.

Best Season 1 Visions Episode

This story was the best. Disney should really consider following up on this story line. So many questions regarding the protagonist's past and even the planet this episode took place on. The music, art, and character designs were breathtaking.

I really enjoyed this episode, this is probably my 3rd favorite out of the 9, with the 9th jedi being 1 and the duel being 2. I really loved how connected the village tribe was with their environment, felt more on the spiritual side of the force. It felt natural, like this side of star wars was long overdue. It was giving me almost a Avatar (2009) vibe. I loved the character design of the main protagonist too, she looked so cool and mysterious, I only wished it was longer because this episode felt rushed towards the end. And her Lightsaber! It was thin like an actual samurai sword which was so awesome to see, and watch her slice down the raider boss with one sweep was beautiful. I hope we get to see more of her.
Okay, much like the others, it starts out almost OK, if a bit dull

It keeps dulling, and dulling, and THEN finally dulls a bit more. Nothing even remotely Star Wars until the separatists are mentioned. Nothing interesting at all happens until the very end, because preceding the very end it is just packed with content that is nothing but an endeavor to gain SJW clout. Watching socks dry is less boring than this. I am actually tired after watching it.
They know what they are doing.

This was undoubtedly my favorite episode. Not only did it fit into the Star Wars universe I know and love so well, but on it's own merit the narrative and characters were fleshed out well despite the short runtime. The visuals and sound design really engrossed me in the story and world. The story wasn't anything too crazy, but that helped, because it felt a lot like a standalone episode in The Clone Wars where there is solid focus on telling a specific tale, while alluding to some mystery that could be elaborated on in the future.
If I have one small criticism, it's that the "I am a Jedi" moment felt a little cliché and not quite earned.

The previous 2 were bad, but this one was awesome especially the end fight was when she ignites her yellow lightsaber. For those unfamiliar with yellow bladed lightsabers there's various reasons depending on which lore you look up on but the yellow kyber crystal that a jedi uses implies that they are of great user in the force, very unique. And was used by jedi temple guards. So this jedi using one indicates she's a very strong jedi and those enemies didn't stand a chance against such a strong force user 💛 plus her blade looked like an actual sword something really different and cool and unique.
Never thought it's possible to fear the Battle Droids.

Absolutely amazing episode. The best episode yet. Brought tears to my eyes. It had 2 strong visual moments that I loved.
Spoiler. The Battle Droids dropping down and the look on the warlord combined with the music gave a very sinister feeling. Never thought it's possible to fear the Battle Droids. Later they were back to their comedic routine which was unfortunate.
The Jedi strike was absolutely amazing. You just hear the swoosh of the saber and never see any movements, not even a blurry thing or a ghost movement. Later the warlord realizes what has happened. I want to see that in a movie. The Jedi strike without you seeing anything.

Aside from some pretty animation (e.g. The shimmering dawn sky) this was one of the weaker episodes of this anthology series.
Other than some superficial Star Wars elements like battle droids and lightsabers, this felt completely unconnected to George Lucas's mythology.
Obviously, it's INTENTIONALLY "experimental" but now Disney's done "the experiment", we can safely say it FAILED miserably.
