Chicago – How much do I love “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure”? Many of my fantasy sports teams over the years have been named Wild Stallyns, after the fictional rock band fronted by the title characters. That’s how much. I adored this movie when I was a teenager upon its first release and the movie still has such a joyful energy that is so commonly missing from modern comedies. It may be dumb fun but it’s infectiously so.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
The blu-ray for “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” is a little slight on special features and the HD transfer is pretty standard stuff. This is essentially just an import of the DVD to the HD format. However, if you’re like most Blu-ray collectors and have stored your standard DVDs away and wonder if the nostalgia you feel for Bill, Ted, Rufus, and the Wyld Stallyns isn’t worried, take...

This February, "The Simpsons" could break another world record.
In celebration of the cartoon's historic 500th episode milestone (Sun., Feb. 19), Fox is inviting "The Simpsons" lovers to participate in a marathon that will hopefully lead to a new record for the longest continuous television viewing. The current Guinness World Record of 86 hours, 6 minutes and 41 seconds.
The "Ultimate Fan Marathon Challenge" at Hollywood & Highland in Los Angeles will begin on Wed., Feb. 8, as "The Simpsons" superfans come together to -- if they succeed -- watch 500 continuous episodes through Feb. 19. The winner will take home $10,500 and some special merchandise, of course.
The iconic animated series already holds Guinness World Records for the longest running animated series, the longest running sitcom and the most Emmy Awards won for an animated series, among others.
But a decade ago, "The Simpsons" parodied Guinness World Records, in the Season 13 episode "Sweet and Sour Marge," in which...

Elvis is back in the building. Scotty McCreery made his mark on Wednesday's American Idol - which presented the final five, with Sheryl Crow mentoring - by bringing out the big guns: Elvis's sentimental chesnut "Always on My Mind." He sang it with the easy inevitability of bread browning in a toaster. Jennifer Lopez said he'd proven his versatility. "Beautiful," said Steven Tyler. Each singer got to sing twice on Wednesday - one contemporary song and one classic. McCreery also covered Montgomery Gentry's "Gone," and it was a total smash and surprise, chugging along with locomotive energy. "I saw...

Plus, Haley Reinhart redeems herself with bluesy 'House of the Rising Sun' on Then and Now-themed night.

The theme for Wednesday night's (May 4) top-five "American Idol" performance show was Then and Now, and the remaining contestants went out of their way to let viewers know exactly what musical pocket they've settled into with their song choices.
Helping to guide them along was Grammy-winning superstar Sheryl Crow. And while some, like front-runners Scotty McCreery and James Durbin, hit a pair of home runs — including a Durbin performance that was one of the most emotional in "Idol" history — frequent bottom-three dweller Haley Reinhart stumbled in the judges' eyes with an unreleased Lady Gaga song, only to storm back into their hearts with a show-closing, vocal-fireworks display.

Right on the heels of the announcement that Bill and Ted’s 3 is actually going to happen, China has announced that they will ban all production of time travel movies. These two events are seemingly unrelated. Or are they??? Said Chinese authorities: “The time-travel drama is becoming a hot theme for TV and films, but its content and the exaggerated performance style are questionable. Many stories are totally made-up and are made to strain for an effect of novelty. The producers and writers are treating the serious history in a frivolous way, which should by no means be encouraged anymore.” How convenient! I think the real issue is that China is obsessed with Sad Keanu and they want him to be even sadder by denying billions of people seeing B&T3, his triumphant comeback. They also must have a personal vendetta against Alex Winter. What that would be I haven’t quite figured out yet.

Christmas is almost upon which then of course means that New Year’s will be here faster than you can say Auld Lang Syne. Have you decided how you’ll be ringing out the old and ushering in the new yet?
Well, how about giving 2010 a proper send-off with a night of delicious food, drink, and laughs featuring one of the best romantic comedies ever made?
Sound good? Yeah, we thought so. Thankfully, there is still time to snatch up tickets to our event which fits this very bill: The When Harry Met Sally New Year’s Eve Feast Gala on Dec 31 at Alamo Ritz.
Still need some convincing? Check out the menu below prepared by Ritz head chef Elijah Horgan to perfectly compliment the film… with a nod to Sally’s high maintenance eating habits.

This is a Recap of Top Chef D.C. (Season 7), Episode 12, Part 1 of the Finale, originally airing September 8, 2010. D.C. now gives way to D-Cingapore. What? Just move on from this Italics part. Welcome to Singapore! The culinary capital of the area right around Singapore! Your host for the Finale will be Seetoh, the Asian Cee-Lo, and owner of the lamest lower-third of the entire season: “King of Street Food” — it’s like being the King of Pop, but homeless. Cee-Lo takes the chefs around to different street food stands and introduces them to the many spices and styles of Singaporese (Singaporian? Singlish? Gotta be Singlish) cuisine, and in the middle of their little food jaunt, the chefs encounter Padma. Oh no, a twist! Bravo didn’t just send them to Singapore to chill and look at that modern-ass skyline building! The chefs will be cooking in a street space...

If you get a girl pregnant, I think you should give her a gift, even if it’s worth more than the baby.
Despite the ridiculous writing in this week’s episode, (see below for sampler, The Secret Life’s “Sweet and Sour” actually made a few decent points. We see Ricky go to therapy and question important issues; we see Ben’s testicles descend a tiny bit; and, for once, we get a lesson about teenage worries other than pregnancy.
Of course, there’s the fair share of stupid things that no one cares about, such as Madison and Lauren getting sent to summer school as a punishment. Everyone finally realizes they forgot Amy’s birthday, but knowing these selfish clowns no one will make up for it. And, naturally, the absurd amount of Betty (aka Stifler’s mom) one-liners that almost made me choke.
Now, onto the good stuff.

I woke up with a serious case of Cannes Envy this morning. There's no way around unwanted feelings so you plunge in them to get to the other side. That's the way to do it, right? Or that's the way Nathaniel (c'est moi) does it. Maybe that's the masochist's way? So herewith... random thoughts on Cannes photos, fashions, and tweets from people I was exceptionally jealous of all day. Cuz they're... you know... there. In the thick of it.
Please note: If y'all don't start commenting soon, we're likely to take a long summer hiatus and see you ungrateful beyootches in October when Oscar buzz heats up. Comments are like food. Feed the insatiable Film Experience Beast!
We begin with two questions starring Gael García Bernal.
1. Is he, like, inviting us to pose with him here? Won't he be crushed in the mass forward rush of crazed lustful exhibitionist fans?...

Our second annual New Year’s celebration of classic cinema, cocktails and cuisine at The Ritz!!
2008’s screening of After The Thin Man was a true extravaganza, bringing together an incredible drinking/dining experience with one of the greatest film’s of Hollywood’s golden era. This year, we’re stepping it up with the flat-out greatest New Year’s film in the world: Billy Wilder’s 1960 masterpiece The Apartment, a brilliantly written, fast-paced, heartbreakingly hilarious adventure of a poor schlub (a young, bumbling Jack Lemmon) who just can’t steer things right to fall into the good graces of the most wonderful woman in town (a young, unbelievably charming Shirley MacLaine). In his way are an innumerable number of comic obstacles, including the great Fred MacMurray and Ray Walston as self-serving high-rollers content to kick dirt in the face of anyone who crosses them.
It’s a gorgeously shot,...
