The Calico is sailing the Nile and a scientist has just uncovered a buried tomb (pyramid basically) with a golden disc on the front. I think when sunlight hits the disc, it brings to life the two stone guardians. Lion looking fellows.
The guardians emit cold, freezing air.
Our scientist here stumbles upon the Calico crew and Quinn declares he is suffering from frostbite, peculiar in the desert.
They investigate the pyramid tomb and begin digging.
Now at this moment, the exhausted Captain Carl Majors gives way to a remarkable imitation of Charlton Heston, not by what he says (basically he wants to abandon the work to the women and kids) but the way he says it. True Chuck.
Pete and Godzooky get lost in a whirlpool refilling the canteens and emerge up in the pyramid.
The stone idols are revived once more, and we get a delightful scene of the idols slowly emerging over the dune while Carl, Quinn and Brock blindly continue on with their digging.
They finally see the idols and strain to find a hiding place in the tomb, which already has Pete and Godzooky.
Godzilla of course is summoned and saves the day.
Episode begins with an intriguing shot as well, as a vehicle barrels toward the camera. Shots such as this, cartoonic or lifelike, were virtually unheard of in HB cartoons.
