At long last, Eddie Murphy is reprising his role as street-smart cop Axel Foley in the fourth instalment of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise, which is set to hit Netflix this summer. But, it isn’t easy being a middle aged action star. It’s been nearly thirty years since we last saw Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley, and in a recent interview with People Magazine he admitted that the shoot was a “rough one”.“I did Axel Foley when I was in my 20s. I am not in my 20s anymore,” he said. At any rate, Murphy won’t be the only aged actor from the original to show up, with many of the classic Beverly Hills Cop cast members are set to join him in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley. Here’s everything we know about Beverly Hills Cop 4!

On-location filming in Los Angeles fell last year to its lowest levels in 25 years, totaling just under 19,000 shoot days – or about half the number in each of the previous four years, according to data compiled by FilmLA.
Despite the pandemic, production activity picked up considerably in the fourth quarter of 2020, though it still slipped by more than 25% compared with the same period in 2019, the city and county’s film permit office reported today.
FilmLA estimates that 198 television projects were forced to shut down last year between mid-March and the end of May, including 57 TV pilots. “What was to be a solid year for scripted TV was quickly reversed, as production schedules were delayed until the fall of 2020 and/or pushed back into 2021,” the agency said.
Recovery for the feature film category, however, “could be close at hand,” FilmLA said, noting that fourth-quarter levels for features “resemble pre-pandemic levels” seen in...

Exclusive: Dan Bucatinsky is returning to ABC’s Thursday lineup.
The actor, who won an Emmy for his recurring role on Tgit drama Scandal, has joined the cast of ABC’s new Katey Sagal-starring series Rebel, which earlier today was slotted in the Thursday 10 Pm slot starting April 8. He is coming off a series regular role on another ABC series, The Baker and the Beauty.
Created by Krista Vernoff inspired by the life of Erin Brockovich today, Rebel centers on Annie “Rebel” Bello (Sagal), a blue-collar legal advocate without a law degree. She’s a funny, messy, brilliant and fearless woman who cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves. When Rebel applies herself to a fight she believes in, she will win at almost any cost.
Bucatinsky will play Jason Erickson, an edgy, somewhat bitter university professor who Rebel (Sagal) seeks out to enlist his help.

Exclusive: A Black Lady Sketch Show head writer Lauren Ashley Smith is set to write and exec produce the U.S. remake of British comedy Timewasters, which is in the works at ABC.
The single-camera comedy comes from CBS Studios. ABC is developing the remake of ITV2’s time-traveling jazz comedy as part of its second-cycle development process.
Timewasters was created by Daniel Lawrence Taylor, who also starred in it, and ran for two seasons on ITV2 in the UK. It was nominated for a BAFTA in 2018 for Best Scripted Comedy alongside Michaela Coel’s Chewing Gum and Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney’s Catastrophe as well as the winner BBC mockumentary This Country, which is being remade at Fox.
The U.S. adaptation will revolve around four Black twentysomething New Yorkers who accidentally end up in the year 1926, despite being deeply unenthusiastic about and deeply unequipped for time travel.

Krista Vernoff will be providing a full night of entertainment on ABC this March.
The Grey's Anatomy and Station 19 showrunner's new drama series will finally hit the air later this year.
But there's some bad news for fans of A Million Little Things:
Rebel has been handed the plum post-Grey's Anatomy slot that Amlt has called home since 2019.
As a result, Amlt will be returning to its old stomping grounds on Wednesdays beginning April 7.
The series was moved to Thursdays during its first season in an attempt to boost the ratings.
ABC also announced that Grey's Anatomy and Station 19 would no longer be returning on March 4 as planned.
The rejigged Thursday lineup kicks off Thursday, March 11.

Krista Vernoff‘s already-considerable clout at ABC is growing: The Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 showrunner’s new drama series Rebel is knocking A Million Little Things out of its Thursday perch.
Beginning April 8, the Erin Brockovich-inspired Rebel — created by Vernoff and starring Katey Sagal — will take over Amlt‘s Thursday-at-10 time slot, where it will follow Grey’s and Station 19. The move essentially gives Vernoff her own night of programming (following in the footsteps of her esteemed colleague Shonda Rhimes).

ABC is moving forward with Sam Esmail’s procedural Acts of Crime, handing the project a pilot pick-up.
It marks the latest move in the network’s second cycle development plan for the 2020/21 season and marks the Mr. Robot creator’s first foray into broadcast television.
Deadline understands that the pilot, which comes from UCP and ABC Signature, will be shot this spring.
Esmail, who also adapted the Homecoming podcast for Amazon, is writing, directing and exec producing with his Esmail Corp partner Chad Hamilton set as an EP.
The network didn’t offer much detail of the project, which is described as a “unique spin” on the crime procedural.
It is a rare broadcast sale by UCP, where Esmail is under an overall deal. Esmail is also working with the NBCU-owned studio on limited series Angelyne and the Battlestar Galactica reboot.

It is January, which marks the start of the broadcast pilot season when networks begin to pick up their crop of pilots for next season. Not this year. In January 2021, most broadcast networks are still getting ready to film some of their 2020 pilots and the country is going through a deadly Covid-19 surge, with California as the epicenter.
The coronavirus pandemic blew up the 2020 pilot season by grounding almost all pilots just as they were heading into production. The shakeup led to nets embracing straight-to-series orders in a bigger way, relying on extra backup scripts to make their decisions. Fox, which already had started a transition to year-round development, over the summer adjusted its approach to development and will be commissioning a mix of traditional pilots, lower-cost presentations, writers rooms as well as outright straight-to-series orders going forward. An unprecedented surge in coronavirus infections and deaths in Los Angeles County has prompted numerous TV shows to delay their return to production following the holiday hiatus.
The studios are responding to an appeal by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, which urged the film and TV industry to consider pausing production for a few weeks during the ongoing surge in coronavirus cases throughout the county. Studios and streamers had been reviewing the logistics involved, including talent availability and whether cast and crew would be paid for the additional idle days. All productions have been following strict Covid-19 protocols since filming resumed.
Here’s a list of shows with their original planned return dates along with their new expected return-to-production dates. We will update the list as additional shows are announced.
Sony Pictures Television:

ABC has firmed up its midseason schedule, setting up early 2021 premiere dates for its scripted series. That includes ABC’s returning scripted series and new comedy Call Your Mother, starring Kyra Sedgwick.
Call Your Mother and The Rookie, which were originally on ABC’s fall schedule before being pushed, are slated in their previously designated slots, Wednesday 9:30 Pm behind The Conners, and Sunday at 10 Pm, respectively.
As ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke indicated in May, Black-ish, joined by spinoff Mixed-ish, will be back in the Tuesday 9-10 Pm hour starting in January. The Tuesday 8-10 Pm block was temporary taken over by The Bachelorette this fall as the summer staple’s season was delayed by the pandemic. We are just days away from the return of The Conners, and we have an exciting update about Katey Sagal's Louise.
If you watch The Conners online, you know Sagal was introduced as a love interest for Dan (John Goodman), and with her casting on new drama Rebel, it seemed like her days were numbered on the series.
In a new interview with TV Line, The Conners showrunner, Bruce Helford, has confirmed Sagal will not be exiting the series.
He said that Sagal had contacted him via a note to explain that the production schedule for Rebel would not conflict with The Conners, and asked if she could remain on the series.
"The first thing that Katey did [after Rebel was picked up] was send us an email saying, 'Do not hire a new girlfriend for Dan — I am not abdicating my role,'" Helford explained to TV Line, before...

Over 317 episodes, “Grey’s Anatomy” has tackled everything from mass shootings to plane crashes. But when the writers’ room for the ABC medical drama convened in June, showrunner Krista Vernoff posed a surprising hypothetical for Season 17: What if the show existed in a world without Covid-19?
“I think that people have fatigue of Covid, and I think they turn to our show for relief,” she told them over Zoom.
Then Vernoff challenged the room to change her mind: “Who wants to be brave and convince me that I’m wrong?”
Co-executive producer Lynne E. Litt went first, Vernoff recalled, and said, “’I think it’s the biggest medical story of our lifetimes.’” And then Litt pitched a story. Vernoff said she was also compelled by the doctors on the writing staff: Naser Alazari, who during the show’s hiatus had been working on the frontlines at a clinic, said that...

ABC today has given a 10-episode straight-to-series order to Rebel, its Katey Sagal-starring drama inspired by the life of activist Erin Brockovich. It hails from Brockovich, Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 executive producer/showrunner Krista Vernoff, Davis Entertainment, Sony Pictures TV and ABC Signature. It will debut in 2021.
Rebel was one of five 2020 ABC pilots — all grounded by the coronavirus pandemic — that were selected by the network in June to shoot once production can resume safely.
