Boo.
Whitneywest1023 May 2021
Based on other reviews, I'm the odd one out. The ending was great. It was all the in between that I found boring. As a reader, I despise info dumps in books, and this entire episode = info dump. Tell me a story.. lead me along as we get to the climax and ending and all the stuff before and in between. I get that some details are hard to work into a storyline just the way the story teller imagined it but it just feels cheap to me. I feel like I have to wait another whole week (actually it'll have been two) before this storyline actually advances. Most disappointing episode of the season for me so far. Which isn't saying a ton because despite this review and this episode, I absolutely love this show and hope it sticks around for a very long time.

Almost turned it Off

I agree 100% with the "Boo" reviewer - the first 2/3 of the show was a melodramatic morass and I was on the verge of cancelling the show from my "Watch List " - the last 15 minutes of the show took my rating from 1 to 8 - don't think that has ever happened before. I started watching this show because of "Walker Texas Ranger , but it was a bait and switch title - this has nothing to do with Walker Texas Ranger and very little to do with the Texas Rangers - needless to say the soapy wimp playing Walker would never have been a candidate for the Texas Rangers in Chuck Norris show but he works well in a Soapy family drama. If it wasn't for Lindsay Morgan ( who would have been a Texas Ranger in the Chuck Norris show ) - I would probably find something else to watch next year - this isn't my kind of show but for what it is - it is well done.

WHAT!

This is my favorite episode so far, in a horrible way. It's intense, and super insightful, and wow -- so important to the overall story. Stirred real physical reactions from me, and man, I might need a pacemaker after this one.

A whole episode of nothing with a nebulous ending!

Warning: Spoilers
This show has nothing more then name Walker from the show Walker Texas Range! I have watched each episode and there is little police work, but tons of family drama, and most of which has been done time and time again since the first days of TV just more graphic now!

This episode told in flashbacks was a total waste of time. All that was shown has been seen or implied since the pilot! Worse yet there was no ending! If you watched episode 11 Freedom but missed this one, you will not have missed a thing, hopefully episode 13 will have result as there none in this episode!

Amazing episode!!

This show got me hooked right from the very beginning, but wow this episode was top notch! Very impressed with the cast and their amazing acting, especially Jared, just wow! He has this ability to suck you in and feel every emotion he's feeling, and I end up wanting to cry or laugh, or so angry depending on what his emotion is! I cannot believe what happened in the end! I held my breath and was in the edge of my seat those last five minutes!!

Speechless

Overall I'm not crazy about this show. But this episode was just wow, really gave you and idea on what happened. Put the show in perspective. Fleshed out Bonham Walker really well. Able to understand why he's done what he's done. I really think this episode could have been shown earlier on.

Everything comes together
moviegeek_ny21 May 2021
This episode was simply incredible - all the storylines the show has built up so far tied up together in an episode that just keeps you on the edge of your seat. I expected this episode to be slower since I knew there would be flashbacks, but instead it was pure emotion and excitement every second from beginning to end.

Emotional Rollercoaster

Warning: Spoilers
There were things in this episode that made me furious, others sad, others nervous for what's to come. And that's actually a really good thing.

Just like I'm still side eyeing Geri for breaking Hoyt's heart (assume we'll figure that out next episode), I'm now glaring at Stella.

The others went along with the "intervention" of Cordell, but she pushed it and I'm tired of this little girl having literally caused the situation they're in & then seeming to play victim, at least in her own mind.

She's in grief, but not fessing up to framing her father for so much blame?

Punitive. Petty. WAY over the line.

Now we know why Walker left. His own mind (via Emily's ghost) was telling him he's a failure, a danger, a coward.

He didn't abandon his family as much as go away to protect them by making "Cordell" disappear.

(And from an earlier ep, we know LIAM asks him to stay & get the Rodeo Kings to do that one last heist, so blameless there, too, for any claims of entrapment.)

Poor Liam, though.

Also sad fall out from Stella's stunt: we see more about Liam & Bret.

We see him happy and successful and putting it all away for duty.

We also see the result, though I'm assuming that's not the end of things for Liam (at all.)

Great to see a representative LGBTQIA character who's part of the fabric of the story & a main character from the start. Not a sermon. A human. REAL.

I'm expecting this to continue.

I'm hoping Bonham isn't so "old school" that he isn't seeking treatment.

If he is as part we haven't seen, I'm impressed with how that folds into the Bonham-Abeline love story without inspiration porn.

I think the writers will probably redeem the boyfriend. (sighs) But either way, that story will continue and the young man playing it held up his role last night.

They all did.

Acting was spot on. Pacing was fast. Camera work good. Plot believable.

Enjoyed getting more to the story, especially finding out Cordell is a good, protective man above all.

Because we went in a full circle...
jdow-7470927 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
...and nothing really happened. I'm fine with the flashback. It just didn't tell us anything. Its ep11 of 18. And we know nothing. Nothing about Emily's adventures at the border, the new investigation into Emily's killer, how Cordi got into the undercover job, why they would let an obviously depressed and mourning man do undercover work. I am not a fan of the writing. I am pleased with the acting based on said writing. Nothing seems connected, fluid. It better be one heck of a season finale to get me to watch season 2.

Working hard
dolphiea21 May 2021
Nice getting the back story on what happened in episode one and beyond. Interlude- the side story (middle age intrigue) the Abilene and Bonham inquietude. Don't try to put everything in a tidied up box. Tread carefully writers.

By far the best episode
chiisaikoto28 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Now it makes all pieces together what happened in the past! It's getting interesting. Want to know what clint wants for revenge.

That scene where Walker talks with the hallucination of Emily especially nailed it! Their acting choices, the background, their sentiments, the lines all perfectly made sense, A+ material.

Avidviewer-0284723 May 2021
I know it's sweeps month and cliffhangers are standard, but this episode was really boring. I hate flashbacks unless absolutely necessary and they weren't necessary, I really didn't need to know all the details of past events, it's lazy writing obsessing with the past. I still like the characters and hopefully it will improve next week.

Brett has been conspicuously absent, did they split permanently? Maybe a gay couple wasn't popular.
