This movie definitely kept our interest all the way through. Twice we have happened upon it on TV while flipping through the channels and, both times, IT GRABBED US with its RANDOM and quirky, droll humor. (We are ages 14 to 60.) The expressions on people's faces alone were sometimes enough to make us laugh out loud.
Never was this movie predictable. On top of being funny, occasionally it had some good, thought-provoking messages, as the people in it were encountering some of the many trials common to mankind. The oldest of 4 siblings (whose parents died 12 years ago) is trying to deal with some stressful family situations in a very loving and fair way. He is raising Bobby who is the youngest.
We would like to see more movies like this one ~ a family drama that's silly, fun, AND meaningful as well. Good combo. We always appreciate a movie we can watch as a family and nobody ends up having to sit through embarrassing sex scenes or listen to needless profanity.
"Bringing Up Bobby" leaves you wondering what happened to its cast of characters after it ended. A sequel, or something else by the same people who made this funky little flick might be nice, because they obviously have an off the wall sense of humor.
Check it out. Even if you are not interested in its Christian message parts, you very likely will still get caught up in its somewhat unusual plot and characters, wanting to see what happens to this group of siblings who reunite for the reading of their dead parents' will.
