"I helped!"
We received our first memorable line in this 3rd episode. I don't wanna spoil it for you, but "I helped!" was the perfect line of dialogue at the perfect time. I just finished Episode 3, "I Like To Be Hugged", and I am 100% invested now. This, so far, has been the best one - they are getting better as they progress. When I see good ratings for a TV show based off of a popular movie, or chain of movies, I usually think it is due to sentimental value. Not so the case here. These high ratings are deserved and well warranted.
In this episode, Junior confronts Lexy and tells her that she should apologize to Jake for what she did at the costume party, because it was also his Uncle she made fun of in such a morbid way. She only does so, because her little sister is crying to have Chucky. She apologizes, but then asks Jake if he'd give Chucky to her so her little sister will be happy again. Afraid to try and kill Lexy himself, Jake eventually agrees knowing that while Chucky is in the house, he will do his dirty work for him - leading us to an explosive ending.
This was a lot of fun. I especially enjoyed how the story of young Charles Lee Ray was interwoven into the story in a series of pertinent flashbacks when Jakes asks him what made him into a killer. The visuals in this episode were stellar, especially with the use of fire. More bodies are piling up, and other victims are waiting their turn. Who will be next?
I highly recommend this episode at a very strong 8 stars out of 10. Pairing Chucky up with the little girl, Caroline, brought back flashes from the original "Child's Play" movie when he was with Andy Barclay. The story continues in the next episode and I can't wait to see what is waiting for me!
