I was absolutely, positively, totally blown away by this new animated short by Ryan Cannon. I've never met this person and don't know him personally. But his team and he have created something that not only has a very important and pertinent message, but that -- unlike far too many similar projects (short or feature) these days -- doesn't pander to its audience by merely depending on the message itself for value.
Cannon and Co. Clearly spent a great deal of time, energy, resources and creative ingenuity power on manifesting something that is not only socially conscious but also stunning to look at, engaging, compelling, beautiful and emotionally resonant in a brutally authentic way. It is truly an aesthetic triumph, and that's something far too many people in Hollywood these days are leaving out of the equation when creating such shorts, features, and TV.
I very much hope to see more from Ryan Cannon and his team, and very much hope that he's able to make more, larger projects for larger audiences in the future as well.
