Sex & Nudity

  • Several men are shown mostly disrobed or nude in a sauna, but no intimate parts are visible.
  • A man and woman drunkenly walk into a hotel room. They kiss and begin to disrobe. The woman appears in lingerie but the scene fades out.
  • A mention of prostitutes.
  • A man is shown thrusting into a woman from the upper half of his backside with his butt barely visible. Female breasts are shown briefly during this same scene.
  • A woman is shown dead covered in blood with her breasts visible. Only a few seconds.
  • No sex, man's butt is seen for a few seconds in a non sexual way

Violence & Gore

  • In slow motion, a group of men are mowed down with machine guns. An extremely bloody scene, with blood flying everywhere.
  • A man has a noose tied around his neck and tied to a post. He is put in a car and is driven away speedily. When the rope gets too short, his neck breaks messily. Believe it or not, this is one of the less graphic scenes.
  • A man is graphically sliced in the face twice with a razor. Blood is shown pouring out. He later is shown with long scars.
  • Several men are shot in a bath house. The shots are usually directed at the head. We see blood and brain matter splatter everywhere.
  • A woman is shown dead covered in blood.
  • A man has a chopstick shoved in his ear. Very graphic and disturbing.
  • A man has a dentist's drill shoved in his mouth. We see this onscreen for about 15 seconds straight with no cutaways. He screams and coughs up a lot of blood. The most gruesome scene of the film
  • A man slowly cuts off his own finger. Seen in a graphic close-up, with blood pouring.
  • A man is punched in the chin, causing him to graphically bite his own tongue off. He is then shot dead offscreen.
  • Several other less memorable scenes of violence.
  • IMDb has a typo. The actual rating, straight from the MPAA, is rated R for Strong Brutal Bloody Violence Throughout, Language and brief sexuality

Profanity

  • The swearing is said in Japanese, but they are visible in English subtitles.
  • Frequent swearing, including fuck, shit, asshole, damn, bitch and more.
  • Around 30 uses of the f word.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A few scenes take place in bars where people are drinking.
  • Many people smoke cigarettes casually throughout.
  • A few mentions of drug trafficking and dealing.
  • A few instances of people acting drunk.
  • People drink alcohol with their meals in a few scenes.
  • A woman seen from a distance is said to be buying drugs.
  • Some brief drinking and smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The many instances of violence and killing throughout may be difficult for some viewers.
  • Several tense interactions between rival gang members, where certain individuals are in danger.
  • Several instances of betrayal.
  • The fact that most of the characters are criminals, and commit criminal acts throughout, may be frightening to some viewers.
  • A few very disturbing scenes of violence.
