The Rolling Stones’ No Filter tour continues.
Announced in 2017, the legendary rock band is preparing to return to the stages after taking a break for over two years. The last tour date they performed was November 23, 2021, in Hollywood, Florida.
The tour has faced quite a bit of setbacks. In March 2019, frontman Mick Jagger had to undergo a heart operation, postponing that year’s North American leg of the tour. Then in 2020, much like the rest of the world, the Covid-19 pandemic forced another North American leg postponement. The following year, drummer Charlie Watts had to sit out the rest of 2021 tour dates due to a reported heart surgery. Watts died that year on August 24.
The English rock band hasn’t been on tour since 2021. The upcoming tour in April will be the first tour since Watts’ death.
The No Filter tour will include stops in cities like Seattle, Denver and Los Angeles.

Sum 41 have officially announced their final album, Heaven :x: Hell. The double LP is set to drop on March 29th, and the video for the new single “Rise Up” can be streamed now.
The raucous track sees the pop-punk vets in prime form, as frontman Deryck Whibley dishes out nasally vocal hooks to the song’s pogo-ready rhythm. While Sum 41 have declared the upcoming double album their last, “Rise Up” doesn’t sound like a band running out of steam. Instead, they’re going out on top.
News of the album follows Sum 41’s retirement announcement earlier this year. For Whibley, the 20-track Heaven :x: Hell — which pairs a pop-punk “Heaven” disc with the more heavy metal “Hell” flip-side — felt like a proper conclusion.
“Once I heard the music, I was confident enough to say, ‘This is the record I’d like to go out on,’” Whibley said via a press release.

The Rolling Stones have been pretty busy this year.
In October, they released their newest studio album, Hackney Diamonds, and now they’ve announced a new tour.
The tour will have Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ron Woods travel to 16 cities in both the U.S. and Canada. It’s scheduled to kick off in Houston on April 28 next year and is set to end in Santa Clara, California, in July.
This will be the first concert tour since the death of drummer Charlie Watts.
“Ever since Charlie’s gone it’s different, he’s number four,” Richards told Jimmy Fallon last month.”He’s missing, he’s up there. Of course he’s missed incredibly.”
Last month, they performed in a New York club with Lady Gaga and sang a mix of their new songs with their older classics.

Ask Bill Wyman what people should expect from The Stones and Brian Jones, documentarian Nick Broomfield’s new film about the late, doomed founder of the band, and he’s pretty straightforward about it: “The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but!”
That may be a slight exaggeration, but there’s no denying that the documentary, for which the former Rolling Stones bass player was a “historical consultant,” delves into the highs (laterally and figuratively) and lows of the man who started the Stones but never lived past the Sixties.

In the weeks before the release of The Stones and Brian Jones, Nick Broomfield’s documentary about the first casualty of the Rolling Stones’ rise to prominence, the band released its 24th (in the UK; 26th in the US) studio album. And as part of the release of Hackney Diamonds, the band’s first studio release in seven years, the Stones’ PR machine went into overdrive. Mick Jagger and Keith Richard made the rounds and, among other topics, often touched on the death of longtime drummer Charlie Watts and its impact on the band. These interviews have tended to be fascinating affairs; such is the state of things when members of rock royalty hit the promotion trail.
One name that was barely mentioned is Brian Jones. That is not altogether surprising; even though Jones was the band’s founder and its first leader, he died more than 50 years ago. But...

Duran Duran are getting into the Halloween spirit with Danse Macabre, a witchy new album featuring a mix of new songs and covers of classics by Billie Eilish, Talking Heads, and more. Check it out below via Apple Music or Spotify.
The new wave legends’ 16th studio album was inspired by a “crazy” Halloween show Duran Duran put on last year. Rather than going full “Bela Lugosi’s Dead,” however, Danse Macabre doesn’t take itself too seriously. “It’s supposed to be fun!” singer Simon Le Bon explained in a statement.
That said, original compositions like its title track — which we named Song of the Week — coexist alongside covers of Billie Eilish’s “Bury a Friend,” Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer,” and The Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black.” The project also features some special guests, including former guitarist Andy Taylor and legendary artist Nile Rodgers on the song “Black Moonlight.

The music industry’s biggest artists can earn a good chunk of change these days by selling the rights to their musical catalogs, but Mick Jagger isn’t so sure that The Rolling Stones will be the next band to cash out. In fact, they might donate the money from their extensive discography to charity instead.
The Rolling Stones are as much of a brand as a rock ‘n’ roll band, and fans know Jagger has maintained a strong hand in the group’s business dealings. Take his interview with The Wall Street Journal Magazine — where he discussed selling the copyrights to the band’s music — as proof. Still, he scoffed at the idea of a sale, quipping, “the children don’t need $500 million to live well. Come on.” Approving the suggestion that the money could go to charity instead of his estate, Jagger added, “You maybe do some good in the world.

Duran Duran have shared their funky new song “Black Moonlight,” one of the band’s three originals from their upcoming Halloween-inspired, largely covers album Danse Macabre.
For the track, Duran Duran reunited with longtime collaborator Nile Rodgers, who previously produced the band’s 1986 LP Notorious, in addition to other contributions throughout the decades.
“‘Black Moonlight’ is this classic Duran Duran-Nile Rodgers collaboration,” Simon Le Bon said in a statement. “When Nile started playing his guitar in the studio, he really inspired everyone with his riff, and the song just kind of wrote itself.

In the first episode of “Wednesday,” Jenna Ortega’s title character plays a cello cover of The Rolling Stones’ goth anthem “Paint It Black.” Pulling off such a scene required licensing the song, orchestrating a new arrangement of it, and teaching Ortega how to play it — all while the traditional scoring process was taking place. It’s a fusion of old and new that helped make the show a cultural phenomenon when it debuted on Netflix in November 2022. And while the production team might have made it look easy, it required intense coordination between multiple departments.

In 1963, both The Beatles and The Rolling Stones released versions of the song “I Wanna Be Your Man,” and Keith Richards shared his thoughts on them. The song, which John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote, was one of the Stones’ early hits. When looking back on the versions that both bands released, Richards said theirs was better.

Mick Jagger became a household name with The Rolling Stones in the mid-1960s. He’s remained the epitome of frontman cool ever since. Jagger’s biggest hit song in the 21st century was a song he basically gave away to Matchbox Twenty. The tune didn’t resonate the same way as some of the Stones’ songs that weren’t quite No. 1 hits, but it put him back on the charts.

In their latest edition of “First Drafts of Rock,” Kevin Bacon and Jimmy Fallon have taken on the Rolling Stones’ 1966 hit “Paint It, Black.” In the clip, filmed for The Tonight Show, Bacon embodies Mick Jagger while Fallon becomes Keith Richards.
In their “first draft” of the rock song, the pair croon, “I go to Michaels/ And I ask, ‘Where is the paint?’/ They tell me, ‘Aisle 6’/ That’s where they keep the paint.” Later, the lyrics get even more meta: “I see a can of paint/I want to paint the paint.

During the 1960s, American music was taken over by artists from the U.K. This era became known as the British Invasion, with U.K. pop and rock artists dominating the American charts. Many of these artists came and went, but others were wildly successful and remain in the pop culture zeitgeist today.
Here are the 5 best rock bands during the British Invasion 1. The Yardbirds The Yardbirds | Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images
The Yardbirds are arguably more famous for who was in the band than their music. The band started with Eric Clapton as its lead guitarist. Once Clapton departed, the band was joined by Jeff Beck and future Led Zeppelin member Jimmy Page. The Yardbirds had three legendary guitarists on their roster, and their songs always had impeccable instrumentals.

The Beatles‘ Rubber Soul is one of the most beloved classic rock albums of all time. It’s often considered the band’s most extensive foray into folk-rock music. Despite this, some of the great songs on the album aren’t folk songs.
The Beatles | Icon and Image / Contributor 5. ‘The Word’
The Beatles gave us a lot of songs about love, including “All You Need Is Love,” “Love Me Do,” “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “Love You To,” And I Love Her,” “Real Love,” “She Loves You,” and “All My Loving,” just to name a few. “The Word” is another meditation on the subject, but it stands out because of those chic 1960s guitars. Here, The Beatles prove they were just as good at harmonizing as The Beach Boys when they wanted to be. If only this track was a single from The Beatles’ Rubber Soul!

The Rolling Stones remain one of the most legendary classic rock bands. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood keep going long after fellow 1960s bands such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd called it a day. They made several No. 1 hits, but four Rolling Stones albums peaked at No. 2 in the United States.

Before covering the Stones’ albums that peaked at No. 2, we need to acknowledge their slew of hit records. They sent nine albums to the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart in their career.
It’s more than just an impressive number. The Rolling Stones had chart-topping albums across three decades. Sixteen years separated their first Billboard No. 1 (1965’s Out of Our Heads) with their most recent (1981’s Tattoo You).

The Rolling Stones have penned several notable songs in their career. “Street Fighting Man” is one of them. Yet the two most notable Stones have differing opinions. Guitarist Keith Richards called it drummer Charlie Watts’ most important record, while singer Mick Jagger doesn’t like the song much in his older age. We’re going to have to side with Keith on this one, even though he’s wrong — “Street Fighting Man” was important for all of The Rolling Stones.

The Rolling Stones‘ songs sometimes sounded like The Beatles’ songs. John Lennon once called a Rolling Stones song a Beatles rip-off. On the other hand, Keith Richards and Mick Jagger didn’t give much of an answer when someone asked if the Fab Four influenced one of their albums.

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, it’s hard to argue The Rolling Stones aren’t one of the most popular bands ever. Paul McCartney claimed George Harrison got the Stones their recording contract, but whether or not that’s true doesn’t matter. They made the most of their opportunity and created several seminal albums along the way. They also found success on the Billboard singles chart. Eight Rolling Stones songs reached No. 1, but some ranked higher than others.
Note: We ranked The Rolling Stones’ eight No. 1 hits based on weeks atop the Billboard singles chart and total weeks on the chart. The only place we had to make an editorial decision was at the No. 4 spot.

One of The Rolling Stones’ most heartfelt ballads was also one of their chart-topping hits.

There are classic rock songs about every topic under the sun. For example, some great classic rock songs deal with getting older. Notably, Paul McCartney once produced such a song for another singer.
The Beatles’ ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ | Science & Society Picture Library / Contributor 5. The Beatles’ ‘When I’m Sixty-Four’
Getting older can be difficult, but The Beatles’ “When I’m Sixty-Four” makes it seem fun. Paul had a thing for vaudeville music, and this is probably his best stab at the genre. It’s not one of the more experimental classic rock songs on Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, but it’s still a lot of fun.
Paul turned 64 in 2006. During that year, he told the Los Angeles Times he had a regret about the song: it should’ve been “When I’m Ninety-Four.” He said some listeners don’t even think “When I’m Sixty-Four” is about old age.

Netflix's "Wednesday" took Netflix, TikTok, and the world by storm when it debuted last fall. The show earned fans for its goth teen aesthetic, an infectious dance scene, and an all-star performance by "Scream" and "X" actor Jenna Ortega. As Wednesday, Ortega was by far the best part of the series, and she made embodying the scowling, mystery-solving teen look effortless. But according to the actress herself, portraying the classic character was actually anything but simple.
At a Netflix Q&a event covered by Variety this week, Ortega opened up about the stressful preparation and shooting conditions for "Wednesday," which make the show sound like a lot more work than one might expect from a typical full-time job. Wednesday Addams is a prodigy-like jack-of-all-trades, and Ortega attempted to bring as much realism to the role as she could by practicing an array of activities that include playing the cello,...

The news about Charlie Watts, who died yesterday at 80, deeply impacted the Rolling Stones drummer’s colleagues and peers — but also subsequent generations of rockers. Like the Stones, the Black Keys cut their teeth on blues songs and went on to write their own material, songs that never lost sight of their gritty origins.
For the last show of their 50th-anniversary tour, at Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center in December 2012, the Stones invited the Black Keys to join them onstage. (Other guests: Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga, and John Mayer.

Charlie Watts’ drums were the foundation of The Rolling Stones. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards wrote the songs, got the most press, and were the most visible members, but Watts dictated the style. Besides being named to Vanity Fair’s “Style” Hall of Fame, Watts kept the Stones’ sound intact and impeccable, regardless of whatever the songwriters brought into the studio.
There is an incident recounted in the 2010 memoir Life, by Richards and James Fox, about a mid-1980s party which hits the nail on the head. Mick drunk-dialed Charlie’s hotel room in the middle of the night to invite him to a party which was raging. Jagger demanded to know “Where’s my drummer?” Watts showed up. It appears that Activision may be teasing Call of Duty 2020 via a mysterious new listing on the Microsoft Store for a game known as The Red Door.
As noted by PC Gamer, a listing for a previously unconfirmed Activision game known only as The Red Door has been posted to the Microsoft Store very recently. The description for the game reads: “There is more than one truth. If you go looking for answers, be ready to question everything and accept that nothing will ever be the same. The Red Door awaits, do you dare step through it?” It’s described as a shooter with a Mature rating and an install size of 81.65 Gb. Beyond that, the listing doesn’t include any more substantial information about the game.
When you think about it, that’s kind of odd. After all, Activision is one of the largest video game publishers in the world,...

Myriad Pictures has acquired worldwide rights to the Alicia Witt romantic comedy “Modern Persuasion,” which will premiere at the Cannes Virtual Market.
The film, an adaptation of Jane Austen’s 1817 novel “Persuasion,” is directed by Alex Appel and Jonathan Lisecki from a script by Lisecki and Barbara Radecki. The film also stars Liza Lapira, Daniela Pineda, Shane McRae and Bebe Neuwirth.
“Modern Persuasion” centers on Witt’s character, a happily single and self-confessed workaholic who, after steadfastly rising to the top of the ladder in the New York corporate publicity world, finds herself coming home every night to her cat. When her firm is hired by a previous love, long-lost feelings are stirred.

Westworld season 3 has come a long way from the player piano at the Mariposa Saloon.
The first season of HBO’s sci-fi series featured haunting Western piano covers of modern hits like Radiohead’s “No Surprises,” Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun,” and the Rolling Stones’ “Paint it Black.” Then in Westworld Season 2, the show brought more of the same energetic saloon piano with Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box” and Wu-Tang Clan’s “C.R.E.A.M.” joining the fray.
Now Westworld season 3 has entered the real world and left the piano covers behind in favor of the real thing. While the energetic first trailer did feature a “Sweet Child O’ Mine” piano cover, Westworld season 3 episode 1 opted for the full versions of several very good, very appropriate songs. Death Grip’s “Bubbles Buried in This Jungle” and Pulp’s “Common People” are the highlights – effectively scoring two very different scenes in “Parce Domine.
