OUTLANDER IS NOT DISNEY! Those that have issues with this show need to take it up with the author. Like the Harry Potter series, it gets darker not only because that is what is happening in the world around the Frasers, but because they are dealing with mounting personal troubles as well. That makes for excellent story.
And what a story! This episode covers a lot of ground. As the series races towards next week's finale we see the balance of power shift unjustly from the Frasers to the self-righteous residents of the Ridge. Makes you want to yell at the screen.
The acting is superb from all members of the cast, but especially from Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe who always cast their spell. In one scene in particular they play off each other with such creative synergy they explode off the screen and into your heart. It's hard to believe they are acting. You totally believe they are a married couple of long standing that have weathered tremendous vicissitudes, with their transcendent love in tact.
This unique chemistry is still the best I've ever seen.
The story is enthralling! Heartrending. It even has some lighthearted moments. It is everything you could want in a penultimate episode.
