It is true that when you start portraying one character so perfectly in the film industry for an extended period of time, they start getting recognition and become synonymous with it. Such was the case with Elizabeth Olsen, who rose to international stardom with her portrayal of Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Well, if one gets an opportunity to work with one of the most successful superhero franchises in the world, they would definitely take it, as it’ll put them on the list of the top stars in the industry.

However, the Kill Your Darlings actress had grown bored of her superhero role and wanted to step back because she felt it killed the acting range and limited her opportunities as an artist. Now, her dream has come true as Olsen is going to...

Wynonna Judd is officially back on the road after launching her Back to Wy Tour!
The legendary country singer is showcasing her debut and sophomore solo albums, Wynonna and Tell Me Why, during the shows. She’s performing each album from front to back, in order, with a sentimental acoustic section between the two sets.
“Getting to share this tour with the fans who have been with me for 40 years, means the world to me. Deep diving into my first two solo albums, Wynonna and Tell Me Why, track by track, will be a trip down memory lane. As I sit and listen to these two records, I’m flooded with the memories that surrounded that time in my life. The fans held me up and supported me through that season of change in 1992, and I now see ‘herstory’ repeating itself. This music healed me then and is healing me now.

Wynonna Judd received the Country Champion Award at the 2023 People’s Choice Country Awards. Brothers Osborne presented Wynonna with the award, which recognized her “commitment to philanthropy and social advocacy.” And then she performed “I Saw the Light” and “No One Else on Earth” while standing in the circle of the Grand Ole Opry House stage. In black lace gloves and her signature fiery red hair, Wynonna bellowed and swaggered, dropping an ad lib or two — “I’m still here,” for instance in “I Saw the Light” — into her performance.

One could make -- and no doubt some resourceful Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have made -- a video about Loki (Tom Hiddleston) hooking up with different characters in the MCU using footage from Hiddleston's non-Marvel projects. The actor had a tragic affair with Rachel Weisz (Melina Vostokoff in "Black Widow") in "The Deep Blue Sea," played one-half of a pair of vampiric lovers along with Tilda Swinton (the McU's Ancient One) in "Only Lovers Left Alive," and starred as Hank Williams in "I Saw the Light," with the Scarlet Witch herself, Elizabeth Olsen, playing the late country music legend's wife. Hiddleston even had a fling with Elizabeth Debicki (Ayesha in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" films) in "The Night Manager," in addition to a non-zero amount of sexual tension with "Captain Marvel" actor Brie Larson in "Kong: Skull Island."

“Daisy Jones & the Six” has arrived. Fans of the bestselling Taylor Jenkins Reid novel of the same name have been anxiously awaiting Amazon Prime Video’s TV series adaptation of the book, and the story of this fictional 1970s rock band is unfolding over a number of weeks on the streaming service.
The story is one told in a grand flashback, as members of the titular band sit down for a documentary about their rise (and fall?) and the show then presents the story as it happened back in the ’70s. The book is a full-on oral history, but in the TV series, what we see is what actually happened – not peoples’ own versions of events – so we witness how Sam Claflin’s rocker Billy Dunne reluctantly allows aspiring songwriter and performer Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) to work on one of The Six’s songs. The resulting smash hit...

After months of anticipation, Daisy Jones & The Six has debuted on Amazon Prime Video. Based on the bestselling book by Taylor Jenkins Reid, the series aired its first three episodes. However, viewers didn’t know that star Riley Keough‘s husband, Ben Smith-Peterson, also appeared in the series via a sex scene his wife called “awkward.”
Riley Keough | Lloyd Bishop/NBC What is ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ about?
The 2019 book Daisy Jones & The Six chronicles the rise and fall of a 1970s fictional band. A hard-luck music producer brought together ingénue Daisy Jones and The Six, a rock band led by heartthrob Billy Dunne. The Prime Video limited series keeps close to the book’s details as possible.
Billy and Daisy’s partnership catapults the Six from obscurity to fame. However, the band suddenly calls it quits after a sold-out show at Chicago’s Soldier Field.

“Aurora,” the once fictional album imagined by Taylor Jenkins Reid in her best-selling novel “Daisy Jones & the Six” has come to life with 11 of the 25 original songs written for Prime Video’s TV show adaptation. Blake Mills and Tony Berg reimagined songs Reid listed in the back of her book for “Aurora,” enlisting collaborators like Marcus Mumford, Phoebe Bridgers and more to write and record the album.
But in addition to the original Daisy Jones & the Six songs, classic 70s rock and roll hits like Carole King’s “I Feel the Earth Move” and The Byrds’ “Goin’ Back” set the scene for the collision of Daisy Jones and rock band The Six, who rocket to fame together, echoing the dynamic of Fleetwood Mac, Civil Wars and The Eagles to name a few.

The new short from director Joe Badon, The Blood of the Dinosaurs, took me about eighteen minutes to watch. It may take a lifetime to figure out just what I watched.
Beginning with a recreation of the end of the Age of Reptiles staged with plastic dinosaurs, fireworks and exceptionally primitive animation, Badon and co-writer Jason Kruppa have put created a film that has only the most minimal framework of a plot. And that is used more to hang collages of bizarre footage and imagery on rather than tell a narrative story.
What narrative we do get is framed a the Christmas edition of “The Uncle Bobbo Show”, a children’s show airing on public access TV. Uncle Bobbo gives off the vibes of Dexter with severe brain damage.

Start a conversation with Todd Rundgren about his sudden wealth of needle drops within the last 10 months — including the multiple interpretations of his 1973 hit “Hello It’s Me” as performed throughout the first season of HBO Max’s “And Just Like That…,” or the use of “I Saw the Light” in “Ozark” — and before the question is out, Rundgren is laughing.
“I find it as unusual as everyone else does,” says Rundgren from Denver, before another night of playing with friend Daryl Hall during that latter’s current solo tour. “I can’t figure out what’s going on, as to why there’s sudden interest in my music, and that era in particular.”

Anastasia Brown, a veteran music supervisor who has long been a key figure in connecting Nashville with Hollywood, has been appointed chief content strategist of Visionary Media Group. She’ll direct content across platforms for the company’s music, TV, film and scoring projects.
The move comes at a time when Nashville is making good on its longtime promise as a major hub for film and television music, as full-scale scoring stages open up to rival the spaces in Los Angeles — on top of the traditional studios that have always been plentiful in Music City — and even gaming projects look to Nashville for their soundtracks.
“Creatives move to Nashville because of our sense of community, level of talent and respect for their talents,” Brown tells Variety. “A multi-media company will financially benefit content creators, which will then allow them to thrive here for years to come. I have always cared...

Todd Rundgren and an all-star crew are re-recording his 1973 anthem “Just One Victory” and giving it away for free to Democrats all over America running for public office this year. It’s still early in the process, but Joe Walsh, Daryl Hall, and Paul Shaffer have already pledged to join the effort along with producer Don Was.
“Everyone is trying to figure out what they can do to get that maniac out of the White House,” Rundgren says on the phone from his house on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.

The original “Aladdin” (1992) brought Alan Menken two of his eight Oscars — for Best Original Score and Best Original Song for “A Whole New World”) — and now the 2019 version can help him break some longstanding records.
Menken, who returned to compose new music for the live-action remake, could add a ninth Oscar to his collection for the new Jasmine anthem “Speechless,” which he co-wrote with fellow Oscar winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. That would give him the solo record for the most victories for Best Original Song at five, tie him for the most Oscars in the music categories, and extend his own record for the most Oscars won by a living person.

Getting 37,000 people to a remote, rural amphitheater in East Troy, Wisconsin, for Farm Aid isn’t hard when the bill features Neil Young, Willie Nelson, Luke Combs, Bonnie Raitt, John Mellencamp, and several other big names. Getting them to stay for 12 hours in a downpour that turned the packed lawn (where the vast majority of people sat) into a sea of mud is much harder. It required a pretty spectacular show, one that left people so stunned they stayed put hour after hour even though most of them couldn’t...

It’s been a long while since a male solo artist has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And according to results from our recent poll, the one you most want for induction in 2020 is the late Warren Zevon. He narrowly defeated such rock heavyweights as George Michael, Phil Collins and Todd Rundgren in our poll.
Shockingly, no male solo artists were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the past two years. This astounding fact follows several years of voters catching up on such artists as Neil Diamond (2011), Donovan (2012), Peter Gabriel (2014), Randy Newman (2013), Lou Reed (2015), Steve Miller (2016), Cat Stevens (2014) and Bill Withers (2015).
We also recently offered very popular polls about which rock group you wanted next (won by The Doobie Brothers) and which female artist you would choose.

James Wan will direct New Line horror movie Malignant before returning to helm Aquaman 2.
James Wan is at an interesting place in his career. While he proved his action movie bonafides several years ago with the stressful production of Furious 7, it was last year that he managed to successfully launch a new superhero franchise with a wild premise and little in the way of a popular shared universe to fall back on. Nevertheless, Aquaman was gonzo, bubblegum fun that grossed about $1.2 billion at the box office. So, in theory, he could do anything he’d want next. Which makes news that he’s returning to horror so intriguing.
Malignant is the official title of Wan's hush-hush horror film, which will star Annabelle Wallis and George Young. The initial announcement of the project revealed that Wan was locked in to direct a...

Maddie Hasson was drawn to “Impulse” because she found the protagonist, Henrietta “Henry” Coles, to be “really interesting, especially for a young female character.” Based on the book series by Steven Gould, the YouTube Originals series centers on a teenager who discovers she possesses powers of teleportation following a sexual assault. A version of this story was previously filmed by Doug Liman as the 2007 film “Jumper.” The filmmaker then brought the show to the streaming network and directed the pilot episode. Watch our exclusive video interview with Hasson above.
See Lauren LeFranc interview: ‘Impulse’ showrunner
The actress describes Henry as “a very lonely person. She’s always on her own. I liked her because she’s like a raw nerve. She’s very angry, real and harsh. I liked seeing that in a young female character because I think so often young adult TV shows can get caught up … in being likable.

Todd Rundgren had a loving history with the band that taught him almost everything he knew about music.
Rock Hall of Fame Class of 2019 nominee Todd Rundgren is a musicians' musician who consistently puts art in front of fame. A True Star, which is also the title of his 1973 album, he broke onto the scene with two romantic pop classics, "Hello, It's Me" and "I Saw the Light" off his third album Something/Anything?; explored the intricate maneuverings of prog rock with his band Utopia, and scored one of his most and least recognizable songs just banging on a drum all day. Rundgren never shied from referencing his musical influences, or ripping down his own idols. Ten years after The Beatles proclaimed "All You Need Is Love," Rundgren confirmed the message when Utopia's Oops! Wrong Planet closed with "Love Is the Answer." But not all Todd's encounters with the Beatles were loving.

Fall is the season of Real-People movies — the biopics that often fuel Oscar hopes. Recent weeks brought “The Battle of the Sexes,” “Stronger,” and “Victoria & Abdul” and there’s more than a dozen to come, including “Marshall,” “The Post,” “Darkest Hour,” and “The Current War.” There’s good reason to believe that a biopic might produce awards. In the last five years, 28 of the 100 Oscar acting nominees played real-life characters, as did four of the 20 winners. But when it comes to the box office, the odds aren’t as kind.
