Recessionas are inevitable. But their timing is unpredictable. Arvin offers six tips to help you survive a recession. And there is a fair chance you may lose your job during a recession just when it's hardest to find a new job, So half his tips involve preparing for a potential job loss.

Arvin borrows NASA's ISX Enterprise space ship to visit a large black hole. He then persuades one of his adventurous crew members, Adam, to hop in. Arvin describes what the rest of the crew sees happen to Adam and why. Then he describes Adam's experiences and why he sees what he does. Adma's survival depends on which theory of gravitation you choose to believe.

After a brief introduction to magnetism and electricity Arvin shows how to calculate the speed of light using Maxwell's equations. He also shares why Maxwell modified the equations developed for electricity and magnetism by Gauss, Ampere and Faraday and how he came to the revelation that light is an electromagnetic wave.

Creating a theory that unites the weak nuclear force and electromagnetism was the first step toward uniting all four forces of our universe. But in our everyday world these two forces appear very different. So it was a great intellectual leap involving the work of several physicists. It also required the existence of the now world famous Higgs boson.

The speed of light is determined by the vacuum permeability and the vacuum permittivity which is a measure of the resistance of space to the flow of light. It is the finite speed of light that determines causality. Now, just for fun, Arvin considers what the universe would be like if the speed of light was infinite.

In a superconductor electrons are thought to pair up into "Cooper Pairs" that behave like bosons whereas single electrons are fermions. These boson-like pairs are in their lowest energy state, known as a Bose-Einstein condensate, so they are not scattered by the protons in the superconductor and can move with no resistance.

The sun derives it's energy form the fusion of hydrogen into helium but, as Arvin explains, it doesn't occur in just one step. Fusion is only successful because the helium nucleus is more stable than the a single proton, the hydrogen nucleus. To understand why Arvin looks deep into the helium nucleus to see how the quarks that make up the protons and neutrons behave.

In a recent paper scientists speculated that dark matter may collide with matter in super-Jupiter exoplanets often enough to substantially warm them. This effect would be most pronounced toward the center of the Milky Way where dark matter tends to be more concentrated. The ideal tool to detect these effects is scheduled to launch in 2021, the James Webb Telescope.

Arvin explains a diagram created by Chis Quigg that Arvin feels represents the Standard Model of Partilc Physics better than the traditional chart of the particles. Quigg's diagram include the full collection of particles, many of which are missing in the standard chart, and also includes the behaviors that set the particles apart.

In examining the nature of time Arvin explores why time always moves forward when quantum processes seem to be ambivalent to time and can go in either direction. He offers the observation that events that are probabilities in the future become certainties in the past (creating information) which implies that time is unidirectional.
