Sam (Jet Jandreau) is a professional realty agent working under Brenda (Rebecca De Mornay). Her home life is a drunken mess with a drunken loser husband. Out of blue, Peter (Kevin Spacey) starts investigating and interfering in her life. She has a dark secret past with Lock (Jake Weber).

This is strictly a B-movie with pretentions of being a noir story. The dialogue has some clunky lines. The concept is fine but nothing too special. The filmmaking is not that good. This does have three veteran actors, but the rest are poor. I don't know anything about Jet. She's not good. Some of the minor actors are much worst. As for Spacey, he's trying to add some comedic touches and they don't always fit. I can't say that I love seeing him anyways. It all adds up to a weird B-movie viewing experience.

Excellent Direction and Cinematography

Definitely not your usual movie fare and that's refreshing. I throughally enjoyed this film and I really did not expect to. I came biased because I live in the beautiful location and worked as a background local in the film, but ended up immersed in the story, laughing and struck by the beauty of the scenes. Love the old fashioned movie magic and will be a lifelong fan of Michael Zaiko Hall. This definitely brings back the art of film making in a time saturated with the same old uninspired story lines, CGI, and formulaic dialogue. It's rare that I don't feel like I already know how a story will end and I appreciate the suspense. At moments I felt like I was in a Vertigo (film) type of trance.

We need more of this! Bravo!

Great Comeback of Mr.Spacey

Kevin Spacey gives a charismatic performance that brims with panache and great comedic timing. Occasionally, he almost veers toward campiness. He's clearly having a lot of fun in his role. He truly invigorates the film, so it's worth seeing for his performance alone. Rebecca De Mornay has a few scenes where she gets to shine, especially toward the end. There's violence, but no gore and very little blood. The blood even looks a little stylized, so it's not disturbing or shocking like in Love Lies Bleeding. At a running time of 1 hour and 41 minutes, Peter Five Eight is a wildly entertaining, gripping and wickedly funny crime thriller. 10/10.

A Spacey Comeback and Jet is supremely AMAZING!!!

It truly was not what I expected... it was even better! We got to see the most fun sides of Kevin Spacey, Rebecca De Mornay and (my personal favorite now) Jet Jendreau in ways never before imagined. It was modern-day film noir at its finest. Wickedly funny, not too much violence, sex or gore. This was indeed Spacey's comeback film (though I'm not much of a fan) and Jet was proper in bringing him into the project, despite the harshest of criticisms. All in all, I say Peter Five Eight FAR exceeded expectations for me. And Jet is a real personal favorite of mine ever since Hotel Dunsmuir. If ever a sequel was done, Jet, call on me. Maybe I can be a extra. LOL! An amazing 10 out of 10 stars.

A total escape

Peter Five Eight is just pure entertainment; a simple story-line with enough uncertainty to keep you guessing and waiting for what happens next, shot in a quaint little town. It's nice to see Kevin Spacey back on screen. As he does so well, Kevin brings a certain charm to an otherwise despicable character. In Peter Five Eight, he plays a man on a mission to kill, and is focused on that job above all else. His character will lie and flirt and even pay cash to get the info he needs, and then coldly turn off the charm once his needs are met.

And who is this Jet Jandreau? New to me anyway, she really played well against the man hired to kill her. Totally convincing as her character, Sam - a woman with a secret she's trying to run from. AND she sings quite well. I suspect we'll see much more of her on screen.

Did the screenplay writer(s) and the director know the real estate transaction?

If you don't submit your official offer in paper, deposit your security fund to seal the purchase, as well as the prove of enough fund to buy the property, the seller accepts your offer and signs document back to start the escrow process, you cannot insist that the listing property not to show other potential buyers right away. The real estate agent represent the seller does not have the right and the authority to agree not to show the property right away upon your ridiculous request. But

What we saw in this ridiculous movie is three women, one seller's real estate agent and two buyers, agreed inside the property not to show anymore to any other potential buyers. But

Such highly unlikely scenario actually was not the reason why I gave this stupid movie 1/10 rating, it's because the horrible acting of these three female actors who immediately alerted me that this movie was even worse than a B-movie. So

I stopped watching it right away. K. Spacey obviously did not have the privilege to choose or decline but accept this Peter Five Eight acting opportunity threw to him. Beggar's really can't be choosers.
