Good movie, raw + great soundtrack!

Warning: Spoilers
Yeah, this movie was a good one! It is not normally the type of thing that I watch, but I enjoy movies about different topics sometimes, and I also appreciate Native American culture too. Once I made it past the first song on the soundtrack, that is playing on the pickup truck's radio, the music set the tone for the rest of the film! What I like best about the music is the raw honesty in the music - the simple truth of feeling expressed by the poetry was also refreshing. I also liked the way the songs in the soundtrack were produced. There was a raw element to just the guitar and the vocal on several tracks, with EQ and compression that brought out the rawness and beauty of the instruments! Also, there were nice instrumental sections that had a similar sound! This movie was from the heart. It took some time for it to develop, but there was a sort of reality to this movie that made it seem like it was a real event, remembered the way it really happened. I don't know where the story came from, but it was quite well done. What I like the best about it is that it is sincere, in a way that usually only a play is able to be. There were parts that made me uncomfortable. But I think that is because you really get to live under the hood with all of the characters.

Action, inspirational, educational, drama movie rolled into one
ben-168425 February 2017
This is simply a movie that everyone should see. I gave this movie 10 stars because of the way it hit me emotionally, that I'm still thinking on it one day later, and that it's a must see. I detected some low budget aspects to this film, but the great music, scenery, emotional, action, and educational aspects make up for this. I liked this movie better than Batman v Superman which I saw just a day ago.

I work in the movies and like watching movies because I believe that the medium of drama is a much more interesting and powerful way of delivering a thought, message, or point across than a speech or written article can be.

Alcoholism, Fetal Alcohol Disorder, and drug abuse can seem like you are not living in reality. You wish it was a dream but keep waking up realizing it's not. Not long ago I lived in a wealthy household where 2 people in the extended family died of drug overdoses, one of alcoholic suicide, another I kept finding laying on the floor in emotional agony, and the kids had serious emotional problems. People think drugs are so much fun but the consequences can hit you like a ton of bricks are being dumped on you.

Interesting story, but...
aosa345622 November 2013
While the premise of the movie was interesting, the acting made it difficult to watch. It seemed a lot like the films my senior class in high school did, too scripted. The characters did not seem to show much emotion. There was also a lot of wasted time spent on scenes that had little, if anything, to add to the plot. I found myself fast forwarding through much of the movie.

It definitely was not on par with the other independent films I have watched on Netflix. It was closer to a movie one might see on a religious family channel, but did not have any "moral to the story" ending. If you like Native American culture, there is some included in the story, but not as much as I was expecting. The best part of the movie was the soundtrack.
