Disclaimer: These films are in no particular order and aren't all films I like. I wrote this post to be a companion piece to Kurt Halfyard's wonderful Brave New Worldview – 30 Science Fiction Films of the 21st Century posted over at Row Three, so read this and then piece it together with his and we think you'll have a pretty comprehensive list of important genre stuff from the new millennium to catch up with.
Here's the thing; we love the post apocalypse around here. No foolin'. For those of you just tuning in, Quiet Earth started life as a site dedicated to the genre. And while we cover the whole gamut of weird and wonderful genre film from around the globe now, we still like to think of ourselves as the go-to-guys on the subject. From Panic in the Year Zero, to Planet of the Apes, to The Postman, we've seen...

Let’s start with the synopsis:
“Set in the distant future, Connected is a story about survival and greed with a post-apocalyptic wasteland as its backdrop. Survivors of an unknown disaster shuffle through a desolate landscape, as it quickly becomes clear that not everybody has the strength to survive.”
I never would have expected such a brilliant science fiction western to come out of Denmark if I hadn’t seen it for myself. The entire short is available here for your online viewing pleasure. Here’s the story behind the creation of this film:
“Shot in deserted Faxe Kalkbrud, Denmark, and directed by Jens Raunkjær Christensen and Jonas Drotner Mouritsen, Connected is a unique short film, a sci-fi western with a tiny budget, but huge ambitions. A relatively small but very enthusiastic and talented crew helped bring this bleak vision of the future to the screen. The film is produced...

I’ve watched this very well done, compelling and deeply bizarre Sci-Fi short “Connected” a couple of times now, trying desperately to find a hook that will lead to a pithy caption or comment, but I can’t find anything. The thing is Sci-Fi Teflon for my imagination. Or maybe it’s Monday. We’ll know when we get to the next post. Let me at least try and describe it. Two people cross the desert, leaving a devastated and ruined city, dressed in scuba suits with hoses connecting their breathing together to the constant countdown of a timer and all to the mournful wail of a spaghetti western soundtrack. See what I mean? Jens Raunkjær Christensen & Jonas Drotner Mouritsen put it all together. They are Danish and maybe that explains something. Thanks io9.

Big thanks to Piotr from Opium.org for pointing me to this Pa short Connected from Danish directors Jens Raunkjær Christensen and Jonas Drotner Mouritsen that is now available for online viewing after its festival premiere in September:
Set in the distant future, Connected is a story about survival and greed with a post apocalyptic wasteland as its backdrop. Survivors of an unknown disaster shuffle through a desolate landscape, as it quickly becomes clear that not everybody has the strength to survive.
An English interview with the directors is available at Opium.org.

Back in January we reported on an intriguing Pa short called Connected. All we had then was a cryptic teaser that showed us little, but we were hooked. Well, I'm happy to say the full short doesn't disappoint.
Connected comes from Danish filmmakers Jens Raunkjær Christensen and Jonas Drotner Mouritsen who classify it as a "sci-fi western."
Synopsis:

Watch the full short here. Via our friends at Opium.
It's stunning, watch it.

Back in January, my fellow Twitcher, Swarez posted an article about that there poster you see to your left and the subsequent short film it was for. That short film was Connected, a low budget Danish Sci-fi endeavor spearheaded by directors, Jens Raunkjær Christensen & Jonas Drotner Mouritsen. With the poster and teaser, the big question on everyone's mind was, "when and where can I see it?"
Though it will be making the festival circuit (with three European dates in March), directors J & J have decided to post the film online for all to see, starting Today, March 1st, at the official website: www.ov43.com
The film is absolutely worth a watch; A western infused tale of greed and survival set in a post apocalyptic wasteland, it hearkens the works of Miyazaki and Rene Laloux in design, and features some astounding cinematography and post effects work. Not only is it...

Don’t you just love the look of smoke and dust floating in a wasteland of the future? Sure, I may not want to live there but man does it make for some gorgeous visuals.
Take, for example, the look of Danish filmmakers Jens Raunkjær Christensen and Jonas Drotner Mouritsen’ short film Connected. This micro budget production looks anything but cheap and the visuals that the duo, along with their crew, have managed to create are pretty spectacular.
As soon as you see this footage you’re going to want to know what it’s about. Here’s the skinny:

Browsing through one of my regular poster sites, OMGposters.com, I came across a post pimping a limited edition poster for a Danish Sci-Fi short film Connected. The poster art was awesome and got me intrigued in the film. A short while later I was at the official site and looking at a rather impressive looking teaser for it.
"Set in the distant future, Connected is a story about survival and greed with a post apocalyptic wasteland as its backdrop. Survivors of an unknown disaster shuffle through a desolate landscape, as it quickly becomes clear that not everybody has the strength to survive."
Apparently this was made by a group of friends, spearheaded by the directors Jens Raunkjær Christensen and Jonas Drotner Mouritsen who also wrote it. The thing looks damn impressive for a film shot on a shoe string budget and finished I'm guessing with allot of favors and time on their hands.
