Very powerful
DavidTL3 May 2010
This is my first review ever on IMDb and it's very rare I give anything 10/10 but this Glee episode is an exception. It's very powerful in everything they've done with the characters Mercedes, Kurt and Finn (who are the main subjects for this episode). It's beautiful how they are all connected in some way or another even if they themselves don't realise it. What I love about this episode and it has to be my favourite from any other Glee episode so far is that it speaks from the soul of every person on the planet because even the nasty and most evil people have hearts and it truly shows that it doesn't matter what you look like, all that matters is who you are and not what other people think and this episode prooves it greatly. I will be watching this episode again and recommending it to people who don't like Glee and for them to see that it isn't just about singing, it's also about life and how we cope and feel. This episode itself is "Beautiful"

One of Glee's Best
maligin8727 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I am a huge fan of glee, and I take the show for what it is. It's not perfect, but I still love it. This episode, however, was in my opinion pretty damn close to perfect. It focused primarily on Kurt and Mercedes. Kurt's storyline involved making his father and Finn's mother a couple so he could move in with Finn. His plan ultimately backfired, and the last shot we see of Kurt is him almost in tears, watching his dad bond with Finn. Kurt's relationship with his dad is amazing, and like nothing else I've seen on TV. I think a lot of people can relate to having strained relationships with their dad for whatever reason.

Mercedes' journey was just as relatable. Her character struggled with body issues that many of us deal with on a daily basis. The scene of her and Quinn in the nurse's office was some of the best acting both of them have done so far, and one of the most touching.

Many people had mixed feeling about the previous two episodes, but i don't think anyone can deny that with 'Home', Glee is definitely back.

A little more serious

Warning: Spoilers
Though I adore with all my heart the comic lines and scenes in Glee, on of my favorite shows lately, I got a little tired of not getting to know characters as well as i'd like to. I heard a rumor that Chenoweth was coming back and it had me thrilled and expectant.

Then I saw the episode. Wow. Amazing. Last week I had just been complaining about how Rachel gets too much screen time, how Mercedes and Kurt are my favorite part-of-the-glee-club characters and how they are more likely to have drama, since you know, they ARE drama queens after all. And I had been complaining mostly about how Rachel gets every frigging solo on the show. I take it back. This episode was so much emotion, not losing the fun side, yet not overusing it either. It was so realistic, so down to earth. And then there's the music. Amazing classic songs with stunning voices. Chenoweth is a GODDESS! And I honestly love her duets with Morrison. Mercedes's Beautiful cover was...well, beautiful. And I felt butterflies when Kurt started singing and died when Finn joined in. AND RACHEL GOT NO SONGS! no songs and almost no lines... FINALLY. I do like her, she's fun, annoying but fun, but she had just had TOO MUCH.

This episode had me crying five times. Seriously I counted them. I don't know what makes me lamer-- crying five times or counting them, really. But this episode really got me and I REALLY RECOMMEND IT! I'm not a critic, but I'm a fan, and if you're a fan too you'll like it. Word.

"Home" is the best episode of "Glee" I've seen yet
tavm13 October 2010
Kristen Chenoweth as April is back! Yes, the drunken former glee instructor has appeared once again as a roller rink singer who gives Will and his students rehearsal space in her place since Sue Sylvester has the McKinley High School auditorium all week for her Cheerios to be profiled in a major magazine. Sue instructs one of them-newly joined Mercedes-to lose 10 pounds or she's out. Kurt has played matchmaker to his dad and Finn's mom so he could get closer to Finn but things backfire when his dad bonds more with Finn than he ever did with his own son. And Finn himself has issues with his mom over certain items being moved out...Can I say this is the best episode of "Glee" I've seen yet? I mean, seeing Will and April duet on first "Fire" and then a mash-up of "One Less Bell to Answer" and "A House is Not a Home" both Bacharach-David songs, not to mention seeing Kurt and Finn also perform the latter, and also Mercedes doing "Beautiful" was some of the most moving numbers I've seen on this program yet! Also, I loved seeing Quinn give Mer some pep talk about how alike they were when trying to lose some weight. Oh, all I want to say is "Home" is just such a perfect "Glee" episode! Okay, I want to watch the next one right now...

One of Glee's best episodes...
lunaticprophet28 April 2010
... in regards to the musical selection.

This is probably my favorite eps, to date, with the best musical selection I've heard on the show (IMO). The cast sang several classic songs and Kristin Chenoweth ("Pushing Daisies") gave the best singing performance in the series' brief history! She should be added to the cast IMMEDIATELY! Each time I see her perform she impresses me more -- a beautiful singing voice.

I will have to watch this eps again, very soon, especially the mash-up of Burt Bacharach and Hal David's "One Less Bell to Answer" and "A House is Not A Home" (using the cover version of Luther Vandross).

Musically... this was one of the best eps yet.

Worst in history
sveb8828 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
This might be the worst Glee episode in the short history of the show. I know that the clichés are supposed to come flowing in this show, but this was just too much. I mean, the music wasn't too bad, but come on. Anorexia tendencies, father-son issues, patriotism. In every single episode there has been a nice twist to the common clichés, but this was just plain and simple rubbish. Welcome Lifetime TV! Where is the goofiness? The sudden twists? This seems to be a totally unnecessary filler in the season. The whole thing with the parents of Kurt and Finn could easily be played down in an more satisfying episode.

Truly hoping the next one is better.

eh, watch the language there!

I have to admit - this show is a guilty pleasure because I'm a singin'-in-the-shower kind of girl. The cast has talent, and the music usually gets me amped up. So imagine my disdain when, upon recently catching up on season 1, I got treated to the following little gem in this otherwise-stellar episode: Kurt's dad, sitting down to watch a game with Finn: "I hate Duke like I hate the Nazis...(trails off into meaningless mumble about tobacco)" really, Glee writers, REALLY? As a Duke alumna who was herself heavily involved in arts programming as an undergrad, and whose grandfather and granduncles actually FOUGHT the Nazis, I'm unimpressed with your simile.

Maybe try to be a little less jealous and a little more original in your put-downs next time. Meanwhile, I guess I'll be watching Duke win more games instead of the musical angst of pseudo-highschoolers from now on.
