When General Parham is saying "No plan survives first contact", he is quoting the German General Helmuth von Moltke (1800-1891): "no plan survives first contact with the enemy's main force". A quote also popularized by the German World War 2 General Erwin Rommel

SDV - SEAL Delivery Vehicle, a small submersible capable of carrying up to six people, it is used to deliver Navy SEAL's and their equipment on special operations missions, on covert missions where stealth and zero visibility is critical. The SDV is not pressurized, SEAL's breath from compressed air tanks in the SDV, they are launched from a Dry Deck Shelter (DDS), a removable module attached to the airlock of a submarine that allow SEAL's to enter and exit the SDV while the submarine is submerged. SDV's are usually deployed from specially modified attack submarines, but can also be deployed from a surface ship. Missions that require SEAL's to do an underwater SDV deployment are typically done from the USS Jimmy Carter (SSN-23), a specially modified Seawolf-class attack submarine. The Jimmy Carter is 100 feet longer than the other submarines of her class, she had a special Multi-Mission Platform (MMP) added to her midsection, the MMP allows for fast deployment of divers, Remote Operated Vehicles (ROV) and special operations equipment like the SDV, it can be carried in the MMP without the need for the Dry Deck Shelter. However with only a few hours work (to attach the DDS) any submarine can be modified to deploy a SDV, sometimes SDV missions are launched from other submarines if the mission is in an area the Jimmy Carter cannot reach in time. SDV missions also are occasionally launched from Ohio-class ballistic missile submarines as they are designed to be able to run deeper and quieter than attack submarines and can provide the SEAL's with more stealth.
Ray said that he had PTS, but the technical name is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, the reason the word Disorder is removed is due to its negative connotations, and being under the ongoing care of a healthcare professional.
