Boring and pointless
Annadelioncourt9 September 2021
I haven't miss either Josie or the pussycats. I don't want more songs and drama with point less people. Riverdale have enough cast as it is. I was happy when josie moved.

Disappointed
dreamingskychild9 September 2021
It is interesting to see some older characters again, but for me this episode was too much of a musical and disconnected from the rest of the season. I do love me good musical scores, but this was too much for my taste.

All hail the original Josie and the Pussycats
richmac951186 October 2021
I've had some problems some of the re-imaging of the Archie comics for this series. One of the biggest was taking Josie and the Pussycats, the original multi-racial band and turning them all black. It just feels like a step backwards. It just goes to show you how forward thinking the comics and old cartoon series really were.

What was the point?
catagello9 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What did this episode add to the show? It had nothing to do with the current plotline, the songs they used made no sense, and are we getting no resolution over Jughead coming back to Riverdale? The last time Tabitha and Betty spoke to him he was hitchhiking to New York - and now they're all buddy buddy with no explanation?

At least the past musical episodes continued the plot and were a bit of a laugh, this did nothing for the storyline and to be quite honest was boring to watch.

No riverdale vibe, no originality just a musical episode trying it's very hard to be a typical Disney show.

VERY DISSAPOINTED!

You can skip this episode

This episode ranks as my worst. Nothing to do with the story line at all. And yes Jughead appeared out of nowhere. As a huge Meatloaf fan right from the 70s I was appalled at the rendition of "It's all coming back to me". So much so that I had to pause the show and play the video. There are some songs that shouldn't be covered. I hope this episode isn't part of what's to come.

With all the stories going on in the show, I found this a pointless episode, a boring episode, and I don't know why we needed this episode.

Where did Jughead come from?
TeeJay19929 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was good. Ashleigh Murray is a standout. But when she was talking to all her old friends, I suddenly see Jughead, and I'm like WHAT? How did he get out of homeless alley or whatever? Like how is he suddenly back with his friends? I was hoping there would be a scene where his friends were like "Jughead! Where were you this whole time?"

Yet another wasted episode. This show needs a good shake up or else it should be cancelled.

Best episode ever
flife-383279 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was so good, loved seeing my girls back in action, this episode really had me crying in some parts, so emotional. Loved that Mel was narrating the episode, as she should, her and val getting more than 2 lines was amazing, really hope there's a spin off with them. Loved seeing Toni back, and so excited that she finally had her baby boy. Everything about this episode was amazing. This really was the best episode this season, maybe even for the whole show (obviously not grouping 4.01 into this, that has its own special place <3) Also Mel having a girlfriend? Love that for her. Glad that josie and the pussycats got what they deserved, and i hope to see more of them!

Edit: y'all aren't realizing that this episode wasn't about the storyline or ships, it was about black women finally getting the spotlight after being mistreated since the shows debut, and it's sad that y'all cannot see that.

Painfully cringe
maxinepuffington15 September 2021
Humanity is not perfect, I know. But why are we punished with these horrific musical episodes?? No one deserves this. Please stop!

Also almost all the actresses are so unhealthily thin. Give them some food damn it.

Whyyyyy another musical episode?!?
Jackieeeee9319 September 2021
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I cannot stand the cheesy musical episodes. I fast forward through the singing. This felt like a complete waste of an episode. If you liked Josies character from the early seasons then you will enjoy this episode. But for me, it was a waste.

How many times can one series jump the shark?
jmdanley9 September 2021
Once again, this series presented its annual "musical" episode, and once again it was cringe worthy. WIth overproduced "teen" numbers, overly autotuned singing, choreography that has little to do with what is being sung and camera work that literally cuts 3-4 times per second, we get a dizzying piece of TV schlock. Add in a major plot line that is obviously a setup for a spinoff, and you get a real mess.

The sad thing is that this series COULD have been better had it stuck with some of the more mystery-based story lines; it would have been something to rival "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." But instead, this show has morphed into a parody of itself, almost turning into a twenty-something version of the 1980's "Dynasty."

Attention CW: It's long past time to pull the plug on this show.

Again...
elektronek-122 September 2021
All previous episodes without any plot addition but with musical vibes had the worst ratings ever. Why there must be musical in every single season? Are you just stupiiid or want to bury audience numbers and finally kill it? If you don't have ideas for 20 episodes in season... just make 10... but good one... without musical stopgap. Simple?

The whole season has sucked so far but this episode was so bad that I had to comment. What happened to the writers of this show?

Loved it!!
rashidahee9 September 2021
I loved this episode. It felt like a pilot episode for a new show. It was like a filler episode in a way but still it was a really fun, entertaining episode. Loved the singing. I miss Josie so much and I wish they had their own show.

Epic mediocrity
alexandrasabastian16 September 2021
If Josie McCoy is Riverdale's Beyoncé then all I can say is that Hiram Lodge is not wrong trying to destroy the town.

The greatest mystery in this series is how Josie is apparently a famous and celebrated mega-star. This show would be SO MUCH BETTER if no one sang, not even the ones that actually can. I love music theatre and this show is making me forget that.

The only reason I'm not giving this episode less than 2 stars in because Betty, Jughead, Kevin and Toni are in it.

Better than the rest of this season
WhenAmyMetSalad18 September 2021
This episode alone was better than the whole of season 5. As much as I can't stand the glee ripoff Roberto pulls for his musical episodes this one actually did well. Too bad we won't get a proper Pussycats show it would do better than Katy Keene honestly as long as it doesn't try to tell a story through music and leave the musical numbers for the cats performances. Glad the original members are back together.

Please tell me this wasn't a backdoor pilot...
m-4782610 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Because if it is, you can sign me out now. The only parts I liked were Pop's scenes and musical piece, because these actresses can sing. The rest was witnessing Josie's lack of talent and self important attitude, turned into some kind of event for the show. Sorry, but her father's passing, didn't help redeem her previous scenes. One thing she did right, was taking her friends on tour with her. At least they can give some energy to her singing. Toni interrupting her performance, was a good finding too. And that last seconds twist... I didn't even know if it was meant to be taken seriously. Or if the actors purposely made it look corny and out of nowhere. But I guess it's Riverdale for us « too demanding » viewers...

Worst one yet
denvadavies15 September 2021
I didn't enjoy any of this. The singing, the storyline (lack of). I found it was completely irrelevant to current storyline.

The singing was cringe worthy and it didn't stop. I agree with another review left saying that it needs a major change or it should just be cancelled.

WORST. BACKDOOR. PILOT. EVER.

Would have given it an extra star if the absolute cringe inducing over the top cliché last 3 minutes were cut!

I enjoy the musical Riverdale epi each season - it's a camp fun time - but this was a pile of absolute......

Impressive
jellybeanluver84621 August 2022
After all the bad reviews of prior "musical" episodes, y'all decided to make yet another. They aren't even in high-school anymore and you still managed to make a terrible musical episodes- again. Please, just stop with the musicals, the first one wasn't that great and they have gotten worse through the seasons.

I skipped this episode
ellinormeurk20 October 2021
This was the worst episode ever. I hate when there is to much singing. I tried to fast forward but the episode did not get better so I skipped it.

The character can't sing that song either. It was false a number of times...so stop these singing episodes and focus on the story.
