WPIX-11 used to cover this parade, so much better.
Carycomic11 October 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Because, they paid thorough and equal attention to all the floats, civic groups, folk-dancing troupes, and marching bands appearing in it. Identifying each and every one of the latter, in particular, and then actually _shutting up_ for the entire duration of whatever musical number the band was playing at that moment! Not resuming commentary until the TV cameras focused on the next segment of the parade.

Yet, the way NBC now covers it, their initials might as well stand for "Nothing But Commercialism." Because, the lion's share of their so-called "coverage" consists of pre-staged musical numbers; frivolous, overly-prolonged interviews from the sidelines; and mutual self-congratulatory hype about whatever network shows they're appearing on, regularly.

If that's the way you're going to do it, NBC, you might as well telecast this parade over the Home Shopping Network, from now on. That's one big commercial interruption, 24/7!
