SNL Gave Up Their Funniest Cast Member
iunify30 June 2022
This guy is funny as shabang (can't swear). That's really all I want to say, but their telling me I have to use at least 150 characters to write a review. Brendan Schaub is the worst comedian ever, it'd be funny to see a bit about that.

Very Funny
wyelkins20 August 2023
I was very surprised. Most comedians in YouTube are mediocre Gillis is original and very very funny. I hope he does Many more specials on Netflix and HBO too. He is not the usual liberal pandering dude who stays away from controversial topics. I am sorry he was cut from SNL. He would have been a breakout star. The part where he talked about his family was especially believable and something we can all relate to. He was consistently funny throughout the entire special. I will definitely recommend him to my friends and family.

Why do they require 600 damn characters in is review? Seems excessive...

Had me continuously laughing...
ruthiempowell30 December 2023
It's rare for a stand up to have me constantly laughing. But this guy is just my exact sense of humour. Seen him randomly on youtube shorts then because I liked his humour so much I searched for him on YouTube and found this stand up set. Even when I was poorly lying in bed in the dark this guy had me laughing so much I had to pause it to cough. I've got the flu. Haven't laughed in ages. This is so so so funny. Honestly.. Wish I could see him live. I hope he comes to the UK one day. Please do a UK tour. I'd love to see you live Shane. Watched Ricky Gervais's latest stand up on Netflix two days ago and thought it was absolutely horrendous, it was so bad.... After watching this gem, I'm reminded what an actually funny comedian is. Thank you. Thoroughly recommend. Very good. Great work. Bravo. Going to watch your other one on Netflix tonight. Excited.

I watched it twice in a row
colbymroberts22 December 2021
I watched it multiple times eventually, like my daughter when frozen came out. As people said before, " is the special ready to come out?" or "people just want the cash grab and put our specials way too early"......the point is this special clearly needed to come out, hes been working the material and he killed it.

Best Comedy Special of The Last 5 Years
allianson16 May 2022
I very rarely write reviews but I've watched this 5 times or more now. Such a great watch and most importantly it is funny, very funny. It is insightful but not pretentious and he has a great delivery but it is not overly polished. I love how raw it was, like actually being in a comedy club. Great length for a special too. Best special I've watched in the last 5 years. Perfect with its imperfections.

So good.

This is what stand up comedy looks like. Unbelievable special. I'm a huge fan of stand up and have been for years. Can honestly say I've never laughed harder at any other special than this. The fact that he doubts himself is insane. I will definitely pay to see him when his is in my area next. Great work Shane.

Only two reviews here? How?

This special is hilarious! Grab a beer, sit down, and prepare for laughs. Shane has a great way of balancing politics in his act and making it hilarious for both sides of the aisle. His college frat boy style is something that reminds me of Nick Swardson in a way. Shane has become one of my favorite comics as of late, and I'm Asian! :D.

The new CK and Carlin.
guydutoit-2182726 July 2022
I heard all about Shane Gillis before watching this and he certainly was held in the highest of regard by his fellow comedians - but he absolutely killed it with this. He has talent of CK and Carlin while being likeable and relatable. What a special and what a comedian.

Extremely Funny
mattyjay-8390428 December 2022
Shane is the best in the business at making you feel comfortable right from the get go. He has a charm in his way of telling stories that makes you feel like you've known him your whole life. As if Shane was in the friend group growing up. He is absolutely hilarious in this.

Don't make it too complicated. Grab some friends, grab some drinks, and laugh hard for an hour straight.

Disclaimer: Shane dunks on both sides of the political aisle continuously... if by any chance you're one of those insufferable people who make politics your whole personality, maybe sit this one out. Or don't. Maybe you'll learn to laugh a bit at the absurdity of life.

Refreshing, I'm hoping for more
backup-503628 October 2021
He's really funny, charming and has a lighthearted demeanor, so even when he says things that I'm sure the american left would consider "offensive", it's hard not to smile.

His stories are pretty unique too, aside from a tired tangent on american politics, of course, but he had a unique twist on that too, so it wasn't quite the eye-rolling material you'd expect. But it was the weakest part of an otherwise killer special.

But yeah, top tier comedian right there, and this special is one of the best of 2021 for sure.

Best of all, you don't need to subscribe to cancer like Netflix to watch this special, it's free on youtube, and it's better than all of SNL and most of Netflix's frontpage comedians combined, so be sure to watch it and show some love to this dude.

Madea Goes To The Moon

'Live in Austin' is 48 minutes of pure comedy joy because it never lets up which is rare in a standup routine. This special put Shane Gillis on my radar and watching you can see why the man has blown up in the last few years. You find yourself viewing it a second time within the same week and it still kills like the first go. He's just extremely likable. A down to earth character where his delivery / personality is able to deliver racy jokes and make them fun without being offensive or uncomfortable.

Racism gets mined for gold branched effortlessly into football and the transgendered. Talking about Trump leads to a fantastic impression of him. Shane's dad gets brought up making for some killer soundbites. Even his sister's unpleasant problems get talked about and like everything else he touches he makes it work. In a subject that will be familiar to his fans he closes on a hilarious bit involving the mentally handicapped that isn't in poor taste.

There's a lot of great comedians - past and present - who've done stand-up videos worth checking out, but it's rare to find one without segments that miss the mark. I hope Shane Gillis continues to find success and keeps the momentum going whenever it's thru this medium or exploring sketch comedy further. 'Live in Austin' is one of the best comedy specials I've not only watched recently but easily all time.
