"Splinter Cell: Conviction" was decisive for fans of the globetrotting techno-thrillers based on the works of Tom Clancy. For the series faithful, the gunplay heavy 2010 entry, in simplifying the stealth and emphasizing quick kills using the then-new Mark and Execute mechanic was a betrayal to the methodical stealth gameplay of previous "Splinter Cell" titles. On the other hand, to some, it was a more accessible game, still allowing players to skulk around the shadows as Sam Fisher, but with less time spent waiting for NPCs to complete lengthy routes along their AI-controlled paths.
When Ubisoft gave an early look at "Splinter Cell: Blacklist" during last year's E3, the big question was which "Splinter Cell" would it be? The deliberate, low and slow stealth game of the "Double Agent" era, or the more action-oriented "Conviction?" Last week, the publisher brought out the gaming press for some hands-on time with two single player maps from "Blacklist,...

Sam and his team must hunt down these terrorists by any means necessary, and stop the Blacklist countdown before it reaches zero.

The Film:
The recent Recession and global economic woes have scared a lot of people, many for the first time, and is something that won’t be lost on film makers. It’s certainly on the mind’s of any Diy director, something where their desire is usually as high as a few thousand dollars, but your families got to eat, you know? With this as a backdrop, in terms of Troma’s recent release of a Diy exploitation flick in Grim and in its plot, it’s sad to see Grim never really amounts to much.
Writer/director Adrian Santiago’s aim was well-schooled, yet it just didn’t sink it, and I’m sure many have already out-right dismissed Grim due to its Diy production values and its Troma affiliation, but shame on you. Grim isn’t that bad, more or less, especially in this world of Diy.
