An homage to Sir Christopher Lee's life and work with interviews of Lee himself, Viggo Mortensen, Tim Burton and Roger Moore

A great documentary about Sir Christopher's life and work, highlighting his incredible talents: from hosting Saturday Night Live to the German dubbing of the Last Unicorn and his recent participation in the Rhapsody project. It is a wonderful homage with previously never shown archive clips and absorbing interviews of Sir Christopher's friends Viggo Mortensen, Tim Burton or Roger Moore. Also unique is the showing of Christina, Lee's charming daughter. Having seen amateurish "Making of a Legend", a previous Lee biography, my expectations were low, but French filmmaker Oliver Schwehm paid Lee due respect. Even if you are not a fan of Lee, this biography is highly enjoyable for the insight into his life and work.

The channel Arte TV had programmed the film on 3rd of January 2010 in the context of a « Christopher Lee Special » weekend, but was apparently forced by members of Lee's entourage not to air it. The reasons for their opposition to the documentary are not clear and until now there is no statement from the channel on their homepage.

First newspaper reviews about the film have been generally favorable. I hope this cancellation is only short-term and that Arte TV finds a way to air this program quickly. Sir Christopher has deserved it.
