Really?
Joe_Crisan15 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
OK, I'll keep it short.

The good?

+ The teenagers were actually teenagers. Unlike other films where the teenagers are played by twenty- or thirty-somethings, this actually used teenage-looking girls.

+ Variety. The girls were believable as a mixed group of teenagers, with none being too pretty or perfect looking

The bad?

+ The plot could have been decent, but turns out pretty thin

+ One survivor - really?

+ The ending? eh.

+ The setting - cliché.

An okay movie to watch on a boring night or day.....
dejavuicutooo14 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This movie wasn't the best movie, but it wasn't horrible either. I enjoyed it enough to continue watching it until the end, so what does that say? I thought that I read somewhere "First time director" and a girl out of high school writer; so with that in mind the movie surpassed what that could have spewed onto a movie film! Bottom line is this: If you're looking for a out of your seat thriller with blood and guts splattered all over the screen; not for you.

If you want to watch a movie and you're having trouble finding one: Watch it! It is a pretty good movie just not the best, that's all.

*****Maybe a Spoiler Ahead***********

That lady (you'll know which one) has the yellowest teeth I've ever seen on a movie yet. Like she took the tar from the cigarette's and brushed her teeth with it......

Just had to get that out, lol...... Good Luck!!!

Decent
maryfeather8012 February 2013
I just saw this movie and at first i thought that it was not worth my time because it took a lot of time to get to the point..The cast is unknown except Thomas Wilson Brown who was pretty good at his part.In my opinion they should have cast another known actor so that the movie attracts more people. The blonde teacher was unknown to me,i didn't recognize her from any movies that I've watched. The bad thing about the film was the shaky camera which hurt my eyes a bit and the fact that the place that the girls went to camp was not appropriate because it was in the middle of the jungle so it is natural that something bad will happen and who goes somewhere unknown without at least a cellphone??It's like you're waiting it to happen..The ending for me was predictable but then again I've seen so many movies so i should know by now how some of them may end.I recommend this movie because low budged films deserve a chance and not everything has to be Hollywood perfect.

Summary: A gaggle of girls go into the forest and meet a psycho intent on killing them. Gaggle clucks movie sucks.
david47525 January 2014
Apparently IMDb requires me to create a really long review. No real character development going in this flick. I could end it there but rules are rules. The movie starts out giving us some nice cinematography. For some reason the gaggle gets on a house boat. Probably someone needed to take a tax deduction on a houseboat and someone else wanted to see their boat in the movies. Not much character development going on here. We could have seen the girls starting out to be in conflict with each other and coming together to defeat the psycho and using their smarts (sans technology) but "nooooooo!" The term "narrative excess" is defined in this film. I really tried to watch this film but I couldn't. I stopped, tried again, stopped tried again, fast forwarded the film, and tried again to no avail. The cinematography was good but it could not save this film.

Could have been better
ihearthorrorfilm17 February 2013
This is your basic "killer chasing girls in the woods" type movie. We've all seen this style of movie before, where you're rooting for the girls to escape the psycho hunter while he picks them off one by one. But the difference about this movie is I felt confused the whole time, especially at the end. I think because it lacked a lot of dialogue, which was wasted on getting to know the teenage girls. We never really understood why the killing couple came after the girls in the first place. With their first kill in the film, it was clear that it was sadistic and that they were doing it for their own pleasure. But then it gets complicated towards the end, with the couple leaving me wondering, "What was that all about?" This movie had potential, but then got confusing when the story would focus on the killer's personality. I still made it all the way through, but honestly, by the end of the film I felt like I didn't really care one way or the other.

A little bit STABBY
hotdoggirl-638-19819120 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
OK, at the outset, I was all ready to ADORE this movie- an indie film about a group of teenage girls on a "technology intervention" outing. And- for real- there are some true moments of FEAR in this film that are hard to come by. The scares rely not on special effects, but on the chemistry between the characters and their imaginative acting, which is raw and honest.

HOWEVER.

Pros: The opening scene cuts to about 30-40 minutes of extremely realistic teen-girl talk. If you are not a high-school teenager Guru like me, you will probably hate the hell out of this stuff. They are annoying, they are immature, they are everything teenage girls are SUPPOSED to be.

You quickly realize the "sidekick" girl is the kidnapped girl from the opening sequence with severe Stockholm syndrome and you KNOW it's going to go DOWN when he tries to replace her. LIKE YOU DO WHEN YOUR KIDNAPPED GIRLFRIEND IS GETTING OLD.

Half of the girls have problems or disabilities like asthma that make them sure-fire DEAD. Hi- chick who gets MAULED in a bear-trap- Jason would have murdered you double-quick, you are lucky you even made it out of that trap at all.

Cons: I have NO IDEA why this trashy psycho is murdering young white girls. Other than that they are young white girls.

There is like 40 minutes of exposition in the beginning that is not especially relevant, except to make you like the 17 different girls and not want them to die. But then they ALL die. Almost.

The ENDING: YES. GET HIM. But also, WTF? Why. and What happens next. I dunno.

As you can tell, this stabby movie made me a little bit stabby. They had some great raw material to work with in this talented little group of actresses. But in the end it just goes nowhere.

Couldn't get through .07 Minutes of this STUDENT FILM
member211428 August 2013
What a JOKE!! What is it with IMDb being a portal now for student films??!! What is this? MySpace? I tried tried tried to watch this lame waste of digital media past seven minutes and absolutely couldn't do it. LOVE the reviews by family members and friends here also! Notice how they are aligned within 2-3 days apart even! NO plot - NO character backbone, NO motivation for NOTHING! A bunch of giggling little brats and scary illustration of our modern day i-phone app generation boneheaded teenager wannabee artsy UN-educated dweebs! Lets see... we can photoshop a poster to make it look "Real" nowadays, we can borrow 100,000 from the bank and rent "Digital cameras" using SD cards bought at BestBuy, we can ADVERTISE on Craigslist for wannabee actors or post on a college rec-room bulletin board for extras and POW!! 2013! You can make believe you have a movie yo! Ain't nobody made money with this excepting the 2500.00 that Netflix gives the production company for it's Life rights! HAAA! And THEY better watch out as if they keep buying this kinda trash, people are going to get wise and start using VUDU whereas REAL movies are streamed. Not this generic I can pretend to be Hollywood garbage!

Recommended for Movie Lovers...
stonesthrow200213 February 2013
I saw a film that looked great, shot on a micro-budget with no name actors that all delivered superb performances. Thomas Wilson Brown (Honey, I Shrunk the Kids) makes his long awaited return to film and delivers a chilling performance that is fabulously creepy!! Those that seek heavy blood and gore, you'll have to look elsewhere as Glenn Withrow opted to shoot more Hitchcock style with the violence than Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive). Now there wasn't a true protagonist, which would have been preferred, since most of us need a hero to pull for, but this was written by a first time writer while in high school. For this first attempt, I have to applaud this young lady. The performances and visuals keep this film interesting and a must see for movie lovers. Bravo...

There are some ridiculous things in the story.

There are some ridiculous things in the story. The villain's purpose is not even clear. I didn't like this movie and I don't recommend watching it. Bad script and bad acting.

Superb Horror Film
jlthornb5114 August 2015
Director Glen Withrow's redefines horror and pushes the envelope of terror with his film, The Mooring. Building the suspense at a fever pitch, he creates an atmosphere of stark raving fright within minutes with a exciting opening sequence. The production values are first rate and the Idaho locations heighten the feeling of surrealism that permeates the film. An exciting cast of young faces are introduced in this motion picture and are sure to become major stars as a result of its impact. Their performances are outstanding and there isn't a false not in the bunch. The true horror in this film lies outside the realm of blood and gore and the focus is upon the terror of unexplained disappearance. Thomas Wilson Brown's downright breathtaking in the role of Richard, a disturbing turn that should catapult him to the stratosphere of the acting profession.

The Mooring: Epic!
The Mooring was very superb and a fine thriller full of intensity. The cast and especially the girls were amazing in this film. The story was very suspenseful and kept everyone engaged. Directed by Glenn Withrow I give it a thumbs up, a true horror impact and beyond chilling. There were happy moments and sad moments a motion picture that focuses on many standards. Thomas Wilson Brown brought his character in a major turn of events, great work pulling off such a violent character. Hallie Todd I give her a glorified thumbs up, she was sweet, kind, and loving beyond the story being a like mother and role model to the girls, but the lost of her saddened the girls big time. The audience must watch to view how Hallie Todd's character "Nancy" influenced the girls. Brooklyn Tate and Bailey Morgan did good portraying the character "Mickey" it's very deep and sad to see Mickey's life changed in seconds and changed in the course of being gone for ten years. Richard shattered her life and stolen her Innocence, but in the end Mickey sees Richard for who he is and who he has always been and Mickey gets revenge on Richard for what he has done to her and these girls. Beyond this The Mooring is a must watch. The girls in this film were great and hope to see them in more films. Awesome work Glenn and the cast.

Um.... wtf was the purpose of this movie
foreverlost700023 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I watched it it stays boring but sort of picks up at the 45 minute mark. At the end of the movie i was just like ..... what was it even about? like nothing omfg im left so speechless with the 90 minutes of my life this movie just stole that i have nothing to say. There was no creativity absolutely no character growth or defining plot. When they died i did not care because there was no build up to any of the girls. The killers motivation and back story of the buck toothed hooker looking chick was not delved into. I wanted to know her motivation for what she did at the end. Im so glad i did not pay to see this movie or i would be very angry with myself. This movie is not even worth the cheap cardboard DVD box it is contained in. I rated this movie a one because unfortunately there is not a zero. I would like to add one so that this movie could get the rating it deserves. All this movie is is a turd somebody laid in the toilet that was badly in need of a flushing and was left because the one who laid it forgot about it. Avoid this movie like the plague i wish i could sue the creators for theft of my lifespan. So long 90 minutes of my life heed this warning viewers i don't want you to loose 90 minutes of your life to this pointless horribly thought out uninspiring piece of garbage. And to the girls who acted in this movie just remember some jobs are better left off of your resume.

HOW DO YOU MOVE THE HORSE?
nogodnomasters18 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The Mooring comes across as two separate films. The first half consists of a group of giggly young girls going camping/boating. They are all in trouble due to their addiction to the electronic media: i.e shyness, accident while texting, cyber bullying, writing Amazon reviews etc. They give up the gizmo world and are assigned tasks like "write a hand written letter" or play a board game...things they have difficult doing. I really liked this aspect of the movie as the effect the electronic media has had on society still lacks data points.

This was a way to build character and to eliminate cell phones before it digresses into a bad abduction story with a guy who plays violent video games and has trouble relating to people.

The main problem I had was there were too many girls to get to know. It was difficult to establish all those characters. The second problem I had was that the first half of the picture was pretty darn decent as a separate film. I resented the second half as it didn't meet with my formulaic expectations: The girls learn skills and then bond and combine their skills to "Rambo" their foe. Instead the second half was a second rate human prey film.

For several of the actresses, this was their first film, apparently college drama students. They did a first rate job, perhaps having lived the early roles that they played. Having said that, if you expect a horror film, expect one with more screams then horror. There is really no suspense or terror factor. Might work as a fright film for young teen girls.

Parental Guide: No f-bombs, sex, or nudity.
