It was.... Alright?

Warning: Spoilers
If anything, it was a nice tribute to the band for being around 50 years from now, it's crazy. But Disney isn't the best choice for when it comes to a make a tribute for a band like queen. Like have you heard some of there music, some of it is a bit raunchy for Disney's taste. But I'll review how this special was and each singer and band who was involved in this special.

When I first saw it, I thought it was gonna be grand but it was a let down start at first, then in the second half it was great, but went down hill at the end, I gotta say, I wish they did a better job, this is my favorite band, and Ik Disney means well and gives respect to the band, they also wanna look out for the kids by taking out certain things in the songs. Also the transitions to the next performance was getting kinda boring after the second half. But this special should've been in the hands of like WB or universal, ya know make it for those whoever wants to rock out, the young generation and the old generation who grew up with this band.

Now the people involved singing the amazing songs for this band:

Jojo Siwa: should probably make the performance better or maybe make it so adults can enjoy the show. 3/10.

Jimmy Allen: pretty good, I like the different tone he used for the song, very soothing. 8/10

Miss Piggy: ... no.... Just no... I love the muppets, I even love there spoof on Bohemian Rhapsody. But I was cringing the entire thing with her and jimmy, I say she should just be around Kermit more(which by the way Disney, I would like Steve Whitmire back for Kermit plz). But overall I felt like they just put her in there not knowing how others would feel. 2/10

Pentatonix: it was fine, I wasn't too excited for it. I like they're work, ig it just doesn't work for me that much, but it was entertaining nonetheless, but I still love "Somebody to love". 6/10

Disney Broadway: loved the musicals, love the actors, love the song, but they should've picked something more appropriate considering what this song is about. But it was pretty good overall. 8/10

Fall out boy: not bad, I honestly liked this one, but it sounded like the guy singing was trying to be both Freddie and Bowie. You can be only one buddy, still I liked it. 9/10

Derek Hough & Alexander Jean: A little to Spicy and too much salsa for the song, then again this song was made for like bars or dance clubs and all that(if you know what I mean) but I liked the choreography in this performance, kinda gives off a "Grease" vibe. 7/10

Alessia Cara: kinda mixed feelings on this one, I think she did a good job, maybe it was a little too sultry for my taste, plus I didn't even she existed. 5/10

One republic: I loved this one. The swimmers dancing in the pool was very appropriate for this song and I liked the the singing, pretty amazing I must say. 10/10

Adam Lambert: I like Adam as a performer and he's doing well taking up the mantle for Freddie and being the new lead singer of Queen, but it might be my Biased brain but I liked Freddie as the lead singer in the band, but Adam was pretty good. 8/10

Darren Chris: what a squidward move this host did, he was pretty entertaining as the host for the most part, but being the last act is a very squidward move to do. I would've chosen panic! At the disco for that final preformance. He was alright ig, not that good but alright. 4/10

Disney, I love you guys, but you should know your audience better and not worry about child safety when it comes to these kinds of things with queen or turning R rated movies into pg-13 films like what you did with Deadpool 2. Bye.

It was ok. Trip down memory lane.

Not great but fun to watch. Good selection of songs and Adam Lambert was the best. But synchronized swimmers? Very interesting interpretation of songs but most of those songs were hard to sing. Took bravery to go on tv while the show almost forced you to compare to the real thing. Gosh I miss 'em!

I watched, and instantly regretted it.

The out of sync vocals to audio. The fact that some sound engineer likely hates one of the Broadway cast since they gave them the voice of a shrieking cat. Then that Jojo just has the complete inability to appear threatening. Derek looked like if someone who had only heard what a biker looked like was given a thrift store gift card and told to create a costume. Musicians that were not playing live. (Seriously? Is that against COVID protocols?) Jimmy Allen did a great job, despite having to work with a puppet.

This show used prerecorded vocals and then put them in with all the audio presentation of 5 cent beer night karaoke. The entire show felt like an hour long tik-tok fail compilation. Truly a kick in the sack to Queen.

Would've been 10 if.....

Darren Criss wasn't the host. A great trip back to my childhood was ruined by this blathering idiot. His intros were way too long, and I wanted him to STFU already.

Let's Do This Review as if Freddie was watching it...

Warning: Spoilers
Oh, he sounds cute, of course he does, it's Disney.

"We Will Rock You" - Jojo Siwa:

Oh dear God, I know I'm camp but you couldn't pay me enough to wear that coat, and what did they do to my microphone stand? But her voice is sooo flat, this is an anthem people, give me 100k people and make it a proper. Too bad the girl on guitar wasn't actually playing the guitar solo, I'm sure Brian would have been impressed. So far this is a 0 out 10.

Intermission: Of course he is cute, I even like the coat he is wearing, and some semi-sly stuff. But it's been 50 years?

"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" - Jimmy Allen and Miss Piggy.

Who is this ebony god, oh my his voice has come down from the heavens, he's got the idea behind the song and he's channeling it so perfectly!!!! And now they are screwing it up with the voice of a muppet? What is this some kind of cruel joke? Jimmy Allen - 10 out 10, Miss Piggy - 3 out of 10.

The cute boy is back to introduce the next song, yay...even with the stache that only I can pull off.

"Somebody to Love" - Pentatonix They are solid, love how they harmonize, but they are an acapella group, they should be able to pull it off. Pentatonix - 7 out 10, solid and respectable.

The cute boy is back again and what is this about the next singers being where they are from?

"Don't Stop Me Now" by Disney on Broadway *Starts laughing" Oh my god, they are trying to kill me with the humor...do they get what this song is about? They are competent, but bloody sunday, I think they are going to kill me with laughter on this song! Disney on Broadway - 5 out of 10 for the singing, 2billion out of 10 for the lack of awareness..

Under Pressure by Fall Out Boy

Oh this has some hope, a competent band and song I looooved doing with David.....David, get over here...! They hit this song on the head with the vocals and muscianship. FallOut Boy 0 8 out of 10.

"Another One Bites The Dust" - Alexander Jean and Derek Hough.

So I figure the guy must be Derek Hough, now I know how I swing baby, but he makes me look flat out butch. But I love the attitude that BC Jean is bringing to this song.

Derek Hough - 1 out of 10 Alexander Jean - 9 out 10

Killer Queen - Alessia Cara

Come on Disney, you want to fete Queen, then why not go and get Lady Gaga, Lzzy Hale, Sharon den Adel. She seems like a nice girl, but she doesn't really bring anything special to the song, I'm getting ready to head back to heaven here.

Alessia Cara - 6 out 10. Sorry Darling, this isn't your song

We Are The Champions - One Republic.

Another pop band with a flat take on a song. Seriously Disney, you just trying to find those that are willing to work for free? This is just so flat...so bleh....so below average...it will make people wonder why wrote it in the first place.

One Republic - 2 out of 10

The Show Must Go On - Adam Lambert

Finally the one man who could replace me, doing a song that he gets 2000 percent. His vocals are soaring, and honey if I was around, I might have to get a divorce from Jim. I'm that much in love with your vocals and your look and everything you're doing in the song!!!!

Adam Lambert - 10 out 10.

Darren Criss -Bohemian Rhapsody

Oh look, it's the cute boy once again. Hopefully....well he's putting his all into it, but those faces, you should have studied the song, talked to Brian, Roger and John, understand the song, and you could have rocked it, but as cute as you are, you're just not there.

Darren Criss - 5 out of 10

Overall 2 out of 10, Too much cringe mixed in with the average and mediocre. Now back to Heaven, me and John Morrison are playing chess this afternoon.

Awful

How could a giant studio like Disney screw up Freddy Mercury's music so absolutely? Do not waste your time with this garbage. Move on and watch something else or just put on a Queen CD. I couldn't watch the whole thing it was that bad.

YIKES !!!!
vidiot4926 November 2021
I was eager to see currently popular artists pay homage to Queen with some great covers of the band's music. Darren Criss is a very talented guy, but in this production he was given cringe worthy skits with horribly forced dialogue to perform between the musical performances. The only excuse for a talented and versatile guy like Darren Criss to agree to read and perform awful skits like that would be to pay off a large debt that he owed to a vicious loan shark.

The actual musical performances were quite good, including that of Darren Criss. If the creators of the show had only foregone the awful skits and substituted for them more photos and footage of Queen with a voice over full of interesting band history and facts it would have been SO much better.

Wow
rpc-9985716 January 2022
I created an account just to write a review on this "sing along". I spent 40 painful minutes viewing this. Minute by minute, and second by second, I sat here waiting for this to get better and sadly it fell flat. This is a disgrace to Freddie Mercury's life, music, and legacy. The only good parts were the parts where actual Queen recordings were played, so maybe 2-3 minutes out of 40. Everything that makes Queen's music so powerful was stripped from these artists' renditions. Everyone behind this project should never work in the music industry again, save for Adam Lamber and Fallout Boy.

Do Not Watch...See the Real Queen on YouTube instead
laraecherd25 November 2021
I couldn't even stomach it! I tried to watch because I love Queen, but this was horrible. I've heard bands perform cover songs and they do a great job making it their own, this was not the case. And of all days to watch, today is the anniversary of Freddie Mercury's death. He would have been appalled. This was an embarrassment for Queen. If you want a better concert, you can see Queen's Live Aid performance on YouTube.

Lame! Lame!
oscargcm7 September 2022
Lame AND disrespectfull event. Fake mustaches, Fake fans, Fake love to the original material. A bunch of wannabies Disney self called "stars". The worst 50 years celebration to one of the greatest bands ever.

Shame to Brian May AND Roger Taylor who allow this creep show happens.

One More Time, this people clearly proves doesn't understand a damn of what Queen legacy and story means.

Truly i see and hear more quality and effort in a lot of home made interpretations on YT. If you think this kind of stuff invites the new generations to appretiate legendary music such as Queen, think again, this is completely wrong AND the worst Is the hosts humor. Awfull, annoying, shameless vacuous and again, disrespectfully.

The perfect proof that money can't replace talent!

Wrong so so wrong.shame on disney for making this. Rather then make a tribute to Queen, they spat in their face. They should remove this from Disney plus immediately so no one else ever needs to see it.
