Good for one go-around, but not much after that.

What a weird beast this is.

First off, TRON: EVOLUTION is definitely worth it if you're itching to return to the Grid from TRON: LEGACY. They really did a good job depicting the black and neon world of that movie; the game's got high production values, it looks and sounds great, and going back there is really pretty fun. Plus, there's time spent in both the light tank and lightcycle. Can't beat that.

On the flipside, there's the single-player combat. It's kind of a funny experience playing this game, because it doesn't take long to figure out where you've seen this before: Assassin's Creed. You're running around the Grid, scurrying up (and across) walls, and doing all of this strange parkour stuff. It's not that that's strange, per se, just that it takes some effort. The camera's pretty awkward here, and it's very easy to miss the big jump and fall into the abyss. I derezzed a lot during these segments. A lot. Doesn't work so well as a platformer. I like the fighting (though it does get repetitive), just not so much Spider-Man.

It's not a bad game. Far from it. But it does get frustrating, at least for me. I had a lot of fun in the lightcycle, and there is the occasional thrill of pulling off a harried bit of free-running. I would be disappointed if I'd paid full-price for this; but as a discount title, it'e not bad. Although I don't see much in the way of replay value.

Only die hard fans will love this

Tron Evolution was given to me one day because I am the hugest Tron fan ever for some chores. It came with a novelty Tron light cycle figure. Tron Evolution disappointed me as much as Tron Legacy did. But I still had fun.

STORY

Set before stages of the Tron Legacy film you play as an anonymous program who must save the Grid from the infectious Braxis. You are aided by a fem fatal and Clu. The world is filled with sentient life forms known as "programs". There is a lot of Choclate rain going on so it's time to ease it.

GAMEPLAY

Tron Legacy is a beat em up platformer much like Prince of Persia. It has very diverse gameplay. It's as diverse as it's poorly paced. It's segmented.

First you go venture around. Then you get into a fight then you jump around. You then solve puzzles.

The combat is annoying and overly violent for something that is set in cyberspace but it's perfectly understandable and marketable.

What really slows the pace down is the puzzles. They can be tedious! I'm sorry but I'm wasting time.

You get to ride light cycles which is pure fun if not a bit sluggish.

Blast baddys with tanks in certain stages.

The level designs are good for what they are,

There is also a cool multiplayer mode where you can either

-fight in an arena with discs

-race light cycles

-get into panzer fights

It's fun, is it even online anymore? Who knows but Jeff Bridges is keeping the grid up maybe.

Reluctantly there is a version of Tron Evolution that allows motion controls which should go as good as I expect which is not very good but hey it exists to make you more immersed into Tron's universe anyway.

GRAPHICS

The graphics are amazing on their own right. But I don't like the bleack atmosphere of the new Tron game. I don't like the art style but it looks cool anyway. I don't even like the animation but the particle effects are cool.

On the plus side there are some nice faces based on the real characters.

There is even a stereoscopic glasses option for people who where stupid enough to get into the 3DTV fad of 2011. It's all the more gimmicks to have you immersed into the world like it's VR or something.

SOUND

It's Daft Punk and Dubstep. It's 2010's modern electronic trash as you would appropriate a modern video game if you would set into cyberspace. I don't really like it.

CONCLUSION

I'm a life long Tron fan so this game isn't entirely my taste but you will have fun with it anyway.
