Minka Kelly recalls the first time she met her dad — former Aerosmith guitarist Rick Dufay — and the cycles of addiction that ensnared her parents in a new excerpt from the audiobook of her memoir, Tell Me Everything, out today, May 2.
Kelly was three when she first met Dufay, who spent the early Eighties playing with Aerosmith, replacing Brad Whitford between 1981 and 1984. Father and daughter’s first meeting was orchestrated by Kelly’s mother, Maureen, who showed up at an Aerosmith concert in Los Angeles and spent the show pelting Dufay...

Minka Kelly says it was a long journey to repair her relationship with her father Rick Dufay.
The Aerosmith guitarist wasn’t around for most of her childhood as he was about to embark on a tour with the band and wasn’t ready to be a father at the time she revealed in her memoir Tell Me Everything.
“My mom was on her own for a very long time, so she was just surviving and doing her best and maybe not totally well-equipped to have and raise a child,” she told People. “But she did it anyway because she wanted me and she loved me to the best of her ability.”
While her mother Maureen did reunite with Dufay for a brief period, the relationship didn’t last long as she moved into an on-again off-again relationship with a man named David who would act as Kelly’s father figure at times.

Amazon finally launched its epic TV series take on “The Lord of the Rings” last week, but the debut of the highly anticipated show was somewhat clouded by a vocal minority of fans decrying the series’ diverse casting.
“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is set thousands of years before the events depicted in J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings,” telling a story set during what Tolkien called the Second Age – an era of prosperity and peace that is soon threatened by the re-emergence of an evil sorcerer named Sauron.
The TV series features all the various races found in Tolkien’s books and Peter Jackson’s film adaptations – humans, dwarves, elves, orcs and hobbit-like Harfoots – but there is a major difference between this series and how the world of Middle-earth has been depicted before. It’s racially diverse.

John Boyega joined the Star Wars franchise as ex-stormtrooper and Resistance fighter Finn in 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and reprised his role in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" in 2017, before returning for "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" in 2019. But now he's doubling down on his previous statement that he won't be back in the universe.
In 2020, he spoke out against how he had been treated while part of the franchise, and in an Aug. 24 interview with John Fugelsang on Sirius Xm's "Tell Me Everything," Boyega said he's still not planning on making any more Star Wars movies. "At this point, I'm cool off it," he said. "I'm good off it. I think Finn is at a good confirmation point where you can just enjoy him in other things, the games, the animation. But I feel like 'VII' to 'IX' was good for me."

John Boyega has praised Disney’s management of racist abuse directed at Moses Ingram, following his own experience during the Star Wars films.
After she was announced as part of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+, Ingram was subjected to cruel and racist messaging from fans who took issue with a Black actor taking one of the lead roles.
After Ingram shared the messages she’d been receiving, Disney and lead star Ewan McGregor both released public statements expressing solidarity with the actor and condemning the racist abuse.
Speaking recently on SiriusXM’s Tell Me Everything With John Fugelsang, Boyega said he felt fulfilled in seeing Ingram receive the help that he did not when he was experiencing abuse.
“Moses Ingram being protected makes me feel protected,” he explained.
“It makes me feel like, ‘Okay, cool. I am not the elephant in the room.’ Because when I started, it wasn...

John Boyega says that the internal studio response to the fan harassment of Obi-Wan Kenobi star Moses Ingram is a step forward from his time in the Star Wars franchise.
Boyega, who is currently doing press for his new film Breaking, spoke about Disney’s and Obi-Wan star Ewan McGregor’s open defense of the Black actress during his appearance on SiriusXM’s Tell Me Everything With John Fugelsang. In the interview, the actor says he’s not bitter about how the response to the racism he faced while staring in the sequel series was different from studios Disney and Lucasfilm.
“It doesn’t make me feel bitter at all. It makes me feel like sometimes you are that guy, and my dad taught me that. Sometimes you’re not the guy to get the blessing and sometimes you are Moses,” the actor explained.

John Boyega has expressed “frustration” with Disney’s kid-gloves handling of fan protests when he was cast as a “Black Stormtrooper” in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. But the British actor says he’s made peace with it after seeing how differently the company recently handled similar fan criticism of Moses Ingram in Obi-Wan Kenobi.
“That’s the peace that I felt,” he said on on SiriusXM’s Tell Me Everything With John Fugelsang. “Moses Ingram being protected makes me feel protected. Do you understand what I’m saying? It makes me feel like, ‘Okay, cool. I am not the elephant in the room.’ Because when I started, it wasn’t really a conversation you could bring up. You know how they went through it.
