Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming docuseries ‘Encounters’, which explores four true stories of alien encounters from around the world. The show is produced by Vice Studios, Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, and Boardwalk Pictures, and will debut on September 27.
The four-part series will investigate different types of unexplained phenomena, such as strange lights in the sky over Texas, submersible UFOs in a Welsh village, an alien encounter at a school in Zimbabwe, and a non-human intelligence at a nuclear plant in Japan. The series will feature interviews with eyewitnesses, scientists, and military personnel who will share their perspectives and insights on these mysterious events.

“Stranger Things” hype shows no signs of slowing a month after the ’80s nostalgia-fest first debuted on Netflix. The show’s synth-heavy soundtrack continues to be among its most popular elements, so news of its official release should come as pleasant (if unsurprising) news to many. Volume One is already available digitally and coming to the now-rarefied CD format on September 16; Volume Two is now streaming on Soundcloud and can be bought on CD as of September 23.

You don’t have to scour the internet all that hard to unearth a great fountain of alien abduction stories.
Unfortunately, in an age in which everyone has photoshop, the reliability of photographic evidence goes to zero and “I know what I saw” isn’t a scientifically valid stance. Many “encounters”, under closer inspection, turn out the be something else. That’s not to say the person telling the story is a liar, but all sorts of things, from drugs to psychological trauma, can cause people to have mind-minding experiences. Often, the most mundane solution is unfortunately the most likely.
However, in a universe the size of ours, it’s not beyond the realms of possibility, maybe they are travelling thousands of light years to stick probes in us after all.
If you do ever find yourself aboard a spaceship, however, try to nick something off a shelf as a souvenir.
