TBS announced today that it has ordered eight episodes of Glory Daze, an ’80s college comedy about a group of friends pledging a fraternity in Wisconsin. The dramedy, which is slated to premiere on the comedy cabler in late 2010, stars Saturday Night Live vet Tim Meadows and is from Walt Becker (Wild Hogs) and Michael LeSieur (You, Me and Dupree). It’s unclear whether the show will serve as a lead-in to Conan O’Brien’s late night show, which will debut in November.
TBS/TNT (which, like EW, are owned by Time Warner) will announce their 2010/11 slates next week in New York.

A pair of cable networks could finally upstage broadcast’s Big Four during TV’s traditional upfront week in New York during the week of May 17. Though TBS and TNT (which, like EW, are owned by Time Warner) began staging a programming presentation for advertisers in 2008, the cable nets have a lot more to crow about this year—starting with TBS’ new 11 p.m. talk show starring Conan O’Brien that will bow in November. Given the reach of TBS and TNT, upfront week shouldn’t be limited to just the broadcast nets, argues Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks.

TBS has tapped Breckin Meyer and Mark-Paul Gosselaar as the leads in its hourlong comedy pilot "Franklin & Bash," lifting the contingency off the project.
The cable network also has cast another hourlong pilot, "Glory Daze," with Tim Meadows and Kelly Blatz. They lead a largely young, ensemble cast that includes Julianna Guill, Callard Harris, Matt Bush, Hartley Sawyer and Drew Seeley.
"Bash," from Sony TV, writers Kevin Falls and Bill Chais and producer Jamie Tarses, revolves around Jared Franklin (Meyer) and Steven Bash (Gosselaar), two street lawyers and lifelong friends who, after taking down a white-shoe law firm in a high-profile case, are recruited by the firm's patriarch. Bash has an uncanny ability to connect with a jury and judge, and Franklin is bent on sticking it to the Man.
"Robot Chicken" regular Meyer is repped by Gersh and the Collective.
