Don't write these often but I had to after reading some of its reviews. This show is orginal, funny, and interesting. The episodes are only 20 minutes long too. They're not a lot of TV series that are a 10/10 and this is not one but they definitely deserve another season and their actors and actresses act their asses off so there's that

Wish it had lasted longer..

I remember being incredibly disappointed when I found out that this show was to be a "Summer Burn-Off" and that it wouldn't last more than thirteen episodes. The reason I was disappointed was because I really enjoyed watching this show. I felt like the humor was very similar to that of "Scrubs" and even "How I Met Your Mother" in that the writing was corny and oftentimes unrealistic, but the characters were solid and so were the actors who played them. I'm upset that I'll never know what the fates of the characters would have been, as it was cancelled after twelve episodes. I would definitely lobby for them to open production back up and for them to give it another try. Unfortunately that's not how the business works. Hope to see great things from all the actors involved in the future.

Allow yourself to just let go and have fun!

I'll be honest: I only bothered watching this show for two of its stars, Danneel Ackles and Zach Cregger, and I didn't really expect to enjoy it. The plot sounded unoriginal, and I have very little faith in movie and TV studios to actually bother making things good anymore. That said, I absolutely adore 'Friends with Benefits,' and I think anyone with a sense of humor and no ego will, too.

The show is solid. All its lead actors are adorable and funny, both slapstick and subdued in their humor, and play their roles with a simplicity and honesty that makes them hard to hate. Each episode features a standalone storyline interwoven with the established, budding, and evolving relationships amongst the group of friends, and everything about them is right.

The real reason people don't seem to like this show is, as far as I can tell, that people seem to have very high standards for what they consider comedy. Naturally, there are comedies that are brilliantly crafted instant classics, and 'FWB' isn't one of them. What it is, though, is playful escapism that will make you giggle, if not laugh hysterically, every episode. And, if you're lucky enough to watch it with a friend like I am, the source of endless new inside jokes.

Totes radicchio!

I just love this show!
superbadxqz16 September 2011
I'am from Europe and when this show hits the internet here it's Saturday, around 4AM. At that time I'am either buzzing from Friday night out, or I'am down because I spent entire evening at home. In any case I eagerly await to see new episodes after which I go to sleep with happy thoughts. When I review movies there is whole bunch of things I look at, but when I rate a comedy show there is only one valid criteria - does it make me laugh. And Friends with Benefits definitely put a smile on my face every single time. Comedy itself is a very subjective matter, so I do understand people who aren't so enthusiastic as I am, but still I feel that the reviews here are just too harsh. For the people who are reading these comments and are considering whether to start watching this show; just go ahead, if you do like it you just might get one extra thing to look forward every week. It's worth a shot. Cheers

painful

Made it 6:32 min in and that was even after giving a 2nd AND third chance. I was hoping in vain that maybe the horrendous acting and fake laughter would some how magically turn into something watchable... Yikes. They push they're jokes. Fake they're laughter. And seem to think acting consists of facial expressions and hand gestures. I've really enjoyed the new show 'Mindy' which I find absolutely hilarious and each actor seems to have amazing comedic timing. Its like they feed off each other and you can't tell they are 'reading they're lines'. I mean I would actually think it was mostly improvisation. This however is like you can see them reading the text in their heads. Awful acting, boring storyline.

Great new comedy!
staceyhicken24 September 2011
I love this show! It the more modern version of friends. Ben (Ryan Hansen) is by far the funniest character, with Sara (Danneel Ackles)a close second. The Ex's episode was brilliant (The Benefit of Avoiding the Mindbanger). I love all the characters and it seems to be getting funnier and funnier. I also love the honesty of all the characters. It's so refreshing to see a group of people just being who they want to be, no holds barred. It can be sweet, serious, cringe-worthy and hilarious! Keep the episodes coming. The UK will love this show! Note: All the episodes start with 'The benefit of'(knocked a point of for this, too much like friends, copycats ;) still works well though and deserves the 9 stars i have given it!)

this show was a big disappointment
bzsofi04729 July 2014
I started to watch this show mostly because of Danneel (Harris-)Ackles. I saw the trailer on youtube and I kinda liked it, I thought "why not? it seems fun"; so I started it.

The first episode wasn't that bad, however in my opinion it wasn't better than 6/10. The next three episodes were satisfactory, but the more episodes I watched the worse it became.

Around episode 4 or 5, the show wasn't funny anymore. It was idiotic, non- realistic (which is, as regards, not necessarily important 'cause it's a TV show), annoying with non-lovable characters and stupid decisions, not to mention the dialogs.

In summary, it wasn't worth my time. I didn't even watch it to the end.

Kind of Lame
rukmal19878 September 2011
Well I was expecting a funny show since it is said to be a comedy. but I should say I was totally disappointed. with all those great shows on air i don't think this a series that you should waste your time on. The acting is poor to start with. and the jokes are pretty lame too. It looks like the actors are putting more effort just to make an impression and land bigger roles. besides although it is named friends with benefits, there is only one couple that has sex together. I think the concept alone could have been taken more seriously. So in conclusion all I can say is that if you don't mind wasting your time on some lame jokes then this might interest you. besides i don't think this deserves a second season either.

friends with benefits (TV show)

Warning: Spoilers
just finished all 13 episodes and feel its so hilarious ~ personally, I think it is way better than the movie one~ their life is so easy going~ this is what I need in a real world~ few moments to get away from the stress reality ha~ I have to say~ it just makes my dream comes true ~ If I can be as rich as Aaron, as easy going as Ben or Fitz or have those fantastic friends~ that will be awesome, tho they cant really exist in this world I think...

however, the show is for sure a little bit similar to "how I met your mother" but~ the movie "friends with benefits" and "No Strings Attached" are even more alike...no mention these two films are not so funny... I like Riley so much, she is pretty tho I cant endure her sexual attitude as a girlfriend~

hope there will be more seasons~

Not Ready for Prime Time
rcowlingva9 September 2011
Just watched the NBC show "Friends With Benefits". It's a cross between the NBC show "Friends," the smell of ammonia, and strep throat. Pres. Obama's wish was fulfilled with this one - the show is, in fact, shovel ready. The show is not funny, poorly acted, predictable, and way too crude to be on at 8pm. I anxiously watch many new shows hoping for a treat like Arrested Development or Cheers. I am amazed that, even though ABC put the show on ice, that NBC tried to give the show a shot. Also amazed that the show has been on for almost a month and no one has heard of it. While it doesn't help, the best thing for the country is to add the cast and crew back to the unemployment roster.

Absolutely the Worst TV Show I've Ever Seen
Sturgeon5425 August 2011
I've waited several years to finally see the rock bottom of network television, and it is this show (I only needed to see about a half hour of it and I knew). Not only does this show (badly) copy the styles and story lines of about a hundred other shows going back 20+ years, in addition to the latest casual sex RomCom movie craze, but it is actually offensive.

First of all, it's supposed to be a comedy but has no laugh track (evidently even the studio audience found it dreadful). Second, it is about a bunch of attractive but idiotic twenty-somethings, each encompassing a different ethno-socio-gender stereotype. Third, it makes a mockery of my city, Chicago, by making the whole place look like a self-satisfied rich-kid paradise. Finally, and most importantly, the story lines are almost deliberately unfunny and mean-spirited: a white preppy tries to show pity on his slightly overweight (he says "ugly") co-worker by actually talking to her (gasp!), an uber-wealthy preppy gets mugged and de-clothed on the EL train, and a female doctor (who just happens to look like a Victoria's Secret model) lets men jump through her window at night to have sex with her (I'm not making this up) but complains she can't find a caring, loving relationship. Dying with laughter yet? It's worse than Neil LaBute-lite.

In a time when 20% of the country is out of work, most recent college grads can barely get a job (much less the fancy clothes and digs of this show), and people are actually starving, is it really the time to be putting onto rotation a mean-spirited show about selfish preppies like this, NBC?

not bad,,, not great
batudingin-17 August 2011
It does have a great leading lady, hot and chatty. And a fun leading man, The party down blonde, he seems to be enjoying every comedy moments. I do hope for better writing though. And less obtrusive sound and songs, and the sex noise too. Keep it down a notch, we all know it is fake. It is just not fun too see that women can do so easily faking it.

The chemistry is a bit weird. Most seems to have nothing in common with each other. Same thing I should say with my friends. And it is refreshing to see none was related and somewhat staying together. Post friends and How i met your mother this one was a breath of fresh air, somehow works in charm anyway. It is amazing to see the funny bits involving vegetables, that one makes me laugh hard.

It takes more than open bra moments to make a show sexy. The network shows should learn from fx and showtime, they can make things sexy without showing anything. I don't know if its enough for a lure to a wide audience but hey, it would help a lot anyway.

friends with benefits is a great show !
mendelman-jacobson8 August 2011
friends with benefits is a very interesting show starting with the characters each one is unique and likable which is different from most series which you don't always like all the characters . this show is really funny for the fact that its tv14 and has a lot of sex jokes unlike children shows which cant make most of the jokes this series can make . as we all know there's only two types of jokes 1)good jokes 2)clean jokes . hahahaha yes i know that its very interesting that all the good jokes are not clean . but i don't see this show having too much of a future but at the time that it is in fact airing it will definitely be a hell of a show !!!

Not very good
ctomvelu114 September 2011
Recently caught two episodes of this network show. The first was OK, the second dismal. Sort of a "Friends" crossed with a daytime soap opera. The only interesting aspect was some quick shots of couples having sex. And there wasn't nearly enough of those. Also, are we ever going to see two people naked and having sex? Someone always seems to be wearing some article of clothing. I suspect the audience for this would surge if the network had a little more gumption and pushed the nudity envelope. As it is, this show will be dead soon enough. It is poorly acted and not particularly well written, and the actors are generic at best, much like soap opera actors.
