Exclusive: NBC’s Found is adding Dionne Gipson (Dream Girls) to its Season 2 cast. She will recur as a character who is close to Gabi (Shanola Hampton).
The series, which hails from All American‘s Nkechi Okoro Carroll, follows public relations specialist Gabi Mosely and her crisis management team dedicated to finding missing persons, especially those often overlooked by the system. Gabi was once one of those forgotten ones, and is still hiding a chilling secret of her own – she has found her kidnapper, Sir, (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and uses his twisted expertise to help solve their cases. In any given year, more than 600,000 people are reported missing in the U.S. More than half that number are people of color that the country seems to forget about.
Kelli Williams, Brett Dalton, Gabrielle Walsh, Arlen Escarpeta and Karan Oberoi also star.

The hottest new show on TV will make you emotional. Sara Fletcher (known for her work with channels like The Fine Bros and Simple Pickup) and Brendan Bradley (who has appeared in web series like Squatters, Muzzled, and Frankenstein M.D.) play Ben and Delilah in Brooding, a web series that parodies the sentimental dramas of The CW.
Brooding's title refers to a fictional TV show on a fictional network called The Wc. A sequence at the beginning of each episode advertises "deep thoughts" and "dark places," but instead, viewers are treated to a hilarious, over-the-top melodrama featuring tense music, dim lighting, low-cut tops for Delilah and tight shirts for Ben. In the Brooding world, every conflict must be resolved in the most dramatic way imaginable. Everyday nuances, whether they take place in the bathroom or the kitchen, are cause for concerned faces and free-flowing tears. Here's one of the best installments,...

Let’s face it, University of Southern California (USC) film Cinematic Arts school kids have it pretty well. Just getting in to what is arguably the most competitive graduate film program is a badge of respect in an industry littered with standouts amongst its alumni. George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis, Ron Howard, not to mention The Lxd director Jon M. Chu. Now the famed feeder school for Hollywood the fast track is turning its students on to the digital side with a little help from Subway. It's a first for both school and brand here, the former looking to prepare its latest breed of filmmakers for actually making a career in the emergent medium of web originals and the latter looking to polish its ‘fresh’ image amongst the film crowd. (Something other brands like Stella Artois and Audi have done in spades.) A few months back, Subway approached USC, with some help from La-based Content & Co.

Parody, video games and the internet have always been a three’s company of buddiness. CollegeHumor’s Dorkly, YouTube 8-bit parodies, and of course Atom’s long-running and recently ended Zelda spoof, The Legend of Neil all feasted from the table of viewers nostalgic for the video games of their youth. Creator Matt Lewis still saw plenty of flesh on this comedy bone, crafting an elaborately detailed parody of over a dozen video game characters in what would become his first leap into web series with Video Game Reunion, set to bow March 8th on Atom and GameTrailers. The series opts for the lighter, familiar mockumentary riff on the idea of the real lives of game characters like Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser and Mega Man—not as dark as the neo-noir sendup of the Mario Bros. and the Koopa Kingdom in 2008’s There Will Be Brawl. The main conceit of...

A cocktail party so crazy you have to sign a waiver just to get in? I was intrigued. Intrigued enough to hop on the freeway a few miles up to a dark corner of North Hollywood to find the undisclosed home base of the web’s latest live-streaming reality show. Walking up to the three-story loft building it became clear this wasn’t going to be my run-of-the-mill Saturday night drinks at a friend’s place. Before entering the ControlTV loft, I’m hustled into a back room filled with producers and burly Pa types ushering me through a waiver and some ground rules. “Try to keep this PG-13,” said one of the younger producers on duty that night. “Just basically don’t drop the f-bomb too much.” She mentions the 30-second delay on the live stream they’ve set up just in case we get out of hand. And...

By now you should have at least two Memorial Day BBQs under your belts, and what better time to embrace your bratwurst coma for a low-maintenance look at the week ahead in web series. Tomorrow is officially the start of June and with it comes the premiere of Squatters, a new comedy on Dailymotion from creator Brendan Bradley. We had an early exclusive peek at Squatters, which hinted at its lineup of web series notables like The Guild’s Sandeep Parkih, Circle of Eight’s Austin Highsmith, and The Legend of Neil’s Tony Janning. Even NPR’s The Story took interest in the indie comedy. “After The Guild, I was suddenly an ‘Actor,’ and I realized that was a career I wanted to further explore,” said Parikh. “With Squatters, I get the opportunity to play a very different character than Zaboo, and who could turn down the chance to improvise,...
