Sex & Nudity

  • Ophelia climbs into a bathtub with Ben. Ben caresses her in the bathtub before the scene cuts to him carrying her to bed. In bed, thrusting can be seen.
  • There's an intense sex scene between Trevor Donovan and Sandra Echeverria. There's no nudity but Echeverria thrusts vigorously and moans loudly in this 15 second scene.
  • The film also contains 15 sex references.

Violence & Gore

  • In one of the most disturbing scenes a character opens a video which turns out to be an aftermath of an execution. We see beheaded heads on the floor and headless bodies. The scene is disturbing and realistic. Lots of gore.
  • Hammers and crowbars are used to break teeth and jaws, a cheese grater is dragged across people's skin, and a mechanical clamp severs a man's arm.
  • Throughout the film, scenes of violence are depicted.
  • There are two scenes where the depictions of violence are realistic and gory.
  • The first scene involves a man who had claimed to have betrayed his syndicate has his face bloodied, with pieces of skin and tissue peeling off from chunks of his face. One piece is seen to drop on the floor in front of him. This sequence ends with the man being torched alive.

Profanity

  • The film contains frequent strong coarse language, such as the expletives 'f**k' and 'motherf**ker are used 75 times

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • The story-line of the film develops as Ben and Chon are seen to grow weed in a place of their own with an entire organization that does the packing of the marijuana. The sale of the drug is established to be a lucrative business in the film. This is shown throughout the narrative of the film.
  • Explicit drug taking typically occurs through the snorting of white powdery substances.
  • Ophelia is seen to smoke weed and unknowingly consume spiked drinks.
  • There are no step-by-step instructions on the preparation and consumption of drugs but there are scenes where individuals are seen in a state of intoxication thereafter consumption.
  • The impact of the portrayal regarding side-effects (i.e. hallucinations) comes across stronger than the consumption of drugs itself.
  • Drug-taking sequences are depicted but instructive details of illegal drug use are not. This film does not promote or encourage drug and substance abuse in any fashion.
