Have I entered an alternate universe where Stefan is fun?...
Chalice_Of_Evil19 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Damon was kind of a jerk to Stefan (by encouraging him to drink human blood when Stefan was attempting to stay away from it), but then what else do we expect from Damon but jerkiness? Ian Somerhalder was making some weird mouth movements during this scene (especially when he said the word "indulged").

Hey, David Anders! Good to see Sark from Alias again (albeit with Anders' natural American accent, rather than the British accent he put on for Alias). I liked Jenna and her pretending to be happy to see Uncle John.

Shame that we missed Vicki's funeral, but oh well.

Good to see Elena and Alaric sharing some one on one time.

I enjoyed Jenna throwing stuff at John during dinner.

Poor Elena and Stefan. I knew their scene wasn't going to end well. Stefan was just doing *too* good a job of acting fine, then it all went to hell in a single moment (which reminded me of a similar - though somewhat different - scene in Twilight, between Bella and Edward).

Damon managed to get two amusing lines in a row when he turned up at Elena's place and said, "You ask, I come. I'm easy like that." and then when he said, "No, Elena, I will not...go to your...bedroom with you." (purposely, so Jeremy would overhear). His delivery of both lines was what made them so good. He continued to amuse in Elena's bedroom, playing around with her bear, her bra and her pictures.

That's it, Stefan, drink the grog to take your mind off the blood.

I'm glad Elena told Jeremy about her being adopted and he was cool with it. See, this is when I can stand him - when he's being an actually *likeable* brother to Elena. Their brief scene together, as they were out walking, was one of the very few times I didn't mind him.

Stefan and Damon showing up at the Founders' Day party together, bickering, and then Stefan walking off with yet another glass of alcohol were all good. Even better, though, was Drunk Stefan and his interaction with Elena, then him compelling the guy to play better music and dancing with Matt's mum. Shame that things had to turn uncomfortable for Elena when her "alcoholic vampire boyfriend" started using compulsion all willy-nilly (though, to be fair, that guy deserved to be compelled into apologising to Elena. He was being a jerk for no reason).

Nice use of Paramore.

Damon was amusing again with his dead-on impression of Jeremy (and his "I know! I know! Me!" answering to the question that had been asked by Jeremy in regards to who would do such a thing as bury Vicki out in the woods).

Loved Damon and John's exchange. Especially when Damon just sort of casually accepted that John was filled with Vervain (had he attempted to bite him) and the way he similarly threatened to rip out John's throat in such a casual manner. Was NOT expecting Damon to swiftly snap John's neck and toss him over the balcony (though, by now, NOTHING Damon does should surprise me). Poor David Anders. First Heroes, then 24, now TVD. He's just not having a fun time lately.

Finally, a good scene involving he-of-the-perpetually-bad-attitude aka Tyler (although Melinda Clarke was doing most of the heavy lifting. She was what made the scene so good). Then things actually got interesting when Elena and Matt caught Kelly and Tyler smooching and Matt punched Tyler (yay!).

I just KNEW the minute Matt wondered where his injured and bloodied mum was, she would be running afoul some vampire...I just wasn't expecting it to be Stefan. Paul Wesley was downright creepy-looking when he bent down in front of Kelly. He can really play the darker side of Stefan when the occasion calls for it. He also did good with the licking-blood-from-his-fingers bit.

Glad that David Anders isn't dead (again)! About time he stayed alive. And Damon's reaction was great (as was the expression on his face whilst taking in John's non-deadness as John made his speech). Then Damon and Alaric talking/discussing John's ring? Also neat.

Can't say I felt too sorry for the jerk getting his fist crushed by Stefan.

Melinda Clarke was excellent in the scene towards the end, where Matt kicked Kelly out of the house. Matt's pretty boring on his own or with Caroline, but his scenes with his mum make him more interesting.

I liked John's attitude towards both Damon and Alaric and his calling their "clever high-speed-snatch-ring-vamp-kill move" before they even tried it. Also good was his "Guilty!" (when he admitted to being the one who sent Isobel to Damon to become a vampire). Alaric was giving some nicely emotional facial expressions during the scene.

Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley were both excellent in their scene at the end there.

Bad Stefan! Bad, human blood-addicted Stefan! Nice cliffhanger-y ending and a really good episode overall. This show hardly ever stops being awesome.

The Hunger
claudio_carvalho3 August 2013
Stefan tries to control his hunger for human blood, but he is addicted again. Meanwhile, John Gilbert returns to Mystic Falls and visits his family. Stefan goes with Elena to the Founder's Day party and has a strange behavior. Damon has a conversation with John Gilbert and discovers a dark secret about Elena and Jeremy's uncle. The promiscuous Kelly provokes a friction between her son Matt and Tyler in the party. Jeremy snoops at Elena's room to seek the truth about what has happened to Vicky.

"Under Control" shows an intriguing new character, John Gilbert, and a weird Stefan, with a different behavior. The rest is teen soap-opera. My vote is seven.

Can't wait until next week!

Warning: Spoilers
*this review contains spoilers, please don't blame me if you spoil yourself. thanks.* I just watched this episode -like 2 minutes ago- and I was totally fascinated. The characters all go through some major trouble, emotionally, as in Jeremy and Matt, physically, as in Stefan, and get into some very serious and twisted problems, as in Elena, Damon and Alaric. Uncle John is a very creepy new character, he made me uncomfortable since he first appeared. When he is talking to Damon about all that he knows, I was seriously squeaking in frighten. Yes, I squeaked. Damon seems so terribly scared too, he is kind of chill about it, but you just can see it. Stefan, for the first time in the whole series, has something actually interesting going on. He was a nice character but he bored me at times, and watching this I was angry for him not being on screen the whole time. Elena and Jeremy's issues are getting out of hand, and I cannot wait to know what Jeremy is up to. Alaric, one of my favorite characters, seems so naive about everything, though he almost always has the answers, it is scary. You might think I am just scared about everything, but truth be told I grew EXTREMELY fond of every single character, and in this episode you don't have any good news. It is all bad news, for everyone, and you just cannot help but be afraid, for them.

Another thing I loved about this episode was the humor. Damon's lines, epic as always. It depicts Stefan as going through so much trouble, yet handling it in a harsh/funny kind of way. You know that feeling when you are smiling at what one is doing, but cringing at the same time? Creepy enough.

The only thing I did not like that much about this was the ending. It was a very much expected ending to the episode, though the rest could have not been foreseen even if I wanted to. One thing I love about this series is how every ending leaves you biting your lower lip, craving for more. In this you want more, yet you do not crave. At least you are not all impatient. I think that is partially a blessing, because if it had been a crave-worthy I would be ripping my hair off of impatience. Yes, I saw it 6 minutes ago. But what can I say? I'm a fan girl. 9 out of 10 stars.

Where is bonnie....

Warning: Spoilers
It's getting hard to enjoy these episodes, when I can't help but wonder where Bonnie is? We haven't seen or heard from her for like 4 episodes... and I miss her. It's like they used her to open the tomb and now she's just not needed..? But we still get scenes of Caroline and Matt.. I'd like to see Bonnie get to have fun rather than only come for magical purposes.

Stefan Uncontrolled

Warning: Spoilers
Elena calls Damon over to her home to talk about Stefan not being himself. Damon jumps into her bed and cuddles her teddy bear. He goes through her drawer and takes out a striped bra.

Elena tries to open up to Jeremy so there aren't too many secrets between them. She reveals she was adopted and they are not actually related.

The Founder's Party takes place and the Salvatore brothers go. Elena looks stunning in a black dress and heels that make her legs look long. Stefan has trouble controlling his hunger and drinks alcohol to ease it off. Vicki's partner makes out with her mom and this angers Matty. At home Matty starts packing his mom's bags and tells her to be gone from his life by morning.

Alaric and Damon has a new enemy in John Gilbert who knows far more than any of them.
