Hunters never go back to a town they worked a job in before, simply because they leave too much mess behind. But this time Sam has to go back, ignoring all the warning signs and Dean's concerns about him because he "Has a freaking soul now and it won't just let him walk away", He promised his brother and promised himself he would fix things but he has no idea how bad those things were.
The younger Winchester won't be given a break, He has to face the ruthless actions of his soulless self along with the awful cracks in the wall leaking memories of Hell. (I just wanted to scream to Supernatural writers, Please give the guy a break, why does he always have to suffer? But other wise it would be a very boring show)
Anyway, Jared Padalecki delivered yet another brilliant performance portraying the two sides of Sam Winchester. Through some great flashbacks, We saw the cold, ruthless, methodical and uncaring RoboSam versus the horrified sympathetic caring soft Sammy, who is doing everything in his power to redeem himself. But will Sam ever be granted forgiveness or like Roy told him "You killed one monster and you made so many more"? this is the story of his life. How will Dean deal with the cracks in his brother's wall? Will they ever fix him?
As for Samuel, I'm really trying so hard to like the guy, But I just can't. I understand he wants his daughter back, I can sympathize with that. But a couple of episodes ago we saw him selling out his grandsons and now through those flashbacks, We saw him standing down watching Sam doing horrific actions without even lifting a finger to stop him, What kind of hunter is that? How am I supposed to believe he helps people?
Finally, I'm still wondering who was the real monster of the weak here? Is it Roy the Arachne who wanted to avenge his gloomy fate? Or is it RoboSam with all his unredeemable actions?
