• Clark Kent : I can't believe they'd risked everything coming out to defend me.

  Martha Kent : Clark, if you don't let me do this, there will never be a day where you can come out of hiding. People need someone to believe in.

  Martha Kent : Your father and I made a pact many years ago. We knew protecting you would always be dangerous, but we vowed to do it, even if it cost us our lives. I'm willing to sacrifice the same thing your father did.

  Clark Kent : But I'm not gonna to let you go on a suicide mission for me. And the person who did this to you is still out there, and I'm gonna find them. I'm not ready to say goodbye to you, too.

  Clark Kent : You're not him.

  Tess Mercer : You keep blaming everybody, but look who has the gun in their hand. I know how you feel. After living in the darkness for so long, you feel like you can't step into the light, 'cause it makes you feel ashamed. But Clark was the one that changed everything for me. He can do the same thing for you.

  Alexander Luthor : W-Why would you want to help me? I'm your enemy. We've been locked in battle for years.

  Clark Kent : You're not locked into anything. You had something that Lex never had, and that's Tess. She loved you.

  Tess Mercer : I still love you. I do. And I know I'm not perfect. But I'll always be there for you.

  Clark Kent : Lionel?

  Tess Mercer : He followed you from his parallel world and he knows about Alexander.

  Oliver Queen : Uh, even worse, he's already found him. I just got back from father/son day at LuthorCorp. Alexander's all grown up. The family's back in business.

  Tess Mercer : You sent Slade there, didn't you?

  Clark Kent : The VRA forced my hand. And when the justice system here is fixed, I'll bring him back to stand trial.

  Tess Mercer : How could you be so good, Clark?

  Alexander Luthor : Because no one told him to hate. Like Lionel taught me.

  Chloe Sullivan : [appears on TV screen]  Hello, Lionel.

  Lionel Luthor : And who might you be?

  Chloe Sullivan : Oh. So you haven't quite figured out who everyone on this side of the mirror is, have you? Over here, I protect Clark. But I'm not the one stopping you today.

  Lionel Luthor : And that would be...?

  [Clark superspeeds into Lionel's office] 

  Clark Kent : Lionel.

  Lionel Luthor : You used to call me "sir" when you were my son.

  Clark Kent : That was another world that you chose to leave behind.

  Lionel Luthor : True. Here I have another son. My own flesh and blood. Where is he?

  Clark Kent : Why? So you can force him to fulfill a destiny that you control? I won't let that happen.

  Lionel Luthor : If you had the power to send me back, you would have done it already.

  Clark Kent : This world changed Lionel Luthor once and it will again. There's still hope for you. If you can let go of your hate, you may see your son again.

  Lionel Luthor : You think I'm going to corrupt Alexander. No. I'm not the one who taught him to hate you, Clark, you did that.

  Clark Kent : Sometimes all we need is someone to believe in us no matter what. And that kind of faith is a beacon. It gives us hope and it gives us a guidance, sometimes even the courage to change. I'll never stop trying to help Alexander. Never.

• Clark Kent : [after the VRA is repealed]  Thank you.

  Lois Lane : You should thank your mom and Perry. They were my inspiration.

• Oliver Queen : Clark, you all right?

  Clark Kent : It's kryptonite. The police didn't find any bullets because they're made out of meteor rock. They turned to dust on impact.

  Oliver Queen : The shooter knows your weakness.

  Clark Kent : They probably thought I'd try to stop it. This wasn't political. It was personal.

• Clark Kent : Why didn't you tell me you were in town? I could have protected you.

  Martha Kent : I had to protect you, Clark. The whole state is watching. It's not safe for you or your friends to get caught in the spotlight.

  Clark Kent : So you stepped into the spotlight, and look what happened. Somebody shot you.

  Martha Kent : They shot a senator, to frighten people from going to the polls. I-I have to get back out there and encourage people to stand up for what they believe in.

  Clark Kent : So more of them can get hurt?

• Lois Lane : Now, I still think newspaper is the number-one way to spread the word, but you can't beat door-to-door for the personal touch. I just single-handedly swayed 30 more votes in our favor.

  Clark Kent : I love your enthusiasm, but I don't have much time for politics.

  Lois Lane : Do you have time for your mom? Because a certain senator has been working overtime to overturn the VRA. Her cross-country campaigning has raised enough hero support to force a national vote.

  Clark Kent : And I appreciate everything that she's done. But, Lois, the vote's tomorrow.

  Lois Lane : Clark, you don't give up on the game when there are seconds left on the clock.

  Clark Kent : I'm still out there saving people, Lois, whether they want me around or not.

  Lois Lane : You need to see something.

• Lois Lane : Clark, you were so focused on flying under the radar that you lost sight of the skyline. A lot of people still believe in heroes. They just need something to give them the courage to come out and fight.
