However when a bell rings, tho local deputy regretfully knocks out the nosy reporter 'at the wrong time and place'. Lois has a car crash nearby and is nursed by an Amish family. - Clark has arranged for Lois and him to cover a cherry festival out of the city. This was done intentionally to keep her from getting near the planned anti-hero demonstration. He fears the crowd could turn on her given her public stance on support of superheroes. Suddenly, they hit something in the road that gives them a flat tire. As Clark finishes changing the tire, a young girl from a produce cart shows up to visit with them. Clark suggests that Lois stay with the girl while he hikes 2 miles into Meeker Springs to get the tire repaired. When he returns, she is gone. A sheriff asks if he can help. Clark, who cut his hand on the rim of the wheel, tells him that Lois is missing. The two go to look for her, following the cart tracks. The sheriff insists that there is nothing out here until a bell rings in the distance. Clark's interest in them earns him a club on the head. Lois had been taken by the girl to a commune. They cordially invite her to "break bread" with them. She tries to talk one of the residents into taking her to the train station so she can attend the demonstration that Clark wanted to avoid. They indicate that she can't leave. Their community sacrifices a woman each year at their Harvest Festival to commemorate a blue meteor fall that killed the leader's daughter but ended a series of crop failures. An annual sacrifice will keep their fields productive. Lois is dressed in commune clothes. She finds Clark just waking up from his conk on the head. They try to flee and are caught. One angry mob member swipes at Clark with a scythe and cuts his belly open. It's the blue meteor rock influence. Clark is buried with dirt containing blue meteor rock, which heals him. He dashes into the center of the ritual just as an inverted bell of fiery blue meteor rock is dumped on Lois. He deflects it with his back, that fairly quickly heals. With Lois in his arms, he uses his super speed to carry her away. Back in the barn Clark and Lois share an intimate moment. Meanwhile, Alexander is morphing into Lex, much to Tess's disgust.—Garon Smith
- Clark is concerned about Lois' safety so he diverts her away from covering the Vigilante Registrations Act by suggesting she cover another story.
