"The Spaghetti Catalyst" is both a funny and touching episode of "The Big Bang Theory"
tavm30 March 2011
In this last season episode of "The Big Bang Theory": Now that Leonard and Penny have broken up, Sheldon is tip-toeing around Penny at the mailboxes. Their awkward conversation leads her to invite him to dinner which Sheldon accepts. When he gets to his apartment though, the others asks him whether he's on Team Leonard or Penny implying he should be on the former but Sheldon goes back and forth covering various tracks along the way. Eventually, a truce is reached...This was one of the more poignantly touching eps of "TBBT" concerning the characterization of Sheldon Cooper and his divided loyalties to his roommate and the latter's former girlfriend while still compellingly exploring the funny of this most fascinating character. Quite a good dramady this episode was so on that note, "The Spaghetti Catalyst" is quite recommended.

The scene where Sheldon is avoiding telling the gang he is having dinner with Penny is really funny. Those little hot dogs come in handy. But the final scene is the best. Well acted. Penny and Leonard have separated, sort of, and that brings a whole new tension to the show.

Warning: Spoilers
Sheldon is forced to go behind Leonard's back to spend time with Penny following their breakup.

This is one of my favourite episodes from what has at times been a patchy 3rd series.

I love that Sheldon became the 'kid' of now seperated 'parents' Leonard and Penny, and there was some very sharp writing along the way to deliver this premise.

Wonderfully performed, with Jim Parsons on top form as Sheldon, this was a joy.

It was incredibly funny to watch Sheldon trying to hide from Leonard that he is friends with Penny. Him eating twice, and hiding the hot dogs bringing to her were great comedy. I do though find this joke about them being his divorced parents kind of annoying. Too many comedy shows have done it. Good that it was short and won't be ongoing.
