The Thespian Catalyst (#4.14)

Warning: Spoilers
The tweets about Sheldon's teaching were really funny. Penny teaching him acting was also a good idea and fun to watch. Raj's dreams about Bernadette were also pretty good. The Bollywood dancing scene him and Bernadette had was a real highlight.

Poor Ending ..

The is a good episode except for the worst ending in a BBT Ever .. Why kill the episode with such an awful musical number amazes Me And I Thought The Tor and Dr Jones song was annoying enough.

Sheldon calls on Penny to give him acting lessons when bad reviews come in about his lecture to doctoral students. Of course, he is totally uncooperative and pushy, ignoring everything she tells him. Meanwhile, we focus on Raj's fixation on Bernadette.

"The Thespian Catalyst" is another great ep of "The Big Bang Theory"
tavm10 October 2011
Warning: Spoilers
In this last season ep of "The Big Bang Theory": After being told what a boring lecture he did for college students, Sheldon asks Penny help for acting lessons. Penny reluctantly agrees for $40. Her methods don't work so they do a "Star Trek" one-act play which Sheldon had written at age 10. Penny is Spock while Sheldon does his mom. Meanwhile, after Howard says out loud that Raj needs a woman, Bernadette tells Raj he's a hottie. That sets Raj to dreaming about her...This was another hilarious ep of "The Big Bang Theory" especially whenever the obvious dreams of Raj comes up (you know it's so because he's sober and talking to women). And Melissa Rauch really does hold her own in these sequences as a funny and sexy presence. And dig Penny and Sheldon's scenes of role playing especially when Sheldon does both his mother and himself when underage. And, like Leonard, I do wonder why the Sci-Fi channel had to change to SyFy...

The Thespian Catalyst

Warning: Spoilers
The bit with Sheldon running in the desert as The Flash, the Bollywood number here - I've said before that it still seems even in the fourth series that 'The Big Bang Theory' doesn't seem to know.

This episode, the final scene aside, does do an awful lot right, and one of the things it is clear in its knowledge of is that pairing Sheldon and Penny together always works well.

Their scenes are excellent here, and work even better now that we have 'Young Sheldon' as we know more about Sheldon's relationship with his mother when he was a boy.

It's a good episode, but I do wish they'd settle for a tone moving forward.

Probably my least favourite
brainwerx-124 February 2023
Why? Many of the jokes in this episode are truly laboured. Especially when they are reading the tweets. Likewise throughout the episode. The idea for the episode was great. But, again the writing and the jokes just seemed forced. Like they had no idea what to say or do. As a result they put something together (masquerading it as a joke), and it just fell flat.

To be fair, a lot of the episodes had some jokes that were stretched, in some cases, pretty far. However, it seemed less forced. I don't know why, specifically, in the episode it just seemed really forced.

Now, I'm just writing something to get to the limit. Done!

Missed the Mark for Me

I really have loved watching this show. I don't ever binge and I have binged up to this point. This is truly a unique and hilarious show. However, this episode missed the mark for me. It was one of those episodes that shows do when they've run out of ideas. The plot was amazing, but the execution was clumsy and derivative. And the Bollywood dance was just awful. They could have done so much more with that.
