Penny's dad appears in "The Boyfriend Complexity" ep of "The Big Bang Theory"
tavm4 October 2011
In this ep of "The Big Bang Theory" from last season: Leonard goes to Penny's apartment and finds a middle-aged man there. Turns out he's her father (Keith Carradine) and he's just been told his daughter and Leonard are back together. So when Penny intros them, she also plants a big one on Leonard! When Sheldon hears of this, he concludes she's "coocoo for Coco Puffs". Meanwhile, Raj and Howard are spending 13 hours at Raj's lab for some telescope sighting. Besides Indian Monopoly, Battleship, and 7 hours worth of comic books, Howard also invited Bernadette along who brought some champaign to help Raj talk to her. Actually, she brought a second bottle which may have been one too many...This is another very funny ep of "The Big Bang Theory" especially when Raj and Bernadette start impersonating Howard's mother. And what about Wyatt's (Penny's dad) going on about Leonard's positive attributes compared to his daughter's previous boyfriends especially the one who tried to get beer pong in the Olympics. So on that note, "The Boyfriend Complexity" ep of "The Big Bang Theory" is highly recommended.

The Boyfriend Complexity (#4.9)

Warning: Spoilers
The story of Penny lying to her father about dating Leonard was really good. There were a lot of fun moments. It got especially funny when he begged Leonard to try to get back with Penny because he wants to have grandchildren who grow up in a house without wheels. It was also fun how Raj accidentally kissed Howard, that was a great moment.

Daddy's Little Girl
Hitchcoc9 October 2021
Penny's father, played by Keith Carradine, comes to visit. Penny has lied to him and said that she and Leonard were still an item. Leonard takes advantage of that in a rather inappropriate way. We do find out some of Penny's history, which is interesting.

Disrespect to animals very disturbing - great series otherwise
Shiryu0520 March 2020
From Bernadette's casual references to animal experimentation and Penny's redneck upbringing involving frequent aspects of animal abuse & cruelty via the rodeo and hunting; it is unsurprising that covid19 and other zoonotic diseases have sprung up like crazy within the past 2 decades. Time to go vegan and save ourselves from further disaster!

Leonard's disgusting attitude

Warning: Spoilers
I usually quite like Leonard's character. But in this episode, he disgusts me. For the context: Because Penny's father likes Leonard, Penny made him think that she was still going out with the latter to get her father of her back. So, Leonard starts taking adventage of the situation and kisses her all the time, on a disgusting manner, without her consent. We clearly can see that she is annoyed by the situation, Leonard surely knows that she doesn't like it, but doesn't care. He just continues to force her into kissing him. This clearly shows that, at least in this episode, he doesn't care about her feelings, as long as he gets his amount of saliva on her face. This gives me the cringes. I am extremely uncomfortable with this episode.

The Boyfriend Complexity

This is a fairly standard sitcom episode on both counts.

We've seen the predicament that Leonard and Penny get into here a hundred times before, but it does get a few bonus points from me for the glee in which it is presented by Galecki and Cucco. I do tire a bit of the latters seemingly endless Jennifer Aniston impression though.

The other plot isn't great, but at least does add some layers to the underdeveloped character of Raj.

On the whole, this is fine but not overly great from 'The Big Bang Theory', but it was nice to see an episode that wasn't all about Sheldon, or felt like it was all on Jim Parsons' head.
