- Open with bells atop the GE building chiming to indicate the merger has happened. As Jack and Liz watch, the "GE" is replaced by a "K" for Kabletown. Liz seems most concerned with replacing her atrocious ID badge photo.
Tracy has been nominated for an Academy Award and is starting to act like he's better than the show.
Kenneth tells Liz that the reality show Tracy's wife is on will be following Tracy around for a while. Jack approved cameras on the TGS floor and some of the employees are dressing differently in case they get on TV.
Jack reminds Liz that reality TV is what pays for shows like TGS. Jack has been researching the fact that disaster benefits are some of the highest rated shows on TV. To gain an edge over other networks his plan is to pre-tape a benefit with options for every possible disaster scenario.
Jack tells the writers to work on the benefit possibilities. This gets them talking about the fact they don't have a plan in place for an actual emergency.
Angie's cameras have arrived and Tracy is trying to act as boring as possible so as not to tarnish his new image. This gives Liz an idea.
The writers are now game-planning for how they will escape the disaster and are assigning people roles in the new civilization. They realize that Lutz is the only one with a car. He can only fit three people and will have to choose who goes with him. We now have a reality show-type situation where the other writers will have to compete for a seat in Lutz's car by proving how much they like him.
With the reality show cameras rolling, Liz takes advantage and asks Tracy to do a bunch of extra work to help the show. To maintain his professional image he has to say yes. The director asks them for some conflict but they don't oblige.
Jack has Robert De Niro appear on the benefit. He reads messages related to various disasters: "wildfires," "super-intelligent sharks," etc.
Tracy and Liz have discovered that anything they say to the tune of Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl" can't be used on Angie's show because of copyright costs. They begin to sing insults to each other.
Jenna films her hilariously vague song for the benefit. Liz tells Jack she needs 80 grand for the rights to "Uptown Girl." He thinks she'll never out-crazy Tracy.
Lutz is being pampered by the other writers. We cut to Lutz speaking into a mirror and admitting, "I don't really have a car."
Liz brings an auto-tuner to the set, threatening Tracy that if he sings she'll just take out the melody. Tracy responds by putting on a New York Rangers hockey mask, which has an official logo the reality show can't broadcast. Liz concedes she can't beat him and resorts to trying to making him feel guilty for how he's treated her after saving his career. He responds by arguing he saved Liz's show -- we see via hypothetical flash-forwards that they are both right. Each needs the other.
Jack tells Jonathan a natural disaster has occurred: A typhoon hit an island near Fiji with no fatalities: "It's perfect."
The reality show director wants to stage Tracy and Liz making up in the hallway but neither is up for it.
Decision time for Lutz has arrived. Frank offers him four tickets to a test screening of a new movie Lutz wants to see. The screening is in New Jersey and Lutz will be expected to drive.
Jack watches in horror as a news report states the island is actually owned by Mel Gibson and the only damage was to his mansion and cars. Jack frantically tries to cancel the special as we see on TV a clip of Gibson's cousin, Oskar Gibson, denying the Holocaust happened.
Jack is too late and sees that the NBC special has already begun. It is a tribute to the victims of the typhoon, Gibson and his house guest Jon Gosselin. With photos of Gibson and Gosselin behind her, Jenna asks for money to help Gibson "rebuild his sex Jacuzzi."
Lutz pulls up in a car, but the writers realize he literally just purchased it. They leave and the car is instantly stolen.
Liz watches in shock as Angie's show used special effects and other actors to make it look as if they made up. She and Tracy both become emotional and run to meet each other in the hallway for a real hug.
