With Irish TV finally airing Conan O’Brien’s bit part on a long-running soap that he taped when he was visiting the country for his Max travel series back in January, the reviews are coming in and so far they’re… lukewarm.
O’Brien worked with a linguistics coach to prepare for his part in Ros na Rún, as the characters on the show speak the Irish language (also known as Gaeilge).
In the scene, O’Brien plays a delivery man dropping off balloons at the bar of the show’s lead character, Tadhg. When Tadhg refuses to pay for the delivery, a heated exchange ensues before O’Brien storms out—but Ros na Rún makes sure to cap off the scene with one final shot at O’Brien.
“I don’t know which had more hot air,” Tadhg says. “The balloons or the ginger man.”

The Detective Conan movie franchise has achieved a monumental milestone, surpassing a total of 100 million viewers in Japan. This remarkable feat is attributed to the 27th film in the series, “Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram,” garnering over 6.44 million viewers and 9.2 billion yen in just 18 days.
In doing so, Detective Conan becomes the third franchise in Japan to achieve the feat of 100 million tickets sold after Doraemon and Godzilla.
Distributor Toho highlighted the significance of this milestone, emphasizing that reaching 100 million with the 27th film is the fastest record in history.
“The number of 100 million people is close to Japan’s population and is truly a remarkable achievement worthy of being called a national work. In addition, surpassing 100 million people is a record following the movies ‘Doraemon’ and ‘Godzilla’ series, but surpassing it with the 27th instalment is the fastest record in history!“

One Piece has been trending since the beginning of Monkey D. Luffy vs. Rob Lucci on the Egghead Island. Even though there are several anime that are pretty good and competing for first place, One Piece has made the first position its stronghold. Thousands of readers prefer One Piece over other manga, and Eiichiro Oda has worked hard to achieve that level of popularity.
But it was not always like this. Before the rivalry of the Big Three of anime, Eiichiro Oda was hell-bent on surpassing a certain manga on the Weekly Shounen Jump. It always used to come up on top, and at one point, Oda sensei became desperate. The manga that challenged One Piece was none other than Detective Conan, which is still going on.

Watch most comedians long enough and you’ll start to hear the same stories. But watch Stephen Colbert long enough and you’ll always find he has a new reason for audiences to fall in love with his wife, Evie.
On Sunday, April 21 at The Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California, “The Late Show” host and Ben Schwartz closed out PaleyFest LA 2024 with a wide-ranging and goofy Q&a that included Colbert retelling some of his career-best stories while gently negging his interviewer’s questioning style.
“I will tell you a question I have been asked before,” Colbert quipped, turning Schwartz’ first prompt back on the actor in a good nature. “It’s ‘What’s a question you haven’t been asked before?'”
“And Ok, we’re going to the next question, you guys!,” Schwartz said with a laugh.

Few documentaries have been as genuinely shocking as director Andrew Jarecki’s 2015 true crime documentary series “The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst.” Using existing media, reenactments and exclusive interview footage of Durst, who had agreed to be interviewed by Jarecki, the six-episode series investigated three unsolved murders in which Durst had been a suspect. It was a captivating spectacle that became a game-changing piece of art when, the day before the series finale aired on HBO, Durst was arrested for first-degree murder after being caught on a recording stating, “What the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course.”
Nearly a decade after winning the Emmy for Best Documentary or Nonfiction Series, Jarecki is back with “The Jinx — Part Two.” Premiering Sunday at 10/9c, the HBO series details the events of the next eight years, during which time Durst was tried and convicted of the murder...

The key to understanding Conan O’Brien’s comedy is knowing that it comes from a point of kindness. Yes, I know in this age of comics punching down, this kind of compliment may leave you with a neon “Must Avoid!” sign flashing in your bleary eyes — but stay with me.

Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram, the 27th feature film of the franchise, is setting new records at the Japanese box office. The franchise ritually releases one film yearly, and most have never disappointed fans.
This time, Conan and Heiji are on a case to capture Kid before he can steal a Japanese sword. Coincidentally, someone is found murdered by the same sword. The plot and animation attracted a wide range of movie-goers to the theaters.
This is probably why the film broke box office records in 2024 and is still going strong.

While many of us know how the story goes, here’s a quick recap for those who may have forgotten: After debuting on The Tonight Show in June 2009, Conan O’Brien was abruptly ousted from his dream job after being on air for a brief seven months. He was unceremoniously replaced by Jay Leno in January 2010 (which Rolling Stone likened at the time as the comedy-world equivalent of being jilted at the altar for a Jersey Shore cast member) and hasn’t set foot on the NBC franchise’s stage since.

Three years ago, when Conan O’Brien retired from late-night, it was a very different world. Max was known as HBO Max. TBS was still releasing original series. David Zaslav had just been announced as the CEO of what would become Warner Bros. Discovery. Change was in the air, and now many, many changes have happened.
But Conan remains a constant. Before “Conan” (the late-night series on TBS) welcomed its last guests, its host had already launched a wildly successful podcast, “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend.” He soon sold his booming digital media business to SiriusXM for $150 million, produced stand-up specials (“Chris Redd: Why Am I Like This?” and “Gary Gulman: Born on Third Base”) and podcast series (from Rob Lowe and Andy Richter), and acted in everything from “Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain” and “Murderville” to “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” and “Marcel the Shell With Shoes On.

It’s not just action stars going to unscrupulous lengths to achieve cinematic prowess in their movies, Action megastar Arnold Schwarzenegger also proved his commitment to his roles by doing what could be unthinkable for many. The actor has endured a lot for his character in his 1982 movie Conan the Barbarian.

“Salem’s Lot” Will Skip Theaters to Stream Exclusively
The long-in-development film adaptation of Stephen King’s “Salem’s Lot” is being made, after all, but will no longer premiere in theaters, opting for a Max-exclusive streaming premiere this year with an official date to be announced later.
Originally intended for a September 2022 theatrical release, New Line Cinema pushed the film to 2023 citing the Covid-19 pandemic shutdown for delays before removing it from its release calendar entirely. King’s 1975 novel was first adapted for the screen with CBS’s 1979 miniseries starring David Soul.
“Salem’s Lot” is written and directed by Gary Dauberman (“Annabelle”). The new version will see Ben Mears (Lewis Pullman) return to his childhood home of Jerusalem’s Lot looking to come up with an idea for a new novel but discovers his hometown’s residents are becoming vampires.

The ‘very male-gazed orientation’ of the 1980s version of Red Sonja will be a thing of the past in the remake, says Matilda Lutz.
Fantasy adventure Red Sonja emerged in 1985, three years after 1982’s Conan The Barbarian and around the time of the unexpectedly daft Conan The Destroyer. Red Sonja, directed by Destroyer’s Richard Fleischer, cashed in on that series’ popularity and also featured its star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, alongside 80s icon Brigitte Nielsen who starred as the titular female warrior.
There has been talk of a reboot of the movie for years, but it seems to be a project that has taken forever to bring to the screen – and we’re not just talking about the hold-ups caused by strikes and pandemics. For well over a decade, various attempts have been made to get the film up and running, with creative talent such as Robert Rodriguez, Rose McGowan, Simon West,...

Conan O’Brien’s new international travel series Conan O’Brien Must Go will premiere on Max on Thursday, April 18, the comedian, podcaster and longtime late-night host unveiled today at SXSW. All four episodes will be available to stream.

When I was a younger man, Conan O'Brien was the king of late night. I'm not talking in terms of ratings; I'm talking in terms of popularity among my peers. Jay Leno was boring and unfunny, Letterman was once great but had lost a step, and Conan was the absolute best. His style of humor, which leaned into the absurd, made his late-night talk show "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" worth staying up for.
While Conan flourished on his own talk show on NBC, in a timeslot that once belonged to Letterman before Letterman moved to CBS, there was one gig he coveted: hosting "The Tonight Show." Despite the presence of the hacky Jay Leno, "The Tonight Show" remained a storied institution; it was legendary, and Conan O'Brien very badly wanted to host it someday. And he did! You might have memory-holed this, or never learned it, but there was...

Satellite audio firm SiriusXM is trimming its global workforce by about 3% in an effort to become “more efficient, agile, and flexible,” CEO Jennifer Witz wrote in a memo to employees.
The company last year unveiled a significant revamp of its app and has made a series of talent deals in a push into podcasts.
“We made significant progress on the transformation of our business in 2023, but we have just begun to scratch the surface of what is possible here at SiriusXM,” Witz wrote in the memo. “To continue on our path to future subscriber growth and sustain our company’s success as the competitive landscape evolves, it’s imperative that we become even more efficient, agile, and flexible. Therefore, today we are making several organizational changes, including the difficult decision to eliminate certain roles, which will allow us to move faster and collaborate more effectively in support of our long-term objectives.

Those who don’t follow professional wrestling may not appreciate just how tough and grueling it is. It isn’t enough to be on the road 200+ days a year, getting dropped on your head or your back every night, dealing with injuries, losing your spot on the roster, and worse. If you’ve seen films like The Iron Claw, The Wrestler, or the old Beyond the Mat documentary, you know that professional wrestling is grind like no other.
But the other aspect that goes underappreciated is how much wrestling relies on acting. If you have any hope of making it big, it isn’t enough to be able to do a tope suicida or Texas Cloverleaf on the way to a 5-star mat classic. You have to be able to act your role, day in and day out. Often, you have to act live, in front of an audience of thousands,...
