Sex & Nudity

  • Very little. The Gears of War series is known for it's distinct lack of any of this, being solely an action title, although some characters elude to this sort of thing e.g. trading something for a girl.

Violence & Gore

  • This is a very gory game. Enemies fly apart in bloody bits, and large blood spatters are everywhere. Blood and gore can be turned off in the options, but this still doesn't change the fact that this's a very visceral, up-close-and-personal game, with many scenes of violence. There's strong bloody violnce throughout it's very bloody when you chainsaw people shoot people or blood on you it's very bloody when you shoot dead bodies.

Profanity

  • Many words such as "fuck," "shit," "damn," "crap," and "ass" are each said various times in gameplay and cutscenes. The game also includes strong language like "asshole," and "dammit" throughout and it's frequent.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The game is full to brimming with very intense gunfights, explosions, and set pieces. Some of the enemies may scare younger players, such as a giant wasp. The locust may scare some people.
  • This game is clearly not intended for younger players, or anyone who scares easily. The game was rated M for pervasive strong violence and language. However the game can be taken into a comedic tale due to the friendship between the heroes.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • In one of the missions, one of the main characters sacrifices themselves to save everyone. What makes the scene more sad is the character has been around ever since the first gears of war.
