This premiere episode starts positively as we hear Darren Roberts, the Atherton's trainer, explain how for the first winter in two years the family are actually all fit and healthy and ready to tackle the season ahead. We also learn of the family's specific goals for 2010, in particular Dan's goal of racing BMX this year, and aspiration to make the British BMX Olympic Team. With a slew of new kit and new bikes, we follow the siblings to the Maxxis Cup in Gouveia, Lisbon for the first race of the year. Will one of them get off to a flyer and get a podium finish? The Atherton Project sees Gee and Rachel let loose in Gauvia for the first round of The Maxxis Cup. It's the first race of the year, and it's Rachel's first race in a year - will nerves get the better of her? Gee's spent an intense winter training and honing his race speed, but making this pay off on the rain-soaked track is going to be another matter - Meanwhile Dan heads for Madrid and a brand new challenge in Round One of the UCI BMX Supercross. It's a tough and unforgiving new discipline - does Dan have what it takes to run with the BMX big boys?

The Atherton Project sees the whole crew gearing up for the first UK National of the year in Rheola, South Wales. It's Rachel's first proper race back on the bike, and having her competing again raises the spirits of the whole team, but will this positive energy result in podium places? Then it's on to Monterey, California for the Sea Otter Classic. It's the first chance this year to check out just how good the competition are looking after a hard winter's training. With Gee having picked up a minor injury, he'll be watching the downhill from the sidelines for the first time in 4 years, while Dan and Rach face a tough challenge in the punishing slalom event.

Episode 4 of The Atherton Project begins in Houffalize, Belgium for the first round of the 4X World Cup. Gee has to watch from the sidelines due to a shoulder injury, so Dan's left to fly the flag for the Athertons - can he get his season off to a flyer? Then it's on to Maribor, Slovenia for Round 1 of the Downhill World Cup. Disaster strikes for Rachel as she breaks her finger in training, but this seems to make her even more determined. As the rain slows the course right down, is she going to attempt the impossible and get herself on the podium?

Episode 5 of The Atherton Project kicks off in Vernon, New Jersey for the US Open. It's a constantly-changing, notoriously challenging track, and pushes the riders to their very limits. Off-track, Gee shares his slightly dubious American cable TV picks. Then it's on to Fort William in Scotland for Round 3 of the UCI World Cup. . The pressure mounts - it's a huge event for the Athertons on a physically demanding and tiring course, with masses of family and friends present. None of the Atherton's have ever won at Fort William, a goal every British rider fights for, but there's a first time for everything.

Episode 6 of The Atherton Project begins with the family fitting in some much-needed relaxation back home in Wales. For Gee, this involves sitting in a wheelbarrow and being towed around off-road at lightning speed by a quad bike. Of course. Then it's on to Leogang in Austria for Round Four of the World Cup, with the Athertons still on a high from Fort William. Some huge crashes from Rachel in qualifying cause her to wonder if she's pushing that bit too hard. Is it time for her to rethink her game plan? Episode 7 starts back at the Athertons' home in Wales. The family have their own trails behind the house which they train on whenever they're back home, and Dan and Gee hit the jumps. Testing out a new line, suddenly, Dan disappears behind a jump for a lot longer than seems normal, and Gee and Clay rush to investigate, to find Dan on the ground. It's a neck injury, and it doesn't look good. In fact, it turns out Dan's lucky to be alive. It's at least three months off the bike for Dan, which has him thinking about the bigger picture. This episode is dedicated to the fallen riders who may not have been so lucky.

Episode 8 kicks off with Gee heading for the British Champs up in Scotland without his injured siblings, Rach and Dan. Gee finds that he misses the inspiration and support of his brother and sister during competition but at the same time realizes that to stay at the top, sometimes, he'll have to manage on his own. Then it's on to WC Round 4 in Champery, Switzerland. With brother and sister still at home, Gee takes on the highly technical and challenging course alone. After some lightning-quick qualifiers on a dusty track, some serious rain sets in and turns it all to treacle. With Gee neck and neck with Greg Minnaar in the overall placings this season, anything less than a win is a disappointment. Can he beat the mud and bring the points home?

Episode 9 kicks off in Val Di Sole, Italy, for World Cup Round 5. It's a race Gee could do with winning if he's going to take the pressure off his title fight with Greg Minnaar. After some light-heated gym training with the team, it's on the course. Gee qualifies solidly, with a win the only thing on his mind. Can he prevent the 2010 season title from coming down to the last race and secure a win here?

Episode 10 begins with Gee reflecting on his season so far - with it all hanging on the last World Cup race he's really feeling the pressure to perform. Until then it's off to Crankworx in Whistler, a welcome break from the pressure and stress of the World Cup - still racing hard, but having a bit of fun with it. Rachel is back on the bike after an injury which has taken her out of contention for the World Cup. It's even more important she get back up to full speed ahead for the World Champs in a few weeks, which is always on her mind.

The season finale of The Atherton Project sees Gee, with his World Cup win under his belt, heading to Utah for the mother of all freeride events: Red Bull Rampage. On the road, Gee and the team stop off at a gun range to let off some steam, and a few AK-47 rounds... Then it's on to Red Bull Rampage. The week involves intense heat, unforgiving terrain, and a ton of digging to get the lines perfect. If only Dan were there, to lend his shovel skills. After a jaw-dropping week of insane free riding, The Atherton Project 2010 literally ends with a bang of epic proportions, and a little quiet reflection on the year that's been.
