Though the last film in the Open Season trilogy, another film called Open Season: Scared Silly (2015) with an entirely different voice cast was released on home media formats (like DVD, Blu-Ray, and Video on Demand) just like the other 2 sequels that came before it. Open Season: Scared Silly (2015) however was released 5 years later (6 years while the third was released in the US), and is set after the first Open Season movie, ignoring the events of the second and third movies in the franchise.
Sony Animation's first film after Columbia Pictures officially bought it.
The only Open Season film without any villains, though a reformed Fifi who no longer has a hatred towards wild animals and is working to control his anger does appear, with his fur having grown back unless Doug is counted as the main antagonist.
Like Open Season 2 (2008), Boog and Elliot once again have a voice actor change. This even goes for McSquizzy and Giselle, who are voiced by André Sogliuzzo and Melissa Sturm respectively instead of Billy Connolly and Jane Krakowski, coincidentally Sogliuzzo appeared in the first film where he was credited under additional voices.
Though this is Sony Animation's first Triquel, it is not official due to being straight to DVD, therefore making it Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (2018) released 8-7 years after this film.
